Not sure if JBN will read this, but I noticed there was a lot of people asking about TR and not sure about stuff like if it's based on ESO and such. I’m not a dev on TR, but I follow the Discord somewhat closely, and they generally try to stick to “TES at the time of Morrowind” often using something called “The Pocket Guide to the Empire” as a source. They don’t stick strictly to it if they feel like something if off or could be done better, but generally they don’t reference games made after Morrowind. There are a few exceptions like Ayleid ruins being basically the Oblivion design, though. Also there is a Skyrim and a Cyrodil expansion from TR’s sister project “Project Tamriel.” Many of the devs work on both projects and the goal is to eventually have the entire world seamlessly together. In fact, people often refer to both mods together as “PTR.” The Skyrim and Cyrodil regions aren’t based on the later games, by the way, and it’s likely the Anvil release for Cyrodil will release sometime this year. It’ll most likely be released before the next Morrowind release in TR at the very least.
Yup. From their FAQ section on their website: Q: Why the hate against Elder Scrolls Online? A: Opinions vary. For most new players, Tamriel Rebuilt is not considered to be lore friendly anymore, sometimes even aggressively hostile to new lore. Generally, we consider Tamriel Rebuilt's game world to be friendly to the lore of TES III, the First Pocket Guide to the Empire, Redguard and Battlespire first and foremost. Later changes and additions to the lore were made when Tamriel Rebuilt had already been in development for years, making it necessary to pick and choose which lore bits we include in our version of Tamriel even when the only new lore was contained in TES IV: Oblivion. With a consistent game world as one of our main goals, a lot of new lore simply doesn't fit.
Hah! So PTR people are more rigorous in they world building than Todd's bunch. From what I've seen the latter do not follow any worldbuilding "bible" not in TES and for sure not in Fallout 😢

3:19:54 The inner sea is brakish I assume, because the mouth of the Thirr river, a fresh water source, flows into the inner sea. But it is not as brakish, because the fort is located somewhat far away from the river mouth. You have to remember that originally, Vvardenfell was part of the mainland, until Vivec after fighting against invading forces, cracked up the land, creating the inner sea and making Vvardenfell an island.
1:54:15 This has almost nothing to do with your actual point/joke, but allow me to history geek for a moment. It's actually super common in history for rulers to name cities after themselves or after gods. An example of the former, Alexandria in Egypt (one off many) was named after Alexander the Great during his conquest of the Persian Empire; and Athens in Greece is named after the goddess Athena as an example of the later. It would make some amount of sense to have cities named after the tribunal, especially since they are extremely prideful and would take any chance to flout their power.
Your content is seriously really good. I have fully watched all of your videos on TH-cam. I was sad to have missed the live stream, would love to have been there for it. Thanks for all the work you do, and I can't wait to see more!

On Tamriel Rebuilt: It was technically being worked on as far back as.. Slightly before Morrowind's release - lots of planning and discussions were had, then I *think* around oblivion's time was maybe the first release? ESO was actually a bad time for the mod and caused a lot of heated arguments in the dev team, but afaik they stuck with their guns and stick to more accurate lore from around the time the game was made, and i think extra writings by the OG morrowind writers that didnt make it into the game but could be considered "canon"
the dwemer ruin you checked out was on the edge of a major city and the cities homeless camp out there so its already been mostly picked clean which is the logical reason why it had like nothing besides in the horrible lava room

I have to comment on the rat thing, if they had fluffy tails, they;d be in the position of racoons roughly. It's their chosen living conditions. Squirrels live in trees, rats in huddled away holes, one is commonly seen and has few negative connotations, and they eat nuts, while rats live in places normally filled with squalor, hidden from sight and eat everything in your pantry and leave dung in your floorboards.
All true. And rats send their babies out on reconnaissance. Plenty more where that came from. The other side of the coin, though, is intelligence. European folk culture paints rats as filthy; Asian, as crafty and cunning. Squirrels bury many nuts and lose almost all of them, only able to dig up a few by random chance. Rats never forget where they've been or what they've done.
It’s kinda weird seeing you so uncomfortable and nervous and self confident and kinda just seeing you at all I watch all your morrowind videos and just found out you do a Tamriel rebuilt playthrough. You’re killing it!

something funny and really "ludonarrative dissonance but the opposite" about playing as a pure Monk is that there really isn't much of a point to money, since you don't really spend money on weapons and armor or any sort of bling and aren't really looking forward to buying stuff, just improving yourself. found that pretty neat.
I also wish they designed different UIs for console vs PC on Oblivion, considering the console controls just straight up don't work on PC, like the controller support is half-assed and a bunch of things don't work the same, but it pretends it does I'd really prefer if Console controls just friggin worked though, but like, having to go get mods just to get a UI that actually works right is... unpleasant

anyone know if there's a specific reason for punching people into the ground and then beating them with a stick? does the staff do more health damage than the fists when they're on the ground?
you should try Space Marine 2 if you want to play a first person warhammer. It’s not fully RPG but there are trees and missions and drop-in multiplay that doesn’t suck
For a casual play through how do you keep up with the gold costs for traveling? Does mid game and on provide enough loot to sell or do you have to dip into a profession?
Stealing stuff is usually pretty good, especially if you know where to find all the expensive loot and rich merchants. I like to take the master alchemy set from the Caldera mages' guild and sell it to Nalcarya in Balmora since she has 3000 gold. And while I'm there, I steal a bunch of _her_ alchemy tools to sell to other alchemist.
speaking of a vegan run, I'm vegan and have done several playthroughs roleplaying as a vegan in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. I usually go with a Bosmer who thinks the Green Pact was a big misunderstanding and/or mistake. It's relatively easy in every game. Probably the most challenging aspect was trying to determine whether leather fittings on weapons or clothing is morally contentious and starting a brand new run, a lot of equipment will have those leather fittings, especially in Skyrim. In the context of the world of TES games, finding a discarded weapon and using it for self defense would likely be excusable, as it doesn't entail paying someone who is involved in turning animals into leather for profit. All that said, I wanna share the definition of veganism (a lot of people don't know it, they just operate on an understanding based on random things they've heard). From Donald Watson in 1944: "Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude-as far as is possible and practicable-all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose." Note the key words, "as far as is possible and practicable" - this means that a person, for example, whose medication is animal derived, is not expected to cease using that med (doesn't mean much for discussing a vegan TES run but I thought I'd elaborate on that for readers who are thinking about how it applies to their own life and choices).
On Twitch: You need to be a partner or run 3 minutes of ads PER HOUR to not have pre-rolls, but honestly pre-rolls are better to have than mid-rolls. Set twitch to do a 30 second ad break every hour then MANUALLY run a 3 minute ad break at the start of the stream and you get about 5 HOURS with no mid-rolls and an hour with no pre-rolls. Game their shitty system
I just realized that Morrowind's engine is superior to Skyrim's. Think about cities, how small they are, even if they have their own cells. Morrowind cities are out in open world, and more belivable in scale than Skyrim ones. I don't remember Oblivion much. Were they better or worse?
It's less a consequence of engine and more a consequence of NPC complexity and voice acting. Once every line being voice acted is in the picture, every single npc, even if they only say two or three things, becomes a much larger development investment. You can't make a city the size of Vivec in oblivion or skyrim because it would be way too expensive both in terms of time spent in development and in terms of scripting and in terms of money spent on the voice actors, etc. etc. etc. Morrowind favors worldspace complexity over individual npc complexity, and is unburdened by every line of dialogue needing to be read aloud by a voice actor.
Disappointed at your reaction to the Warhammer Custodian thing, I think its plenty understandable that people are upset that established lore has been changed for no good reason, if they wanted more female represantation maybe ADD something instead of retconning established stuff, put more emphasis on other female orders that already exist, etc.
It's only weird to me as it's been canon that only males can get space marined, so they just muddled their lore. It would've been cool to see a female space marine program start up in the faction or in the sisters part of it. Just a rushed decision to answer the new warhammer fans questions but it could've turned into really cool lore
Eh, don't put too much stock into my opinion on the matter. I barely know anything about warhammer. I just find it weird that people get so riled up over what aspects of fiction is "correct." What could be genuine discussions gets drowned out by people screeching over "woke" or whatever. Too much ragebaiting among gamers. It's exhausting. How Helldivers dealt with the whole PSN thing...if a fraction of gamer rage was used on stuff like that, lootboxes would be gone in a week. A man can dream.
@@actioncat5333 Indeed, there was so much cool opportunity to add really cool female representation and add meaningfully to the lore but instead they just went "it's like this now lol", which sucks
@@justbackgroundvods Alright, just felt slightly annoyed by your take on it, I'm the kind of person who gets annoyed and even stops engaging with a franchise if the Lore gets super messed up with retcons(like with one of my previously favorite games, WoW during Shadowlands where I completely dropped the game and continue to refuse to engage in any way with the game due to how much they messed up the lore and characters)
@@justbackgroundvods Got you ; I thought you would never take the bait lmao. Just kidding, you're draugrmaxxing which is understandable for a huge Morrowind player such as yourself. You're going to need some restore fatigue potions in real life if you keep playing too much. I know I do. Just killed a mudcrab the other day but my neighbor screamed something about "killing his dog". Some fetchers I tell you, you get the picture... Cheers Edit: Alopecia? Sounds like a common disease, try some cure disease potions or make a donation to the Temple if it's a corprus disease.

On Twitch: You need to be a partner or run 3 minutes of ads PER HOUR to not have pre-rolls,
but honestly pre-rolls are better to have than mid-rolls. Set twitch to do a 30 second ad break every hour then MANUALLY run a 3 minute ad break at the start of the stream and you get about 5 HOURS with no mid-rolls and an hour with no pre-rolls. Game their shitty system
oh hell yeah
Not gonna lie boots of blinding speed were a bad choice for first time mainland exploration. For me as a viewer that is
🐿️🐿️🐿️
A lot of people really dislike ESO, I love it though.
Every single video
hell yeaaaaaaaa
👏👏👏
I prefer combat in new vegas highly over fallout 4
I just find it weird that people get so riled up over what aspects of fiction is "correct."
What could be genuine discussions gets drowned out by people screeching over "woke" or whatever. Too much ragebaiting among gamers. It's exhausting.
How Helldivers dealt with the whole PSN thing...if a fraction of gamer rage was used on stuff like that, lootboxes would be gone in a week.
A man can dream.
@@justbackgroundvods best thoughts on it ^^^
@@actioncat5333 Indeed, there was so much cool opportunity to add really cool female representation and add meaningfully to the lore but instead they just went "it's like this now lol", which sucks
@@justbackgroundvods Alright, just felt slightly annoyed by your take on it, I'm the kind of person who gets annoyed and even stops engaging with a franchise if the Lore gets super messed up with retcons(like with one of my previously favorite games, WoW during Shadowlands where I completely dropped the game and continue to refuse to engage in any way with the game due to how much they messed up the lore and characters)
stop being bald lmao
Sorry. I'll let me alopecia know it bothers you.
Cheers
Edit: Alopecia? Sounds like a common disease, try some cure disease potions or make a donation to the Temple if it's a corprus disease.
