    2:37 look at the rear tyre. Bike can lean.
    Good review. Everything covered without waffling, no repetition.

    I have an XR fantastic bike, slightly modified, tail tidy upswept Mivv exhaust, tinted screen and the best mod was Evotech bar end weights to counter act the vibration, and after its second service I told my BMW dealer about the vibration an
    D he gave me a free bar riser upgrade same as the 2017 model... result is perfection.
    Coming from a strong sport bike background the XR has completely won me over!

    Your excellent use of the English language with adjectives such as:
    frenetic, infectious, frighteningly fast and brutal... are all words that should only be used to describe motorbikes. Loved this review 2nd your intelligent enthusiasm. ✌️

    you are correct about the low gearing, they should have put a 42 tooth rear sprocket on it instead of the 45 tooth, it revs over 6k at 80 mph, and that's why you get the vibration BMW. The newer models have modified handlebars but they should've just changed the gearing. I prefer for the rev's to drop some on the highway but it feels like you still need to shift up. I've ridden one for a few months and I don't like how it "rev's" on the highway. You can't order a Rekluse clutch yet either. If you don't mind feeling like you're stuck in 4th gear all day then maybe this is the bike for you. Very elegant bike though.

    That's what I wanted - a review with an opinion from someone with experience.

    Hi, and how good is it as everyday city bike? How it works at low rpm-s, from 3 to 6 or 7 hundred? Is lack of power at that range or not? And how good is it at low speed, for example if you are in traffic jam and are moving couple miles with a very slow speed?

      Rides fine from pretty much standstill. Only issue I find for town riding is the heaviness of the clutch and the fact is cant be adjusted for reach....but you get used to it over time.

    test rode it today before was going to put my deposit for it. like BMW but I won't be :( this thing vibrates like a jack hammer and I wouldn't live with that. engine, chasis, brakes excell really it's impressive piece of kit but at that price tag I cannot accept buzzing like hell and clutch lever so hard to operate (nightmare in town). to all the lads out there... test ride it before you buy one! cheers

    Then what is a good similar bike for the roadway that does not have secondary vibration in the handle bars and foot pegs as I ride mostly on the motorway?

      I have a new XR and took my wife on a highlands tours in June 16. The vibration is being exaggerated and although you notice a slight vibration around 70 it is neither strong nor a problem. Unless you are especially 'sensitive' it should not be an issue - and if you are then buy a car as rain also makes your wet!

      I've just bought an XR and I love it....the vibration is an issue for me though....I"ve sought remedies for it ...hopefully they'll be sorted...my pinky goes numb , that's problematic !!

    Question, why wouldn't you just get the very similar and much less fugly K1200RS?

    • @MaxAndHisBike
      @MaxAndHisBike 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carmelo Santini I haven't gotten either of these bikes but the reason why I'd get the XR over the RS is because of the engine. A boxer is cool, but it makes the bike so wide and doesn't rev up that high which is part of the fun I think. The XR is like a sportier version of the RS. I won't get an RR because I like touring, I won't get the R because it is a naked bike and I won't get the RS because I also enjoy riding sports bikes, so the XR is a good mix of the RR and the RS I think.

      Max , the K1200RS doesn't have a boxer engine.
