    I had a test ride on GT am 5.8” short leg . So to tall for me even on lowest seat height . Lot of wind noise at high speed screen need a clip on at the end to flick the dirty air over helmet. Indicators switch not easy to use with thick gloves on .
    Good point everything else is spot on . If I had longer legs it be my next bike . As am looking for a mile muncher next .

    I own the GT model. I’m 5. 10 and it fits me perfect. Handling and power delivery is Incredible. Especially compared to the Fj 09 I owned before it. The small changes Yamaha did to it made it perfect. It doesn’t hit as hard down low as the Fj 09but it has a faster top speed and corners better. The seat is Much more comfortable that the FJ. I don’t care for tall windshields so I put on a aftermarket shorty. Buy this bike Love this bike. This one will sit in my garage forever.

      Agree with most of this, but why leave it in the garage?

    The music at the end was composed and played by ewoks. Thanks Phil

    How is this bike for 2up touring ? How well does the suspension handle a passenger?

      @@TomasV28 It was a bit too small for me.And me and my wife plus two side bags...no, it was too much for the suspension. I sold it. Now I have a FJR 1300 from 2019 and did 14.000 km with it. We just did a round trip Kristianstad - Berlin ...perfect!

      @Csab mine is the 2017 version. Its a very nice ride. The only problem is the heavy low speed steering.

    I’ve got a 2020 GT, the seat is the most uncomfortable on any bike I’ve ever owned, after 45 minutes my arse is screaming for a break.
    I get nasty vibrations through the right handlebar, a dangerously numb hand after an hour, there is also a nasty forward slope on the saddle, pushing your testes into the tank every time you brake………….once you sort these problems out it’s then a very capable machine

    • @sexycowman
      @sexycowman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would you recommend anything else, if you went for a different option? Same performance and price range of course.

    • @BazzerObama
      @BazzerObama 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sexycowman I think for the most part it’s an excellent bike, it just needs some tweaking. It’s a bit like a suit that you buy off the peg it will never fit like a bespoke one, you just have to make some adjustments to get it right. You might consider the Triumph or BMW offerings, but you could encounter similar issues and they are a lot more money. Take a few out for a test ride and have a checklist of what you like/don’t like and then decide how easy that niggle is to fix would be my two cents worth.

    I love this bike but the seat height is very high for a sport touring bike : 850mm & 865mm; even 850mm is kind of to much high; Yamaha should do a lower version with a 820mm seat height.

    Great bike apart from position of rear foot pegs rider keeps catching back of boots on them unless you keep your feet further forward, not comfortable for me, deal breaker

    Not sure how this wins Sports Tourer of the year over a Z1000SX 140bhp bike with IMU etc.

    Shame he never mentioned the foot peg vibrations, they are pretty bad and will put a lot of people off. The tracer 700 is a better bike if you don’t want cruise control or carry a pillion. The screen is useless and noisy. Apart from that it’s great 👍

    • @nigelgreen7657
      @nigelgreen7657 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It must be pot luck with vibrations because I don't get any on mine.

    • @timdubber8577
      @timdubber8577 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The 700 is a great bike, but no quickshifter, less power, poor suspension, worse-looking, physically smaller and a parallel twin instead of a three? Tracer 900 every time for me.

    • @duncanblanchard334
      @duncanblanchard334 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Dubber , I traded up from the 700 only for the cruise control, but with hindsight I wish I kept the 700. It’s lighter, better on fuel, cheap to insure, goes just as fast in real world. I put a Wilber shock on the back and it transforms the bike handling, and the 700 cost 4K less. Will sell the GT come spring I think.

      I've got the 900GT 2018 and I can't relate to the vibrating foot-pegs. Must be random or opinion based. No idea.
