I am a post menopausal for a year 56 yrs. and my husband just left me. I was doing great loosing 50 pounds weight but now I am stuck, unmotivated, and hungry all the time.
Ty for this video Dr Mindy! 2 questions : 1) when you end fast at 1 or 2:00, how do you get your body weight in protein before you go to bed? Do you eat a lot of protein in 2 meals? Or do you eat every 2 hours? 2) Would you mind sharing your thoughts on cyclic BHRT, where doses are high for mind/heart/bone protection but it often brings back a cycle. Is this natural ? Would love your thoughts as I highly value your opinion. Thank you💖
During my transition, I didn't experience hot flashes but cold flashes. I had to order an inflatable jacuzzi to be able to get to deal with them ... as in mid summer I would suddenly feel frozen to my bones... I never hear anyone talking about women having "cold flashes" during menopause transition, you also don't mention it in your video... but still thought you might have some insight to why and its meaning. Thanks for sharing your journey and making it a point of showing its an individual journey, we are all different and need to find our best fit... but can help each other, by supporting and wisdom sharing ❤ ❤❤
I was taught that the body's THERMOMETER is affected in menopause, ergo hot flashes--so it makes total sense you would get cold flashes. A lot of these things aren't opposites/separate issues, but one thing on a continuum. Cheers! 😊
The hypothalamus malfunctions during menopause - it thinks you're too hot so it makes you feel cold and vice versa - I used to swing between the 2 states in a matter of minutes. It was horrible.
@Mindy Hi Mindy, thank you so much for helping so many women taking control of their lives. May I please request you to do 3 videos on: 1) how should a women in her 50s who also got early menopause, have high DM (type 2), high HTN, w/ hysterectomies done b/c of cancer and with excessive high inflamation and on and off anemia and arthritis do fasting especially when it's very hard for her to loose weight? 2) Women in their 30s who are breastfeeding, how can they loose weight even if they can't fast 3) Women in their late 20s who have PCOS, fatty liver, kidney stone and a lot of migraine issues. Would really appreciate your take on these! Thank you.
I went through menopause at 35, my doctor told me I was too young to go on HRT because of the risk of breast cancer. So I was on my own. To be truthful I sailed through it.
Thank you so much, first I feel validated I’m not doing too bad and I’m doing all the right things and second I feel you metaphorically came along and held my hand and said “off you go” 🙏🏼
I’m 43, And thought I have been going crazy lately. Like I no longer know my body. My memory, easily irritated, additional hair on my face, weight gain, extremely tired.
My last period was 7yrs ago. I’ve been doing IF 16:8 and keto during my eating window. I lose maybe 1 or 2 kg then they keep coming back on without me changing anything. I have no idea why I'm not losing! IF isnt working! I started HRT a month ago, i sleep better and have no adverse reactions. Im desperate cause the weight isnt budging. Did a 36hrs fast and the weight came back on too. Im not sure i have it in me to do a 3 day water fast
I want to thank you, Dr. Mindy! I discovered whole new world for myself. I was not fat, but started to gain weight around belly after 40, exercises and some random diets or calories counts didn’t help. I started IF 16x8 and lowered carbs, and i am losing weight every single day. I feel great, more energized, active. I love all science behind your messages, i like to understand why i need to do smth. Big thank you for what you are doing. I’ve just got ‘Fast like a Girl’, looking forward to read it!
I'm post menopausal and enjoy the 5-1-1 weekly routine for the most part. My only problems with it are, the long fast always sends me into a hormonal spiral downward. The feast day fixes that. But, then the first two days of getting back into ketosis is miserable. So, at least three days a week I feel like garbage. Should it be this difficult getting reestablished to keto?
Does it matter if you were put into menopause by chemotherapy? I’m 57. Cancer is resolved. No tumor or circulating tumor cells. I was having regular periods up until the first day of chemo. Now, no more chemo or period. It’s been almost a year. I don’t know where menopause symptoms began and chemo symptoms end. I can do 24 hour fast pretty easily. Oncologist will not speak to me about diet. They just say eat healthy and balanced.
Hello Dr. Mindy Pelz. I thank you so much for your great knowledge of fasting, hormones and much more. I used to Google about menopause and heart disease and it scared me. My gynecologist said a few years ago that I might get cancer and or I might need to have surgery because I was still having my period at nearly 61. never got cancer nor never had surgery. I've been told lots of untruths throughout the years (too long to say here). I guess due to quakery. I've always been a "late bloomer".Looking at your videos ease my mind about this. But I have emotional eating and gained a lot to 175. My goal weight is 137 or less. What can I do? my doctor says I'm pre-diabetic. I'm 63 now and depressed, etc.

Dr Mindy I just had to break a 72 hr water fast at 31 hrs. I woke up in the night feeling very hungry & weak. I was fasting to repair a leaky gut, digestive issues & to restart immune system. Obviously my body isn't ready for a 72hr water fast. I may be malnourished which is why I couldn't make the 72 hrs. It feels a bit like catch 22 What do you recommend? Thank you 🙏

@@DrMindyPelz Thank you for your reply. I am WFPB, and I was using fats in my salad dressings (tahini, peanut butter), avocados, nuts etc for a few days before my fast. But maybe it just wasn't enough. I think also I have leaky gut, so it doesn't matter how well I eat, I don't think I'm absorbing the nutrients. I think I'll have to research how to heal my gut & digestive issues while doing shorter fasts initially.

Regarding following the Lunar cycle for fasting... You mention Day 1 is New Moon .. what if all your life you had your period aro7nd the FullMoon (not New Moon).. should you go and start then fasting cycle then at FullMoon? OR does it not matter, as long as you create a "new" cycle and stick to it?
This is very disappointing. I was hoping the fasting and the nutrition would fix the hormones without hrt. If you have to have hrt, then what hope do we have that we can avoid hrt. Does the fasting and nutrition even work or is it just the hrt??
I'm 61. I have never had a menopausal symptom. My last period was about 6 years ago and lasted for approximately a month. After that, life continued as normal. No hot flashes, irritation, discomfort of any kind. My theory is that it is because I am allergic to soy, so I have to be very careful about what I eat to avoid it. It is in EVERYTHING. And now a lot of bread makers are using soy flour. If you are not reading labels, you are eating LOTS of soy -- soy protein isolate, soy flour, soy lecithin, etc. A friend of mine who WAS going through some menopausal symptoms cut out all soy from her diet and her symptoms ended. Maybe menopausal "symptoms" aren't normal, we just think they are. Our diets are hugely corrupted and maybe that's why fasting solves so many problems that we are not aware are coming from the foods we eat.
I have read the john gray books and admittedly I was a wife and mother for 17 years, I had four children from 31 to 37 and did NOT stop breastfeeding so today I am 60 my periods left about 3 years ago and no hot flashes, my husband left me on a drug binge 12 years ago, I continued to keep my hormones balanced due to no junk food, being a loving mother. when i dated two years ago my period came back ha ha too funny, but broke up with him and the period left again. I understand you we and me time. I will NOT take any hormone replacement. my body heals itself naturally. maybe I’m a freak but have always eaten clean, never drank soft drinks just hate them really. Aloe is also good for your private parts. sorry Mindy lost me.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us! 🙌 We appreciate it and will certainly consider it in the future.

Chills are a migraine aurora for me.
May I please request you to do 3 videos on:
1) how should a women in her 50s who also got early menopause, have high DM (type 2), high HTN, w/ hysterectomies done b/c of cancer and with excessive high inflamation and on and off anemia and arthritis do fasting especially when it's very hard for her to loose weight?
2) Women in their 30s who are breastfeeding, how can they loose weight even if they can't fast
3) Women in their late 20s who have PCOS, fatty liver, kidney stone and a lot of migraine issues.
Would really appreciate your take on these! Thank you.
Thank you for your suggestions. 🙌

I went through menopause at 35, my doctor told me I was too young to go on HRT because of the risk of breast cancer. So I was on my own. To be truthful I sailed through it.
💙
Thank you so much, first I feel validated I’m not doing too bad and I’m doing all the right things and second I feel you metaphorically came along and held my hand and said “off you go” 🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing, I'm glad you were encouraged! We are cheering you on! 🎉

I would check my iron level (including D3 and B12)
I want to thank you, Dr. Mindy! I discovered whole new world for myself. I was not fat, but started to gain weight around belly after 40, exercises and some random diets or calories counts didn’t help. I started IF 16x8 and lowered carbs, and i am losing weight every single day. I feel great, more energized, active. I love all science behind your messages, i like to understand why i need to do smth. Big thank you for what you are doing. I’ve just got ‘Fast like a Girl’, looking forward to read it!
Love this video!!!!❤
@drmindy Dr Stacy Sims says fasting for the "regular" woman is not good. She says the science is behind it. Am I misunderstanding what she is saying??
Hello Dr.
Dr Mindy, do hormonal changes affect blood pressure?

Dr Mindy I just had to break a 72 hr water fast at 31 hrs. I woke up in the night feeling very hungry & weak. I was fasting to repair a leaky gut, digestive issues & to restart immune system. Obviously my body isn't ready for a 72hr water fast. I may be malnourished which is why I couldn't make the 72 hrs. It feels a bit like catch 22 What do you recommend? Thank you 🙏
Hi there, We're glad that you listen to your body by breaking it right away when you're feeling uncomfortable. 🙂

Do more 24 hours of fasting the Gut Reset, and add a probiotic, prebiotic, and polyphenol food to your diet. 🙂

Would you just get a hormones test first before taking, applying these things. Would that be a dutch test?

I have not long had a full hysterectomy at 53, so no ovaries. Due to bleeding constantly for years & becoming anemic. I'm on hrt now, so am i correct in saying, if you do keto/IF you dont need the hrt patches now. I have felt like im losing my mind & weight gain. Every part of me hurts. You can do the 30 Day Reset as outlined in Dr Mindy's book, Fast like a Girl, using the 'New Moon' as your Day 1 (use search engine to find the day of new moon) or you can do a weekly variation like the 5-1-1 or the 4-2-1 Protocol.
The 5-1-1 is 5 Days of various fasting lengths, 1 Day of 24 hours fasting and 1 Day of NO fasting. In the 4-2-1 it is 4 Days of various fasting lengths, 2 Days of long fasts and 1 Day of 24 hour fasting.

It's your choice entirely, we recommend doing it as suggested. 👍

My biggest issue is BRAIN FOG AND SLEEP,. Do you have science to back up HRT/BHRT can still help women who have been in Menopause for several years? I also have been dx with ADD. How would one do longer fasting periods if blood pressure meds have to be taken? I am new here.
Always take your medications as prescribed, and check with your pharmacist. Some people can take their Rx medications with a bit of fat, or some wilted greens and fat. You will still get great fasting benefits! Please be aware that you may be more sensitive to some medications in a fasting window. 🙂

This is very disappointing. I was hoping the fasting and the nutrition would fix the hormones without hrt. If you have to have hrt, then what hope do we have that we can avoid hrt. Does the fasting and nutrition even work or is it just the hrt??
I just hate the fact that when i fast i lose fat in my face and look older
I've never had any symptoms. probably because I've been vegan for 13 years.
👍🙂
Anything special about doing a 3-day fast, being on meds for hypothyroidism.
Starting my fast July 18 - August 21 and I’m finna fast while I’m on my period even though my period last 3 or 4 days .
🙏
