nice shoot, yje 300wsm?? what do you think about the eld-m for hunting? ill probably use a fox classic 180gn for mine when I get it.
Hi, the 195 ELD-M is a great projectile for long range shooting. However if you’re average range is always closer than 300 yards I’d choose something that’s a bit harder as they can over expand and under penetrate at close range due to them being a softer construction. I get away with it as the 300wsm is pushing them at 2805 fps and the 195 has enough mass for the animals I’m shooting. If you are expecting velocities above 3000fps I would recommend something of harder construction, unless you were only going to shoot at long range. Same applies if you are shooting very large animals bigger than a red stag, or dangerous game, I would recommend something harder.
It comes down to the combination of bullet weight, animal size, and impact velocity.
Damage is extensive at all ranges compared to harder projectiles, making them great for long range ethical kills.
You will notice I usually shoot head or neck if I’m wanting meat because of the damage at closer ranges. Hope this helps.
Thanks for watching. 👍😁
Lol epic title!
Cheers mate!! 😁👍👍
nice job bro, what national park did you go to?, is there any track can get there?
Hi, this is actually a back corner of some private land that I hunt. However there is a lot of public land that can be hunted in many parts of NZ. Information on access can be found on the Department of Conservation (DOC) website or on certain map Apps like NZ Topo50 .
Hope this helps, thanks for watching 👍
How was the coffee? Great shot 👏👏
Ah well it’s hard to complain about a coffee on the hill 😁 thanks much appreciated 👍👍
Would you be willing to do a setup video sometime on your Tikka 300WM? Really think you've got a great combination going there
Hi, yes no problem will go over that soon 👍
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting thanks, look forward to it 👍👍
Do ya cut the pigs open for the birds and other pigs to get into them ?
Hi , yes if I don’t use the meat for some reason I’ll usually do that. They get cleaned up pretty quick around here. As long as they aren’t close to a creek. Cheers.
Nice shooting mate👌
Hey screw the deer keep the pig vids coming as the only thing as gd as shooting a pig is smashing a feral cat👌
Did a Farmer Assist feral cull out at Longreach last wk an nailed a cat in the process so stoked as👍👍
Stay safe budd 🤙
Mate! That’s awesome, I do agree with you on that. There is a big problem with them here in NZ. Cheers, stay safe 👍
How the hell do you farm that country?
It’s certainly not an easy chunk of land to farm that’s for sure. 😁
helicopter plow
@@stevenchristie6165 A Heli would come in handy 😁
Cracker shot bro. Where are you based if you don’t mind me asking.
Cheers mate. In Marlborough 👍
you could tell she was skinny in the video lol.. im all about pig hunting (and have dogs) but whats a the point of shooting a skinny sow with young ones who will no doubt not make it now...
Hi, I see you’re point for sure, but they are a big problem for us, so it’s more about control then it is about sport or harvest when it comes to pigs. Her milk was already drying up so looks like they were going to be weaned soon. Iv have seen them again since in the same area so they are definitely still ticking along.
I do see your point as it’s not very nice if young animals can’t survive on there own which I am conscious of, but all these young pigs in the last few videos are still being seen around and will no doubt be on future vids at some point 😉. Thanks for watching.
Good luck hunting, stay safe out there.👍
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting fair enough mate, cheers for the reply
