From one Amy to another, this is exactly what I shall paint for my wife's 50th birthday! I'm a true beginner and love to paint! THANK YOU for sharing! You rock!
I've been painting with some kids, 4, 10, and 13, and I used your tutorial to paint backgrounds for each of them. Three full moons - one for each of them to choose what they want in front of it. Thank you so much! You are helping me rock with them!
Thanks for this tutorial! My adult son arranged a painting class for the two of us to enjoy this evening and we'll be doing a painting of the moon and stars. I've watched your tutorial twice to prepare for tonight's painting fun. I love the techniques you used.
Just now caught this video. I was looking for a moon since my nearly 2yr old grandson LOVES the moon. I would paint a silhouette of a little boy pointing at “the MOON!” Loved this tutorial
you have no idea how much you inspire me...wonderful painting again... i have painted atleast 3 paintings of yours and have them suiting my style...thanks and keep on going...
Wow!Now I could understand how to paint because your show showed the closed captioning Thank you for thinking of deaf artists I am one of them Yay!,, Keep up with your artistic skills! Patricia Ann Christian 🙂
You are too cute - Loved how easy this was. Now I think I will pick up some of those craft paints in my favorite colors. Plan to paint this along with your Weeping cherry tree.
Ive have been trying to find an easy tutorial on how to do something similar to this for a mood board and this is by far the easiest and most effective. Thanks
Nice Amy...great explanation...looks nice...I enjoy watching Grant paint..he's very smart..great personality little guy..your a good mom..can you have a playlist with the vids when you both paint..easier to find..thanks for this..love it..
i haven't tried to paint this moon but iv painted a small planet and put some glow in the dark paint on it to see if it worked. and it did it looked really cool i even did some glowing stars aswell :) oh and yes you put it on last
Jackie, that's because it has been sped up in the interest of time so you can quickly see the end result. Pause it at each stage and follow along, it's a lot easier than one would think to achieve the same result. I used to think there was no way I could create artwork like this, but I was wrong. :-)
I was (and still am) about as beginner as a beginner can possibly get - and I did not find this difficult to follow at all. I guess you just have to want to take the time to watch it through, then start it over and pause it as you follow along and complete each step. Yes, it's rushed in the interest of time, but it is not too difficult for a beginner to grasp if they want to. The steps are simple.
Love your technique! I already painted a black background with a white moon but knew I needed to somehow get it to "glow." I'm going to let it dry and repaint it the way you demonstrated. I think I'm going to make the stars and rim with glow in the dark paint. Thanks for the great tips!!
Amy, I just love your tutorials! You make everything look so easy and I learned very quickly that you are a true artist in every sense of the word. I attempted this lovely moon and even though the end product turned out pretty good, I managed to paint my table which I had covered, my fore arm, all of my fingers, my nose and when I looked down, both of my dogs have pretty blue noses. LOL Just thought I'd share. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your talent.
Thank you very much, Amy! Especially for showing paints and brushes - it's very useful for beginners. You explain everything very clear. Thank you so much!
When ever i try blending the background, my paint always dries out too quick, even if I use a retarder, my paint ends up becoming cakey, forcing me to stop.
Why the hell is ugly art that you can't even make out so expensive? That moon painting she did jumps off the paper, looks realer than the moon we all see in the sky at night! Her painting should be $500,000.00.. I'm mad at artists who squat over a canvas 1-6 hours after they drink a bottle of Magnesium Citrate and make 100s of thousands.
You make it so easy... very talented. Thanks for all your tutorials... I would like to paint two lovebirds with two baby birds on each side standing/sitting on a tree branch. Maybe just a silhouette.
Nice painting, you are very talented! I followed your tutorial and made my very first painting, thank you for inspiring and the tutorial! Keep up the good work. :)
Young Lady, you R wonderful! Extremely talented! Thank you for great videos! I'm a recently retired school teacher and I feel so blessed to have serendipitously come across your videos, because they've motivated me to get back to painting. BTW, you would make a great school teacher!

what do you mean by twist and push?? is it just dabbing the paint with a sponge because thats what it looks like??
I love this. Nice layering of color and great for illustration purposes. Good tips. Thanks!
Wow, you're amazing :D I will be painting this with a quote on the moon and adding Christmas lights to light up the stars in the background!

Sound like a fantastic idea! Have you tried it? Do you have to make it the last level you apply?

She made it look easy as fk
Satoko Chan
She moves way too fast. Not easy to follow. Too rushed.

Tina
Yeah, I get that, and that works for some areas, but not for the details of the moon itself. Would be hard to grasp for a beginner.
I think it's easy o.0

get a small spray mister bottle -- you can gently spray the paper and make the acrylic a little more workable when it has dried
Sameeeee here that's my only problem
My favorite part is the stars too ! Amazing painting I love it
