    6) Carl Lewis - 10.28
    7) James Trapp - 10.30
    8) Michael Bates - 10.32
Note: Carl Lewis was recovering from a virus in New Orleans and thus failed to make the U.S. team in the 100m, 200m, or the 4 x 100m relay. However, when Mark Witherspoon injured himself in the semi-final of the 100m in Barcelona, Carl was invited to anchor the U.S. 4 x 100m relay team. Carl's auto-timed split of 8.77 led the United States to the gold medal in this event. He also won gold in the long jump.

These commentators forgot to mention James Trapp as a football player. He played for Clemson & was drafted by the Raiders & had a very good career as a defensive corner back! That's weird that they missed this. OJ was slipping! Hahaha

Commentator: "OJ, you were a football player/sprinter @ college..."
OJ: "Don't forget movie star, hahahaha"
Little did they know double murderer and armed robber would soon be added to his CV/rap. He also kept prattling on about "Carl Lewis being able to accelerate away from 70 metres unlike anybody else." Nobody's accelerating after 75m, they're either maintaining max speed for a few more metres or decelerating slightly less than their opponents. Should know this if he's on national TV as an expert commentator.

a devastating moment for Lewis. You could tell he was putting on a brave face in the interview. He would have been in tears in private. He always believed Christie was on drugs, and that he was faster than Burrell. But he was never the same again, he peaked in 91.

Tokyo 1991 was his last legal 100m under 10 seconds. However, he was capable of running 9.94 (+2.1) in 1996, beating Donovan Bailey.

@@octopusmagnificens Lewis is one of the best to ever do it. He was rly the first sprinter to be a celebrity of sorts. But, he wasn't gonna do any damage in the 100m in 1996.

The analysis of the race by Mr Simpson is poor. He refers to Carl Lewis ability to accelerate at 70 metres which is a physical impossibility. Mr Lewis simply had the ability to slow down the least which gives the false impression of acceleration.

Actually Carl Lewis was one of the few athletes who could accelerate at the end of 100 meters, I believe it was proven

But they still let Lewis run anchor in the relay in Barcelona and they set the WR. Maybe the WR would have been faster with one of these other guys who beat Lewis here.

Nope, relay running is of a different mentality, did you know that Ben Johnson wasnt good anchor man, I dont know what she would of done lately but certainly Shelly Ann Fraser didnt gave jamaica any advantage when she did the starting duties for the j'can team. She even admitted that she wasnt a great relay runner back then.

@@annmarieclarke9107 BJ wasnt a good anchor man?!. lol. where are you getting your info from exactly?.. the reason carl was anchor was that he has a good top speed and does a fast double too. Peter S is absolutely correct though. someone who beat Carl here wouldve been faster than him on whatever leg he runs.
