    I'm not a nail tech, and am still learning about how best to care for my own nails, but sounds like you are giving great advice. Hoping you have a lovely week!

    I m a nail technician and i absolutely agree with all those things on your video....!! There is only one thing that i recommend my clients..."rest time" or "recovery time"?!?! ... after a year/ half year or so... depends on the nail quality, i think should be some small time for the nails to rest.....(great job and i m looking forward for your advices)🤗

    I have had bad service...no attention to guarding my natural nail or at least rushing to get me in and out. I am now doing my own nails. They are far from perfect, but I know that I can take my time and the results look pretty good. I got an infection from a pedicure and ended up on anti bionics. The salon is one of those fancy places with chandeliers and supposedly, lots of disinfecting of the tools. The gal cut into my skin near my toe and caused bleeding. I left there knowing I was going to have an issue but was heading out of town. Ended up at the doctors a few days later with throbbing pain. Not worth it. The doctor said she saw lots of nail infections from local salons. This made my stomach turn!

    Let’s compare the argument of acetone and nails. The ‘chemists’ say that the nail is dead you can leave clippings in acetone for however long and it won’t damage it. Well, of course, it’s no longer attached to the body. You can say the same for hair but hair products and tools can damage. They are both keratin. Have you guys seen a nail ripped off of the nail plate? It’s spongy and moist. Acetone is drying and when you add removal to the process, it CAN damage the nail. Nail techs see it every day but the use of oils help slow down or mask the damage. If you don’t use it, then the nail dries out, gets white patches and sometimes even splits from weakening. It’s so bad, they now have a product to put under nail treatments to help prevent and repair damage. Nail products are damaging because of chemicals and the tools we use. But, we can help minimize by using safe products and procedures. I’m tired of people being ignorant in the fact of it all. We need to be responsible in a volatile industry. The UK is having an allergy epidemic and people are turning a blind eye. We need to use professional products with research and development behind them. We can all accept that uv and led lamps cause cellular damage to the body, we just need to be responsible with their use, I think. Use sunscreen or gloves, make sure your customers don’t have medical conditions that worsen with uv exposure, etc. Buy products that are hypoallergenic and know what you are using. Do research on HEMA and HPMA and how it is causing allegies.

    I live in the states and I’m a Nail Tech from NJ. All of our Rules & Regulations are different from state to state. But with removing extensions I remove mine the same way as you. I always leave a little on the nail plate, & always end each removal with Cuticle Oil. I also had a Ring of Fire 🔥 once that was done by another tech way before I was a tech. It hurt like a son of a b___. It lasted for years probably like 2 I kept up with Cuticle Oil on my nails especially on that one a good Oil and eventually it went away.

    Very awesome video very informative. I love doing my nails I only paint them but I am thinking about Becoming A nail technician.. There are quite a few schools here for it where I live.. I am just not a very good test taker. That is the only thing that scares me and very good at hands on and learning. But I am not good at taking test what would you suggest.

    • @Nailcou
      @Nailcou  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just take your time to prepare properly - from what I heard that State Board exam is not that hard. You just need to learn the information from the textbook. There are plenty of books and resources specialising on this test - take some time to prepare, you can do it!

    Hello thanks for the video, I am 12 and want to get acrylics. If I get them done at a normal salon is that okay? My nails can grow to be very long but very flimsy. Currently, I cut my nails down and they are very short. What do you think is good? Gels? Acrylics? Tips?

      Fiber gel is a gel with tiny pieces of fiber glass or silk usually for natural nail overlay or sometimes can be used for extensions.

    What is your opinion about pinching nails with acrylic ? Isn't it so that if you do that from now on for multiple times up to a year or even say 2 years or even longer because the person loves it so much... isn't it not going to change the shape of the nail plate and with that, the nail bed forever?

    Why do I get itchy skin around my nail after using simple gel nail + reinforcing gel ( still gel but thicker and clear) ? This happened on my hands and not on my feet ( toes). People say it's Allergy but why not on my feet ? It lasts for 3 days and then the itchiness is gone.

    So I have a story and I am wondering if you have an idea of what happened. I have a new client that just gets gel polish. She said she had acrylic nails once and will never do them again because they ruined her nails. She had them done for her wedding years ago and everything seemed fine and on her honeymoon she said they started to hurt so she whent to a salon in the area and had them taken off. After they soaked them off there were small holes all over her nail beds. She said all the techs in the salon were shocked and had never seen it before and gave her a bottle keratin treatment to use every day. She was asking me if I had any idea what would cause that and the only thing I could tell her was maybe the nail tech that did it used a non professional product that was bad.

    • @heidif1796
      @heidif1796 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lizbosen771 I did not know that. She said they were a normal color but it looked like someone took a needle and poked holes all over her nails. Now her nails are beautiful, long and healthy

    • @Nailcou
      @Nailcou  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's really hard to guess without seeing a picture, but I think it could be because of the service she did - they over filed nail a little (it didn't hurt yet) and also were working with wet consistency of acrylic. After a while access monomer was "locked" and started penetrating into the nail bed causing allergic reactions... But that's just a guess.

    acrylics do make your nails thinner, I've used expensive and high quality acrylic products it doesn't have anything to do with it, acrylic will damage your natural nails but that's what u get if you want pretty nails, even tho my nails are paper thin BC of acrylic I won't stop using it BC I love them

  • @ruthfes2331

    R u kidding me? Nails become thin by puffing it alone, not to mention the acrylic and gel
