As a Yaw 2 owner, I can say some of your concerns have somewhat easy solutions. My cables are on a ceiling mount line system (under $40 on Amazon) which allows for the full 360 and as for the base movement, I built a small wooden cart with rubber toolbox casters on it that can be winched up and down, this allows me to move the unit to the corner of the room when not in use and totally eliminates any base movement while in use. (under $100 on amazon.) This being said, my unit has been broken longer than it has worked, the Yaw 2 is riddled with mechanical problems. Hopefully, much of this is resolved in the Yaw 3 but my next motion platform will likely be a DOF reality.
Thank you very much for your insight! Always good to hear from actual Yaw users vs. me who just spent under an hour with the unit. So I get the impression if you like that extra pitch back and full 360 movement, just plan do do a lot of customizing to get everything where you want it? Quick question, how does the unit "feel" when you use it? Does it feel stable or does it still feel kind of "arcadey" like a carnival ride? Every movement I felt was very jerky but I assume that can be tuned out with the software? Also, how much room did you give yourself for the full 360 motion? Thanks in advance for your answers... I love the idea of the YAW but not sure it is fully realized in practice.
@@GYGOtv The operation is very smooth, it will simulate the tracks on a roller coaster quite well. That may have been what you were feeling. The room required for the full 360 is not as much as you would think but honestly I rarely do a full 360 while using it, it tends to take away from immersion more than it gives. However I do not do helicopter sims and you can get the feeling of the rear of a vehicle slipping out with minimal movement. I've watched most of your videos and I am honestly kicking myself for not going with the 6DOF.
@@nickg2691 Well thanks for watching! Yep that is kind of where my thoughts are... that 360 Yaw seems to me to be the least important axis but yet it is the one they seem to promote a lot. I love my H6, and don't think I'd trade it for the Yaw... but that full back tilt was incredible!
@@GYGOtv Yeah, I think they are still figuring things out with the Yaw2. As a platform, it has potential but isn't there quite yet. If they make it to a V3 with additional platforms allowing 6DOF and improve its reliability it will be a top contender for sure.
Good video. The yaw movement comes into play in more frequently than you may think. It adds a lot to many motion situations where, IRL, you're not actually yawing. As I'm sure you know, in VR, it's all about tricking your mind and your muscular skeletal system into believing what you're seeing in VR. Also, Yaw VR are actively working on an improved center stick mounting schema, and a focused helicopter platform. Unlimited yaw travel has always been possible with a wireless HMD, and with the latest Yaw3, the only cable going to the Yaw3 is the power cable. Everything else is wireless. A 4 point harness has been available since the early days of the Yaw2. The timing belt drive of the latest Yaw 3 is far less jarring than the cog wheel drive of previous designs.
@@VRSimWizard Thank you for the comment and insight. I actually did try the Yaw 3 so that is my only Yaw experience. The question isn't if yaw is important... It is if 360 yaw is really needed, or is the limited yaw from say a DOF Reality rig enough? As for the wireless headset, the issue with that is all the high end VR Headsets that most simmers prefer are all wired, so Quest 3 is really your only option and that is not good enough for a lot of enthusiasts (I personally think the Quest 3 is the best value in VR currently, but I can understand why others want more for sure). Yaw will certainly have an audience, just not sure who it is best for yet.
@@GYGOtv , Mark, I understand. I'm actually a former pro photographer and videographer, and a former US Navy aviator, and am a REAL stickler for image quality. However, I've found the Quest 3 to be more than adequate, especially when combined with a solid model profile and proper motion sim. You quickly forget about the slightly-less-than world class image quality, as I'm sure you know. Always on the lookout for the next highest quality wireless HMD. This has to be the direction companies are going, and they are getting there, but very slowly. Dennis
@@VRSimWizard Well thank you for your service!!! Hope you have enjoyed some of our other videos as well, done 2 now with a former F/A-18 Marine Pilot, callsign Pooch th-cam.com/video/j8uG0cEtHE0/w-d-xo.html and here th-cam.com/users/live_J20f_D-4Hg Headset direction is interesting, hardcore sim enthusiasts still want the direct connection DP Cable, while the roomscale crowd wants wireless. Hopefully a headset will be able to incorporate both someday down the road. Personally, I think wireless has gotten the the point now that you don't need the DP Cable if you have a good router but I'm certainly in the minority on that one.
@@GYGOtv , I've seen one of your Pooch videos. Really enjoyed it. Sorry I missed meeting you at this year's FSE. I helped man the Yaw VR booth last year in Houston.
@@VRSimWizard Hopefully we can meet next year, It will be interesting to see how far Yaw has progressed by then. Interesting concept and I wish them the best for sure. Maybe I'll get to put one through it's paces next time around :)
As an owner of the yaw 2. The rotation is amazing for traction loss in cars as you really feel the weight of the car when you say spin 180 or catching a slide but agree on the use in planes. Helicopters though do benefit. Also, I mounted a full gt omega alu profile to mine and it's so much better.
@@GYGOtv I had to reinforce the flat base where the seat normally goes as it did bend a bit but that was from using that bloody app to test with me in it and I slid my finger on the pitch and it went way too fast up in to the air before my finger slipped and slammed me down again. I then bent it back and drilled lots of wholes to put the alu profile all the way across it and not had an issue since. The new yaw 3 should be even better too as more power than the standard yaw 2
@@MusicByNumbersUK Wow sounds like you put some work into it. I'd love to see what it looks like... if you don't mind please email me a photo or 2 to gygomail@gmail.com. I'm still learning all about the YAW stuff!
Hi, I am debating myself which buy between this yaw 3 or dof p3. I want to order it this week.I want it for racing, to feel the acceleration, braking, and of course very important the traction loss. Could you (anyone who owns thw yaw for racing) share with me your thoughts about yaw3 for racing? I have some doubts because that central table mount doesn’t seem sturdy enough for a direct drive wheel, and there is no clear way of mounting the gearshift neither. It seems to me that is been more focused for flight sim. Reallly please! Give me your opinion on this. I have seem a lot of good comments about dof reeality p3, but i am a yaw backer that at this moment can pay for a quick delivery and get it now . But really I have the doubt if for simracing maybe yaw3 is still less mature and no so good as the dof p3, which comes with a real frame to put the wheel, pedals and gearshift …Thank you very much for your help
Great video! I'm actually a kickstarter in the 200s and still waiting for mine. Even though it's been three years, I'm happy to hear we'll be getting an upgraded version hopefully this year. I think the backward pitch is the real seller here as no other motion unit can replicate that. Crossing fingers us kickstarters will be receiving soon!
I'm sure YawVR appreciates your patience for sure. Talking to Zsolt it sounded like things were ramping up so hope you get yours soon. I can't imagine waiting that long for something as cool as this. I know my H6 was a game changer for me and my simming experience. Hope it is the same for you!
I’m in the same boat, or plane lol! My backer number is in the 700s. Three years and still waiting is indeed a long time. I would imagine that some elderly backers may have passed away already. 😬
@@kennykanada Well I hope you stick around long enough to enjoy yours once you get it. It is like waiting for Star Citizen to get finished so I kinda understand :)
Thanks Mark for the 1st impression. Glad you got to try it. Maybe a good rubber matt may stop the base sliding but I also noticed it lifting on occasion with the aggressive motion. My main deterant with the H3 is the lack of tilt angle for climb and descent, which I'm guessing is slightly negated in VR. The YAW seem more than adequate with this. I hope you are provided with a YAW review unit.
Thanks TDub! I think the big question is if the increased pitch angle of the YAW is worth sacrificing the stability of the H3, and that is a big toss up right now. I can tell you, unless the YAW just amazes me, I can't see me trading off my H6 for it... I think you would give up too much just to get that extra pitch, but we will see.
I've got mine on a carpet, but I guess I am not doing much of the drastic movements. I use it for simracing, and when I crash I usually quickly hit the menu button to stop being thrown around. It probably helps that I've got the Yaw 2 with the middle desk with two massive arms, and the Yaw module too which all add weight and keep it to its place (the Yaw 3 reduced the weight by something like 40% IIRC). But I admit that the GVGO footage shows the Yaw 3 moving all over the place so you want to have at least use a rubber mat. If you are flying C172 General Aviation kind of planes you don't have to worry, it's all far to smooth. Which actually let me go for simracing when I decided what to use it for, as I grew tired of refitting controls (and fitting both doesn't work with a steering wheel & yoke). But it's a fun device and I find myself using it quite frequently (and sim flight really has suffered as I miss the motion)
@@Axacuatl Thanks for the comment... Ya I can't fly anymore without motion... It just feels wrong now. As for sim racing, if you ever get the chance I would argue that nothing beats the DOF Reality H6 for that. That side sway when you hit a guardrail or another car is amazing and I LOVE the heave for feeling road textures and maybe when you catch some air :) Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the Yaw is great too but man H6 and racing is like a match made in heaven. Appreciate you watching.
Hey Mark, cool vid. We discussed the yaw3 at your booth on Friday heading into FSEXPO. I definitely see potential here after trying it out myself. Looking forward to seeing an update review before pulling the plug.
Ya we will see if I end up with a demo unit. I feel like it and the H3 might each have advantages but my gut feeling is the DOF Reality H6 is still going to give a much superior experience. Of course I'll keep an open mind but that is what my gut is telling me right now. Thanks for the comment!
When you mentioned " I dont think you can do yaw rotation when you have a yolk" You can do 360 via wireless usb there is a raspi built in the 3 I installed one as well on my Yaw2
How is the latency on that? I always get worried with wireless... it always seems to fail right as I'm coming in for a carrier landing or something equally as important.
Tremendous job on your initial impressions, really. At first I expected a very biased review due to your apparent connection and love for DOF Reality products. Your impressions seemed not only fair, but very useful. Subscribed! I really hope they do send you a review Yaw3 unit as soon as they are shipping those! I'd love to hear your full opinion after having had the opportunity to thoroughly test it. I'd also love to get your take on using it for simracing as well. I'm one of the kickstarter backers... otherwise I might have shelled out coin for an H6 years ago (I think they were considerably less costly)! I'm just gonna wait... and wait... and wait more. I do believe they will eventually deliver.
Hi Steveb7777, THANKS FOR THE SUB!!! And thank you for noticing our attempt at unbiased reviews and opinions. I pride myself on trying to be fair! Another example is my Quest 3 review ( th-cam.com/video/jV5otY20y0U/w-d-xo.html ) as I HATE Meta (see rant here th-cam.com/video/sD-ItA-0_EM/w-d-xo.html ) but the Quest 3 deserves the praise it has received as what I think is the Best Value in VR currently. As for racing... you probably won't want to hear this but give up on the YAW and go with an H6... Ironic huh, but hear me out. For racing you really don't need the large negative pitch and unless you are planning on drifting (or driving badly a lot) the 360 spin really isn't a big deal either. What is a BIG DEAL, is the extra Surge and especially SWAY when you hit something on the side it REALLY feels like you have side swiped a solid object. The heave is amazing for feeling that road texture... and if you do Off Road, that HEAVE is perfect for jumps etc. SRS's Jeff Weaver and I discussed this a lot on one of my gaming livestreams if you want to hear a more in depth analysis... you can find that here (I've fast forwarded to the racing part). th-cam.com/video/lsPbbYEy95s/w-d-xo.html So I hope this analysis will help make my case... Don't get me wrong, I think the YAW will be better than not having motion BUT if you want the best experience for motion while racing at an affordable price point, the H6 is the one for sure! Please let me know if you have any other questions and again thanks for watching... I hope you enjoy the channel.
@@GYGOtv Thanks for the reply! I'll have to wait and see what I spend more time doing, flight or racing sim. I'm not even sure yet. I basically gave up both after having a taste of motion with the Yaw2. I have to have motion. That said, I didn't expect I'd be waiting for years! If I end up doing flight sim more, I might decide the pitch really matters. Either way, I have a Yaw3 coming eventually. Unless they open up refunds and I go that route. There is the fact that I'd be my getting the Yaw3 at a reduced price, not factoring in the years I've waited! I did pay about $2,500 for the 3DOF pro and some only paid around $1,200 for a 2DOF (non-pro). Ballpark numbers. So far Yaw is saying it is probably not going to have a 2DOF Yaw3 option, and is going to give all remaining backers the same Yaw3 (3DOF) and hasn't figured out yet how to make it fair to backers who paid more.
Agree with you on the yaw axis - of all the axes you DONT need a specialised seat for, spinning on the Y axis is it. Any office chair can do that. Id rather see a lower priced 2-DOF only model with pitch and roll only, and none of that stuttering starts and stops.
I know and the irony is it is called a YAW! Hopefully I'll get the chance to test one more but I know right now they are trying to deliver to customers so I wouldn't want to get a test unit before some of the people who have been waiting for so long get theirs... we will see what happens down the road. Thanks for the comment!
LOL, no serious flight simmer is going to be using a Quest 3 (don't get me wrong, I love mine) but everyone is going toward the Pimax Light it seems. So the HOTAS can all be done wireless? Please tell me more.
@@GYGOtv They were providing a VirtualHere solution. If you have a tethered headset anyway, you'll have to use the return function that constantly slowly returns to center origin.
@@KydDynoMyte_ Awesome, great to know that is a function... as I said, I this was my first time in the YAW so I appreciate all the info you veterans are providing here. Great Stuff!!!
@@GYGOtv Serious flight simmers should be getting into mixed reality cockpits for the extra immersion it brings. Shame Varjo is the only one allowing passthrough camera access to be able to chroma key in just your hands, arms, controls, etc. instead of having to make a whole detailed simpit to crop in since Quest3 doesn't have that direct passthrough camera access.
Seems to me the obvious solution for 360 rotation would be to just build a usb hub into the base of the system with ports on the platform to plug your peripherals into. Ditto power, just have an outlet on the platform for anything that requires power. Not that 360 rotation should be an issue for anything that would use a steering wheel...
I'm not an expert on the Yaw by any means, but I think they did that with the Yaw2 and it caused lots of problems and was constantly breaking. Not sure if the good ones are too expensive to get the Price Point where they want to keep it or what, but they did at least try that method. Thanks for the comment.
I'm looking to spend $5k-8k on a Motion platform, but VERY new to these products. I mostly play American Truck Simulator and Microsoft Flight Sim, but also would like a platform that will do well with roller coaster games for my kids. Any advice would be appreciated, would like to have a platform ordered within the next few days. Also never used VR and was curious if the Meta Quest 2 or 3 would suffice.
Thanks for the question @DaManAbove, and welcome to this amazing world of motion!. I haven't tested the YAW enough to recommend it yet... but honestly from what you are telling me I think your best choice would be a DOF Reality H6 (which is what I own). It will be great in all simulators like American Truck Simulator and MSFS. If you want to see it in action on a roller coaster watch this th-cam.com/video/Vd5aCnDFRYI/w-d-xo.html I have a lot of videos on my channel with the H6, so feel free to look around and see what you find. I also have a discount code listed on my newest H6 videos (I can't put it here because the search algorithms will find it so I have to put it in the videos themselves). If you want to know why I recommend the H6 over other platforms, you can watch that here th-cam.com/video/nzmRzF7YQBA/w-d-xo.html and that video will give you an idea of other platforms that are available to buy out there if the DOF Reality just isn't your thing. Certainly if you have any other questions feel free to ask. As for the VR question, Yes on the Quest 3 and NO NO NO NO on the Quest 2. I have a video comparing all the entry level headsets here th-cam.com/video/opD35xl5PwA/w-d-xo.html and specifically the Quest 3 here th-cam.com/video/jV5otY20y0U/w-d-xo.html If you want to step up the VR a little, the new Pimax Crystal Light seems to be the best bang for the buck right now pimax.com/pages/crystal-light. If you choose that direction, I may have a discount code for the Pimax and I'll dig it out if you decide to buy one. So I think I've given you plenty to watch, again don't hesitate with any questions you might have. This is an amazing hobby and I'm glad you found our channel and I hope it helps. Let me know how it goes.
@@johnmann7o2 I gotta lean toward the H6 for Truck Sim... the Sway is really awesome if you hit something on the side and you don't really need the extra Pitch for those. For roller coasters and I think Helicopters I agree the Yaw appears to fit that better.
I agree 100% EXCEPT for that backwards tilt... I'd like to experience it in the F/A-18! I can say for racing the DOF Reality H6 is the way to go for sure and nothing even comes close in my opinion. Thanks for watching.

You will see the movement you state and will need to ramp the power up which could burn out the motor possibly. It also makes the movements smoother along with SMS software. I am keen to see the yaw 3
I'm no expert on the Yaw by any means, but I do think they tried something like that with the Yaw2 and it caused issue after issue. I'm sure somebody on TH-cam probably talks more about it if you do a search. Thanks for the comment.
Maybe... I think you are sacrificing the stability so I might argue with you the DOF Reality H6 is the best design overall. Time will tell, thanks for the comment.
@@hrbeta Absolutely agree with you there... just don't know if in practice that design will really work the way it looks like it should. Glad you are enjoying your P6... they are awesome aren't they!
@@GYGOtv Well the YAW platform has a very small footprint. Some stability might be regained with a bigger base. The H6 Is wide and it's actuators mostly move up/down so the momentum is not 'pushing' sideways as much, if you know what I mean. The guy in the video is also, not small shall we say, and that adds to the momentum when it translates on it's axes, so unless it is properly secured, it is more likely to move. But it looks powerful enough to move him around.
It does look good doesn't it? I will definitely be looking into buying one. It has great potentials. It's also good to have a bit of competition on the marked. Hopefully others will jump on the wagon, so we can jump on the motion platform :)
I have no idea, I have no connection to YawVR. I just tried the unit at FSExpo but haven't been in contact since. I've heard delivery is still an issue for some but don't really know much more than that. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
I'm concerned about two things with the YAW 3. Price, and the design of the mounting plate - central post between the legs - exactly where I'd want my flight stick to be mounted - while I keep my racing wheel on the plate. I like the range of both pitch and yaw it offers, but there are certainly some things to hold me back.
They had a racing frame option for the Yaw2. Many people make their own frame out of t-slot. They have smaller plates for the yaw2 and quit making the big desk. I am surprised to see it back. But I bet there will be a small plate for it available too.
I don't know some of these Jets. If you stand on the rudder you get a lot of turn and it's really handy when you're flying. Really low tracking something that's Still 10, 15, 20 miles out.
@@clicktresni6298 I think the instability of the rig would really be obvious in War Thunder... I'm not 100% sold on this vs. a DOF Reality Rig, which is Rock Solid. Hope to actually test a YAW 3 someday and put it through its paces in sims like that. Time will tell I guess.
I think they only have ac power going through the slip ring now. Streamlined and got rid of a lot of the failure points. Wi-Fi is usually terrible at shows. Recently discovered after the show you can use power line network adapters to connect the Yaw3 to the network instead of using wifi if needed.
@@GYGOtv Yes you should. At least you have been able to on the yaw2. I haven't heard of them taking away the Virtual Here solution. One of the Yaw3 testers mentioned 4 USB ports on the one side of the chair opposite side from the AC plug on top. The YawVR is very different than most other rigs. It has a pi in it and uses a network interface for the motion software to talk to it.
Not sure... Probably would mount but wasn't super stable so probably some flex. Also didn't like the center pole on there. If I get one to try someday I'll have a better answer. Thanks for watching.
You must be younger than me LOL, That thing would kill my back after while. Us old guys need more support! Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you enjoy your original YAW!
I can tell you right now the DOF Reality H6 is AMAZING in Elite Dangerous, one of the best experiences you can have in the motion rig! Having the 3 extra motions of sway, surge and heave really add the the realism of flying those spaceships. I'd imagine Star Citizen will be similar. @@GYGOtv the slip ring used to have AC power, Ethernet and USB going through it. The USB was not always reliable. I believe now just AC power is going through the slip ring. A user with a yaw3 was able to use PowerLine Ethernet adapters the other day to get his Yaw3 on the network as a test, but wifi should work fine for most people at home.
@@GYGOtv Yes, the Yaw2 has that. I guess they dropped it for Yaw3 for simplicity, plus I believe the slip ring was expensive and getting a reliable one that would work for a long time and be available in the future for parts was part of it.
Ya I doubt that will ever happen. I know DOF Reality has looked into it and Distributors want a lot of money to provide them, so the Motion Platforms would cost like 40% more than they do now. I guess the question is would you rather have it affordable or local for purchase? Thanks for the comment.
So how well does that connection work for your HOTAS? I've heard the wireless seems to drop in and out which can be a problem when you are controlling your aircraft with it.

Thanks for the question... IMO if you are racing buy the H6!!! it should be about the same price as the P3 but those extra degrees of motion are AMAZING for racing. Most people think the H6 is more for flight but let me tell you, the sway to the side when you side swipe a car or a guardrail really feels like you hit something. The heave for the little bumps on the track just feels real and then you have the surge for gearshifts etc. Jeff weaver and I discuss this here in our impromptu video th-cam.com/video/lsPbbYEy95s/w-d-xo.html and if you want to see the H6 in action racing... here you go th-cam.com/video/VxwCUUzOAyA/w-d-xo.html. Really is a NO BRAINER on this again in my opinion. Don't forget our discount code which can be found in our DOF Videos.
Thanks for your quick response. Well, not so close in prices. I am in Europe, the p3 its 4.400 euros, the h6 is 6.800, both with transport and taxes according to dof web. I was looking at the p versions because this is something expensive I going to buy once in many years and to me spending a 15% more if the product is better build, precise and durable probably makes sense that extra cost. But yes, you are convincing to the h6 with the extra movements.Anyway, I am having a hard time to decide cause as a yaw backer for “only” 2k euros extranI could get the yaw3 .. i play in VR so I don’t know if the extra pitch and the yaw ranges of the yaw could make it a good bet for feeling more acceleration and traction loss and in curve g-forces. What do you think about that? The jarring stop and rudeness of the movements that you comment in your video could be worse for flight but best reactions for racimg? Edit: looking closely to dof reality web it seems that the "taxes" the show at the checkout page doesnt include neither VAT (21%) or customs arancel (2,5% I think), so they are not so competitvie now vs the yaw3 option
@@franciscojmunoz3938 Ahh ok... that is weird because they are usually the most affordable but obviously I don't live over there. It might be worth an email to them just to confirm the price and make sure the website isn't calculating wrong (it is a fairly new website update so there still could be some bugs they don't know about). Anyway, I can't really speak to the Yaw3 for racing, I just know it felt a lot more unstable and to me it might feel more like an arcade machine than a motion rig but again I have very limited time in it. If the Yaw 3 is only going to cost you 2k more it might be worth a try, but then again you could get an H3 for about that much and eventually upgrade. Tough call for sure but I can tell you I'd go H6 for racing... it just is that good IMO. Hope that helps.
Ladt question, this time about dof reality.. for a casual user like me (max 15 h a week) do you think p6 extra cost over h6 worth it in terms of maybe been faster, more precise and durable?
I have no idea, I only had 30 min with it and only tried the demos they offered. If I get one to test out I'll have more time to try stuff like that so stay tuned.

Now that the PSVR2 can hook to a computer I'm sure you could... I doubt it would work off the PS5 however, I think it needs to be driven by a PC. But that is just a guess as I don't actually have one and used it for less than an hour. I'm sure other owners can probably give you better info. Sorry.
Ya you can limit the rotation so probably about a 6x5 ft. space would work... of course that takes away one of the key features of the Yaw when you do that so I get what you mean. thanks for the comment.
The Roll ist too little, i have the Yaw 2.5, a little bit more Roll ;)) The Bearings from Roll Modul, musst many carry with the Pitch move. The Plastik Cap going, with the Time then from this Bearings, and this Bearings eat then in the Roll-Modul. I have now with Adhesive the Plasik-Cap Assembled. It still holds! And i go not over 22% Performance. I drive with the Fisher Amp Buttkicker, and this need Cable.

The jarring is the WiFi app. Very bad for this. Much smoother in srs but the old geared ones do suffer a bit from over shoot. Hopefully the belt one doesn't..
@@GYGOtv Meant their config app that was using the motion test section manually with sliders is very jarring. Their free motion software is something different and is very easy to use once you understand the difference between it and SRS/SimTools.

Yep that is certainly an option! I don't know if you can say that the 1 Year Warranty means it will fail BECAUSE I don't think THEY even know. These units haven't been around long enough to get any data on durability, especially in the hands of consumers. Time will tell I guess, and thanks for the comment.

Ironic these hardware developers are eager to hand it out for review and "influencers" yet have little interest in getting something out to us software developers......been the same with all the hardware for the past 20yrs that we make the games for.
I don't plan to get one anytime soon. I would rather the Kickstart Backers get them before all of the rest of us did. They have been very patient from what I understand.
I don't think they can afford to give one out to everyone making a game. You can use their YawVR emulator to test telemetry output well enough. It is not on the game dev to support the specific chair and make it feel good. The user looses all ability to tune to their liking then.
Thanks for your feedback, yes I did think it was tight too... but that backward tilt sure was nice. Comparing it to the DOF Reality, it seems more "Arcady" to me but I would like to spend more time in it to see how well you could tune the motion. We will see if I ever get the chance. Thanks for commenting.
I think it will be 1.5 years more on the long estimate. Probably closer to a year. I do have full faith that they will deliver. I met Zsolt in 2021 at FSE San Diego, I was standing there as they got the very first demo unit operational and was one of the very first handful of Americans to try the Yaw2. I could see their passion and dedication, they have worked tirelessly for years on this project. I know they will conquer their adversities and turn this into a successful enterprise. It's really a fantastic product. The Yaw2 demo itself absolutely blew me away, though it made it more difficult to wait all this time! I did the roller coaster demo and Xplane 11. My brain was fairly convinced I was flying a real plane, even with the low fps and frame drops that were occurring with the laptop / wireless setup to the Quest 2 headset they were using. And pulling back that throttle and having it lay you almost flat, that right there is absolutely incredible. I hope they do make a 6DOF someday that can do that... but for now I'd settle for actually getting my unit... hopefully they do release the Heave platform as well.
@@stevetb7777 Yes I obviously met Zsolt too and you can feel his dedication for sure. He told me that if the company was going to go out of business... they would have last year. Now they are on better financial footing and with the new YAW 3 being more cost effective to produce they feel they have rounded the corner. I agree with you so much on that backward pitch, it was amazing for sure. My only advice if you are tired of waiting is to get yourself a DOF Reality H2 to hold you over and then you can sell it once you get your YAW. I know I couldn't go without motion now that I've had it and I can't imagine how hard it has been for all the Yaw Backers to still be waiting. I hope the fulfillment comes sooner than you all expect.
Hi Crazyhorse, I never said there was anything wrong with it... I just said I wasn't interested, there is no way my back could tolerate that thing for any length of time (I'm getting old you see) :)

@@davewatson2124 Gday Dave.....gotta agree with you, if it walks like a duck ,looks like a duck and quacks like a duck then its probably a duck.....sorry if there was any confusion, what I meant was that they "say" that kickstarters who have not received their rigs as yet after all this time will eventually get a Yaw 3 (as long as they pay more money).....once they start rolling the Yaw3 out the door, was supposed to be January of this year, no more yaw 2s
I'm "harping" on it because I still get asked on a regular basis what my thoughts are on it by my viewers. Yes I asked about that situation and if you watch the end I mention it but I'm happy to explain it more to you here. Keep in mind, I do NOT work for YAW and I was only able to spend a little time with Zsolt but from talking to him, this is my understanding. Basically the Yaw 2 ended up being an inefficient and costly design that was running into durability problems and almost ran the company out of business trying to fulfill the kickstarter orders. YawVR had to pivot last year not only to stay in business but also redesign the unit to be more cost effective and durable... hence now you have the Yaw 3. I'm fully aware of the kickstarter situation and I can TOTALLY understand how frustrating that must be... but if YawVR went out of business then No Kickstarter would be getting anything. At least this way YawVR has the potential to deliver on what they promised. Is it a "scam"? Well you'll have to define what you mean by scam for me to answer that. My definition of a Scam is an intentional scheme to steal money from victims, so to me no it is not a scam because I can see YawVR is actively trying to do what they say. Are they using questionable business practices... I'll leave that up to people who know more about the situation than I do debate that. Hope that answers your question, I'm sure you aren't the only one that wondered about that so thanks for the question.
I actually have the Yaw1 Pro or as you put it the salad bowl 🥗 🥣 I picked up from someone locally for $600. It is actually pretty cool. I enjoy using it. But, I agree the new version looks more professional.
@GYGOtv I understand that completely. I am 44 going to turn 45 this october. I definitely feel the difference. I actually added some of those seat cushions for both my bottom and back. It makes a big difference. I enjoy playing in Virtual Reality, wearing my Woojer Vest 3, and sitting in this motion simulator using the Hotas. I just recently purchased that Pimax Crystal Light HMD. It has the best visuals I have ever seen.
@@WOojerVest3andQuest3onMe Ahhh you are starting down the path and it won't be long until you are in a DOF Reality H6!!! I can see it now! It is an amazing time for us enthusiasts. VR and Motion in my own home, who would have thunk it 20 years ago! Do you like the Woojer over a B Haptic?
@GYGOtv I haven't tried the bhaptics vest. I just bought the Woojer Vest because it works with everything. Plus, it was on sale. I am a sucker for deals. I actually almost bought one of those DOF rigs. But, I changed my mind. $3k + is way more than I want to invest.
@@WOojerVest3andQuest3onMe Ya Haptic Vest is on my future acquisition list, I'll have to research what the best would be. I totally understand the hesitation on the DOF Reality Rig, mine was over $5k and I had no idea if I'd like it or not... I can honestly tell you it was one of the best things I've ever purchased and I'm so happy I did it. Keep an eye out, maybe a sale will get you into one someday.
Wow that is a lot of weight isn't it? It handles it well?
@@GYGOtv I had to reinforce the flat base where the seat normally goes as it did bend a bit but that was from using that bloody app to test with me in it and I slid my finger on the pitch and it went way too fast up in to the air before my finger slipped and slammed me down again. I then bent it back and drilled lots of wholes to put the alu profile all the way across it and not had an issue since. The new yaw 3 should be even better too as more power than the standard yaw 2

Let us know when you test out the Yaw 3 with the Heave Module (sorry for spelling)
Use a washing machine stand....works perfectly and will lift the footrest off the ground. Recommend one rated for 1700lbs
Yeah. Definitely need it on grippy floor. I have mine bolted into wood then 4 rubber feet under it and mine doesn't budge.
Good solution... you have a Yaw2 or 3?

Ya we will see if I end up with a demo unit. I feel like it and the H3 might each have advantages but my gut feeling is the DOF Reality H6 is still going to give a much superior experience. Of course I'll keep an open mind but that is what my gut is telling me right now. Thanks for the comment!

Are the 3 guys at Yaw VR Ltd. just doing this as a side-gig or is it their full-time puppy?
I have no idea. I just met Zsolt at the FSExpo and know nothing of their company. Sorry I don't have a better answer.
The leads (apart from headset) can be done wirelessly so full rotation and the quest 3 is great over WiFi 6 and virtual desktop to be wireless too.

@@KydDynoMyte_ I think the Somnium is going to do that too isn't it?
Seems to me the obvious solution for 360 rotation would be to just build a usb hub into the base of the system with ports on the platform to plug your peripherals into. Ditto power, just have an outlet on the platform for anything that requires power. Not that 360 rotation should be an issue for anything that would use a steering wheel...
I'm not an expert on the Yaw by any means, but I think they did that with the Yaw2 and it caused lots of problems and was constantly breaking. Thanks for the question @DaManAbove, and welcome to this amazing world of motion!. I haven't tested the YAW enough to recommend it yet... but honestly from what you are telling me I think your best choice would be a DOF Reality H6 (which is what I own). @@GYGOtv I'm so gutted that I couldn't attend. But I'm sure we will have the opportunity to share a few beers together in the future buddy.
@@VRFlightSimGuy I look forward to that day. Happy landings to you until then!
You also need to make sure you counter balance the forward mounted peripherals with weights In the back
Yes I'm getting a sense that balance is VERY important for these to work correctly. How much weight did you need to counter your HOTAS?
@@GYGOtv more than you think I have a yoke and combat pedals then the side plates for the warthog hotas with a custom
Plate for the joystick In the middle with ext bar and I am on the more robust statue of a 50 plus year old so counter weight is as out 30kg
@@samgarlick9585 so that is about 65 pounds for those in the USA. So what happens to the unit if you don't counter weight it?
You will see the movement you state and will need to ramp the power up which could burn out the motor possibly. It also makes the movements smoother along with SMS software. I am keen to see the yaw 3
couldn't they pipe the cables through the middle and have the HOTAS cables etc come out via a hole on the bottom base?
I'm no expert on the Yaw by any means, but I do think they tried something like that with the Yaw2 and it caused issue after issue. I'm sure somebody on TH-cam probably talks more about it if you do a search. Thanks for the comment.
@@GYGOtv shame you can't adapt a HOTAS to wireless very easy. One day!
@@myoldskool I think that is what the YAW3 does, has some sort of wireless module for any USB devices if I understand it correctly.
Regardless of anything else, the Yaw 3 shows the best design of all current motion platforms.
Maybe... I think you are sacrificing the stability so I might argue with you the DOF Reality H6 is the best design overall. Time will tell, thanks for the comment.
@@GYGOtv I hear you, I own a P6 and I’m happy with it. I meant to say aesthetic design. Sorry for the confusion.
Are they actually shipping these out? Their website is suspect.
That's sounds like it would even be a challenge on the DOF reality.
@@antjones2281 Maybe but at least on the DOF the bars holding the wheel deck are to the side so there is a better chance you could get it to work IMO.
Yes you and I are thinking the same. I don't really care about the Yaw as much but that pitch back is incredible!
Ya if you are looking for YAW, you can't beat this thing. Thanks for watching.
@@GYGOtv something like this for war thunder. I don't know if it would last. Could you imagine war thunder top-tier jets arcade mode on this thing.
Great job Mark, coming in your stream to discuss further
If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer. Thanks for watching.
I think they had the cable management sorted with the YAW 2, so it is odd to see they demoed a 3 without that.
I think they only have ac power going through the slip ring now. Streamlined and got rid of a lot of the failure points. Wi-Fi is usually terrible at shows. Recently discovered after the show you can use power line network adapters to connect the Yaw3 to the network instead of using wifi if needed.
@@KydDynoMyte_ So I'm confused... can you or can you not hook your HOTAS to the YAW itself to keep the 360 motion usable?
@@GYGOtv Yes you should. At least you have been able to on the yaw2. I haven't heard of them taking away the Virtual Here solution. One of the Yaw3 testers mentioned 4 USB ports on the one side of the chair opposite side from the AC plug on top. The YawVR is very different than most other rigs. It has a pi in it and uses a network interface for the motion software to talk to it.
@@KydDynoMyte_ Thanks for the info. That certainly would make it more viable for using the 360!
Does it seem like it would support Virpil desk mounts/HOSAS on that table attachment?
Not sure... Probably would mount but wasn't super stable so probably some flex. Also didn't like the center pole on there. If I get one to try someday I'll have a better answer. Thanks for watching.
Hey hey I love my *salad bowl* Yaw1 😂
You must be younger than me LOL, That thing would kill my back after while. Us old guys need more support! Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you enjoy your original YAW!
Great review.. I am keeping my eye on this hoping it will be suitable for space games like Star Citizen in the future.
If you are interested, here is a link of my livestream so you can see the H6 in action... you don't have to watch it all, I'd say check out the asteroid part here th-cam.com/users/liveXxapAZ3wyx0&t=10320s Hope you enjoy it.
It would definitely be interesting if a USB slip ring could be incorporated between the chair and the base to combat the issue of the 360° movement.
I think the YAW 2 had that didn't it? Anyone out there know for sure?
@@GYGOtv the slip ring used to have AC power, Ethernet and USB going through it. The USB was not always reliable. I believe now just AC power is going through the slip ring. A user with a yaw3 was able to use PowerLine Ethernet adapters the other day to get his Yaw3 on the network as a test, but wifi should work fine for most people at home.
@@GYGOtv I am not sure but it's definitely a good idea
@@GYGOtv Yes, the Yaw2 has that. I guess they dropped it for Yaw3 for simplicity, plus I believe the slip ring was expensive and getting a reliable one that would work for a long time and be available in the future for parts was part of it.
@@marcusdamberger So what is the answer now if they nixed the ring?.. this raspberry pi wireless option I keep hearing about?
I wish they had local stores in the USA for purchase.
Ya I doubt that will ever happen. I know DOF Reality has looked into it and Distributors want a lot of money to provide them, so the Motion Platforms would cost like 40% more than they do now. I guess the question is would you rather have it affordable or local for purchase? Thanks for the comment.
You can actually connect your usb devices wirelessly to the built in raspberry pi
So how well does that connection work for your HOTAS? I've heard the wireless seems to drop in and out which can be a problem when you are controlling your aircraft with it.
very good observation and honest feedback.as a owner of yaw 2.5 edition this lacks in stability in framework and i have even drilled holes in the floor just for it not to move around on the floor and the yaw 2.5 has alot more main weight on base station and wider in generall. looking forward to hear more from your honest thoughts if they finaly choose to give you one❤ i have come to a point due to construct materials it wont work with the loads put on the framework so to keep it safe i put clean scenes only.meaning if racing is a go only small weight stuff so the brigde clamp wont break and even cause damage to the main seat construct as it happend for me in 2.0 version i owned.keep it upp and be loyal to quality in generall as you provide on your channel🎉
Thank you so much for your feedback! As I'm a total N00B to all things Yaw right now! Any insight from current Yaw users is invaluable to me and my community. So the weight is an issue then with this style of device?
it is a issue yes.

my second review i share my thoughts and 50hours of gameplay testing about 2.5 edition from a quality generell point of view and what i miss from the 2.5 and my thoughts about sacrifices they have done with yaw3 consider cutting down mainfoundation weight in almost half size wich again goes into maintaining momentum as you pointed out in your video.there aint no transdusors and smartplugs has been removed from this new yaw 3 edition.

But really I have the doubt if for simracing maybe yaw3 is still less mature and no so good as the dof p3, which comes with a real frame to put the wheel, pedals and gearshift …also I don’t want to be doing extra DIY as I don’t have the time neither the tools, so I want something that fits naturally good for simracing.Thank you very much for your help

That's a lot of mass and Inertia the chair is dealing with even is you nail down the CG.
Ya you can feel it for sure. I certainly don't have that same feeling in my DOF Reality H6 that is for sure.
How do you connect it to the quest 3
I have no idea, I only got to try it at the show and don't actually have one. I think it is all driven by a PC so you hook the Quest 3 to the PC but don't know any specifics... sorry I don't have a better answer but thanks for watching.

@@GYGOtv thank so much for your comments. I’ll check with dof reality supoort the prices and taxes to be sure.
Ladt question, this time about dof reality.. for a casual user like me (max 15 h a week) do you think p6 extra cost over h6 worth it in terms of maybe been faster, more precise and durable?
Can this be used for Vtol Vr!?!
I have no idea, I only had 30 min with it and only tried the demos they offered. If I get one to test out I'll have more time to try stuff like that so stay tuned.
Get this thing to work on consoles or quest with no pc please
I'm not sure about the plans for the Yaw but the DOF Reality Rig can already work with a console... dofreality.com/product/options/magicbox-for-ps-xbox/
Can this be connect to the ps5 vr2?
Now that the PSVR2 can hook to a computer I'm sure you could... I doubt it would work off the PS5 however, I think it needs to be driven by a PC. But that is just a guess as I don't actually have one and used it for less than an hour. I'm sure other owners can probably give you better info. Sorry.
Looks good but takes up so much space, not many people will have 9 foot for this thing to rotate.
Ya you can limit the rotation so probably about a 6x5 ft. space would work... of course that takes away one of the key features of the Yaw when you do that so I get what you mean. thanks for the comment.

@@GYGOtv The latest info is they have a backlog of around 800 kickstarter units to fulfill
