Other companies putting to many of the basic controls into touchscreen making it a challenge for the driver to do the simple things whilst driving.

What’s always annoyed me about BMW, Porsche (and Merc?) is that all the options are extra even though they have packages. What’s the point of packages if it only gives you one or 2 things? That’s no longer a package and more of a “sorry you can’t get that option unless you get the x package”. Audi includes a buffet of options you get included when you get the S-line package for example. VW gives you a fully loaded car when you opt for the r-line package. It just seems cheap to nickel and dime someone when their spending over $100k+ buying a car from you. I’ve owned 3 Bimmers, 1 Porsche, wife owns a VW, and now I’ve owned Audi’s for the past 8 years and I’m surprised to say that I haven’t looked back since.
But that's where they make their money. Sure they have packages that might have some stuff but if you really want what you want they'll give it to you but you gotta pay extra.
Aside from direct button manipulation and "clicking" icons, most phone controls ARE gestures. Swipes, pinches, etc. I also use gestures in web browsing on my PC.
