The A95L is still the far superior TV imo. The B9 is the pinnacle of an LCD LED television, but you cannot beat the sheer detail of OLED

Fantastic video per usual man! Im liking the different camera angle at the beginning. As weird as it may seem, its like you invited us to sit down and enjoy. 😁 Can't wait to see the 85 inch vs the 77inch
I'm glad you enjoyed, brother! I like to use different angles to showcase the displays and build up the hype vs. just the bland two tv's sitting there. It's all about finding your signature as a creator.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY this was a great call on your part. Having that couch in the back also added more depth and focus on you. It felt a bit more intimate at the beginning, which was helpful. Did you get a new camera or lens? The video felt really well exposed for the most part this video
Shout out to Sony for pushing LCD technology to its limits in terms of accurate image reproduction. I would probably go for an oled to eventually replace my xh95 considering viewing angles, but it's always good to have options.
I saw these two at Best Buy and I really wished I could’ve played around with the settings. Can’t wait to see the comparison! Specially around the colors
Go back in and ask. We don’t mind. Sony TVs reset themselves back to demo settings when in store mode.

They are both stunning displays! Pick the one that works for your budget and your viewing area. You cannot go wrong with either.
Looking at this on a 12" tablet and a very tight comparison. Thank you!
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching
Thanks for the great video brother
Great content as usual!
Thank you so much, my friend!
They’re so close in most scenes. Trade blows. I love the small specular highlights of the A95L and the shadow detail of the B9. Ultimately I will probably go with the 85” over the 77” for the immersion. Thank you Brian for the excellent video!
I bought the A95L 77" as soon as it came out and love the TV. Based on this comparison I think I would have been just as happy with the Bravia 9 if it were available. The images were so close, if someone would have asked me to recommend a TV I would have to ask them at what angle does their family watch the TV and how bright is the room they watch in. However, I'm glad I saw this comparison because I now don't have any FOMO. What I do have is an impression that today's TV's border on the magical. Thanks for the comparison.
I'm so glad you have the A95L my friend! It's excellent! Enjoy every minute of it! Thank you for watching
Hi Brian I’m really struggling, with my a95l it has a red tint I can’t calibrate out, is this just normal for a a95l. Is there any solution to this or should I just get the b9. I tried a g4 while it produced a nice white, it was a bit blue tinted and the colors would dilute a lot.
Any advice ?
They look pretty much identical most of the time but the Bravia 9 is a little brighter. If the brightness was brought down a little on the Bravia 9 I believe they would look identical all the time. Sony did an amazing job on the Bravia 9!!
Top notch intro Brian!📺 👏
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Which has best picture quality a80L or X95L? I have read a lot and cannot decide. There is no TV store close to me
Both look gorgeous, and if price was no object I'd still pick the A95L. For now, I'm really happy with my A80L, and I have you to thank for that Brian. It was your review of yours that pushed me to buy it. Much appreciated my friend!
Shucks I missed it! Great video as usual!
All good, my friend! I am so grateful to have you here!
Believe it or not…But I’m upgrading from a Sony 46 XBR 6 to the Bravia 9 75 from BestBuy coming on 7/9 my XBR 6 just won’t die but I just couldn’t wait any longer to get a new tv.
Last year, the 85-inch and 75-inch versions of the X95L model had different display panels, with the 85-inch version having a better panel. Therefore, if you bought the 65-inch or 75-inch X95L, you got a lower-quality panel compared to the 85-inch. How are things this year with the Bravia 9 (XR90)? Does the display quality vary depending on the screen size? Are there any differences in sound or other features based on the screen size?
Recently viewed the 85" Bravia 9 at a local Best Buy and right next to it was the Bravia 8 & A95L...In "my opinion " the B9 outshone both of them in every conceiveble aspect though it wasn't by leaps and bounds.. The improved brightness in HDR specular highlights along with oled- like blacks and spectacular color saturation AND great details in the dark shadowy scenes puts the B9 ahead of the rest of the field...We are not gamers, 98% 4k movie lovers 💞 in a controlled dark lower level... 👏🏽💥

I am willing to forgo perfect black letter boxes and crushed blacks in exchange for brighter brights! It’s a personal preference. I chose impactful HDR over perfect OLED contrast! Always have and always will! Shadow details are lost in OLEDS.
Not necessarily true most flagship oleds and the G4 from what I’ve seen actually had amazing shadow detail without crushing

I received my 85 inch bravia 9 on Monday and I have to say that I love the picture quality.
I can't compare it with an a95L (because I have not seen that one), but I upgraded from LG Oled. (Not MLA)
I am really happy with the shadow details and also with the specular highlights. You can see an eye blinding sun in the left corner and see shadow dark detail on the right.
I paid 3900 euro's after cashback and I think this is a great option for a lot of people.
Awesome!! So glad you are loving it and thank you so much for watching
Do you notice any blooming on the 85” compared to OLED?
@@rayenwoomed5323 Yes I do. However, only on max brightness in a dark environment with white letters on a black background. It is more noticeable when you are a bit off angle.
I sit in front of this tv on around 3m so I don't really have off angle views when I am watching something. Only when I walk away. And it doesn't really bother me, because it is so minimal. When I have a bit of light in the room, I cant see it anymore and there are black scènes with a white moon where I see nothing.
I am just blown away by the colours and the total picture quality. Rocket League is also popping on this television.
Both look absolutely stunning. Basically comes down to if you watch in a bright room go with the B9 or in a dark/light controlled room go with the A95L.
As a sports fan though and hockey in particular I think I may go with the 75” B9 for its purer whites. The only thing holding me back is that it will be in a basement. Tough decision!
WHAT?! I missed the premier 😭
BOMO sad! 😢
Wow I can't believe how close the Bravia 9 has come to an oled, even at 65in! Can't wait to see the 85in comparison, do you have any plans to put the Bravia 9 85 and the G4 83 side by side? I am torn between the two, here in the UK the G4 is £1k more and am wondering if its worth it?
Yes the 83G4 vs 85" Bravia 9 will be next week

Thank you Brian your amazing. The Bravia 9 has more realistic color hues I saw/ The water scene on the beach was correct and the 95L water too blue and not aquamarine. They both looked so close on so many scenes I had to pause the video to make sure. The shadowed areas of everything had better detail in the Bravia 9
Excellent anylsis, my friend! I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Folks;
Keep in mind you're watching a TH-cam video comparing two panels side by side.. that was recorded. HUGE difference if you go in person to a BestBuy and look at them side by side. Huge huge huge difference
That goes for every comparison of every technology ever my friend
Which one did you like better then?
Exactly. And I saw the 65” B9 in person, in store, and my coworker bought the 75” B9 and we watched a couple of 4K UHD Blu-ray movies next to his A95L, which I also own. Both his sets were calibrated, and you can actually see a much bigger difference showing the A95L has the overall better advantage in picture quality.
I still want the B9, but I’m waiting for Sony to release the 55”, so I can use it as my gaming monitor…
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY well absolutely it’s just an important reminder for folks who make buying decisions solely based on content like this
@@AnthonySimpson-kl1nt A95L. It’s a notable difference IRL by a long shot

Only in some scenes does the A95L contrast look better. In most scenes I am actually tired of how OLED looks artificial and not realistic.
Why can't people see that what they see in real life looks NOTHING like OLED. Life isn't pure black and extreme contrast. It's just not realistic.
I’d be curious to see how these two stack up when displaying sports in SDR.
I think we have more fun comparing and assessing TVs than we do watching them. 😅📺
lol I watch these videos on my A95L so I guess you could say I’m doing both. In all honesty I’m happy to see the 95L still holds its own with the 2024 models. I think at 65 inches it’s a no brainer. Now the price point at 77 it gets interesting. S95D and G4 at 77 have already dropped. Now the Bravia 9 at 85 I saw at BestBuy. I know it was in Vivid but it looked amazing. I think at 85 size that would have to be an option.
🤣🤣so true!!
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYBrian which video is that which is shown on the TV. Cheers Matt
What I noticed is the B9 had better whites and was brighter in some scenes to a fault. Yellows on the B9 are blown out in comparison to the 95L. The scene with waterfall the B9 had white water with little detail of the rocks. The 95L had much greater detail of the rocks. Toss up of personal preference. Many could drop down to the lesser TVs in that range and not be so highfalutin.
A95L looks far superior in every scene
It was very different in person. These cameras can't capture the full dynamic range of our eye. The Bravia 9 is overexposed in alot of these shots
On camera sure real life it’s a different beast especially at 85inches
@@SpencersStuffTV saw it in person, but B9 is great for being a Mini-LED TV but just cant produce QD-OLED’s color and contrast.
@@ElGrueso I commend you for going out and looking yourself! I'm okay giving up some of that contrast and color for the brightness personally.
@@SpencersStuffTV Ya I have seen it in person to compare with LG G4 and A95L. B9 is a great Tv for sure but it just doesn’t have that 3D color pop with the infinite contrast ratio. Very bright but G4 and A95L are so bright that I rather have superior contrast and color detail over just bright TV in my opinion. Especially for gaming I need that instant pixel response time and no ghosting. Ghosting, smearing and the slow response time just kills it for me. Not Sony’s fault since that LCD’s limit. Beside the viewing angle is another deal breaker for me.
Nice one Brian!
Thank you Jay!
Great I just bought the Bravia nine for my daughters and her family only 65 inch because they sit 5 foot from it. Looking forward to see the comparison great videos.
@@John-DiV she will be very happy my friend
It's very interesting how most of the shots can appear identical, or at least very close, while a few show a very different white balance. For the most part, the A95L looks like it has richer color, but the Bravia 9 handles bright and dark detail better. And of course, they are both excellent, so I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
I don’t see what the argument is both look great
For cinema sessions in a dark room I would stay with the A95L
But for all day view that means all light conditions all content, I pick the B9
Hi brian, how much is the difference un contrast between the 2.
The contrast on the QD-OLED is a great deal better
Why does the Bravia 9 only measure around 2,600 nits? What about the 4,000 nits?
WOW I have an old LG B7 OLED from 2018. It has tons of burn in and I've been shopping for weeks. I have found my new purchase Bravia 9 here I come!
Finally, some one uses GT7 for HDR demonstratoin to show the true potential of miniLED that OLED can never touch
While LED based TVs like the Legendary Z9D and the B9 do not have perfect contrast that OLEDS deliver, the Z9D and B9 with their searing brights against superb back light dimming blacks deliver jaw dropping scenes that OLEDS can’t match!
For us this year, it comes down to who has a great picture with a great smart interface and play well with everything we hook up to it and comes in an 83-85inch size. Everything else is little importance.
What I saw for the Bravia 9 in the video several times was a bright object like a tulip which was bright and focused in the foreground, plus another object like a dimmer unfocused tulip in the background separated with black in between. That dimmer unfocused object either was barely visible or not visible at all in the A95L. That is evidence that the lack of luminance or chrominance at lower light levels in the OLED. I don’t feel these OLEDs can represent these dark video choices including shadow detail as well as the Bravia 9. The real advantage of 4000 nits will happen when 4000 nits mastered content starts to be standard.
As long as there are questions concerning off angle viewing, blooming, and lower contrast ratio and they are evident on a display, OLED will continue to be the better format for me. Brighter in specular highlights, while good, is only a plus in less minimal situations. You have to hunt for those, they aren’t the norm. Eventually LED/LCD may equal OLED in all aspects, but not yet. Close but ……
Brian, appreciate the comparison. Did you notice any blooming for the 9 and if so, where?
My pleasure! The blooming you will see is mostly off angle. If you see it in menus especially in other videos please keep in mind that the local dimming disables when content is no longer playing.
What’s up Brian! See what you got started!!😂
Spectacular displays!
I just would like a review of the Bravia 9 in 75.
Bravia 9 black levels look great!
I just don’t get why people are so obsessed with TV brightness. The A95L and even the Samsung S90C are both already very bright TVs
I’m an OLED convert ever since my A80J. It’ll be amazing to see how the 9s tech trickles down in future
Amazing tv man I have an A80J my myself and have since replace it with the A95L and LG G3
I'm still getting the A95L Thanks for the video comparison though.
A95L is incredible. You'll love it! Thank you so much for watching
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY LOL! I fixed the typo.
I’m an Oled fan for past 10 years - since first 1080p LG Oled till today - would not touch LED. But one thing this comparison made me aware of, thanks to Brian for putting it together, APL makes a depth perception difference. We all say oled has depth thanks to better contrast - but the same applies with higher picture brightness - and I’m not talking about 1500 vs 2900 difference but much higher average picture level. In many scenes you can see B9 universally brighter that translates into better depth, better 3D effect. Yes oled does it better when small dark areas are present, but likewise B9 does better when APL is higher what oled can do and those black areas are not present. Trading blows literally. Now awaiting 77” vs 85” comparison which will be very very interesting.
I’m aware from that distance we can’t really see aforementioned OLEDs depth hence picture looks more similar than it probably is - as well as b9 brightness clipping in few scenes - taking away depth as well. In person viewing is a must.
TLDR: I think B9 higher APL is much more important feature than its high peak brightness
Prefer the Bravia 9. Although the A95Ls contrast exceeeds the Bravia, the visible detail is better on the Bravia and I know I won't have to worry about ABL. That brightness adds to the uuhhhh and ahhhh and overal sharpness of the tv. I would buy the Bravia 9 if they made a 55.
Doesn't the A95L have the double heat sink which more or less eliminates ABL?
It doesn't eliminate it just prolongs the onset of ABL. If you watch sports or news channels alot the Bravia9 may be the way to go just depends on how you use your set @@SagaciousFrank
@@casob307, yes you're probably right. However, I don't personally watch news channels nor much sports, either. But even if I did, who'd care much if it does dim on those? The only problem I'd have is with it dimming during movies, TV shows, and gaming.
All that being said, I'm tempted to get the Bravia 9 as it's cheaper for the same panel size as the A95L and still looks awesome, in some ways superior to the Sony OLED.
Has Dolby Vision being incorrectly displayed on Sony TVs been fixed for these TVs?
They are fine for Dolby Vision. A few shows had issues. However, Sony had a hard time replicating the issue . Overall it works as intended

Thank you Brian! I still like the A95 best. I got to see an A95 next to a G4 and despite being an LG CX owner, I preferred the Sony! The Sony ‘felt’ less in my face with the brightness and came across more natural to me.
I want to love the miniled and am amazed by the lifted shadow details, but still not quite OLED baby. 😅
I’m most curious what Sony could do with a 4th gen QDOLED and possible tweaks to XRCLEAR chip. The miniled may have given Sony ideas on how to push the QDOLED boundaries. Who knows but I’m excited!!
Even on compressed TH-cam, super obvious that the A95L is wildly better. The more you look, the more you wonder how anyone could view the Bravia 9 as better.
The "true" white and shadow details and 85" size of B9 are the compelling selling points for me. It will also cost significantly less than A95L which is out of stock it seems here in Aus anyways. Easy choice for me.
If you pause the vid at the 7:54 you can clearly see how the oled has more 3d depth thanks to its superior contrast
From the 3-4 A95L vs Bravia 9 videos I’ve seen I think I’m ready to jump back to a LED tv. Still waiting for a B9 vs G4 video heavyweight showdown
Make sure you sit right infront of it
@@cogthusiast1150 and watch content with night scenes. Areas that are supposed to be at or near black but also with small areas of bright light like street lamps or stars…the limitations of LED or Mini LED are still glaringly obvious. As for the much discussed aspect of Sony OLEDs and how they come out of and go into black (gamma), just get the dang thing calibrated to improve upon that aspect of performance and then it’s about as perfect as it gets. Calibration can’t fix what LED based TVs simply cannot do.
Has Sony fixed the HDMI Dolby vision issues?
Going A95L if so.

I have seen side by side the B9 A95L and Bravia 8. It comes down to taste. Bravia 9 can't match the contrast of an OLED or QD OLED. Is brighter though. The Bravia 8 is the one that I'm very impressed. I think is the underdog TV of 2024. No one is talking about it or at least as much as the B9 and G4. Very impressed with the Bravia 8 personally. Also the Bravia 9 at 85 inches needs to be 8K. You're loosing some of the resolution. Great video Brian! Enjoy your vacation!

Good video. Had Sony only made the Bravia 9 in mini led at 100 inches. I went with 100” Hisense U8K!
I saw both at Best Buy as well!
They are both great - personally - I like the B9 better because of HDR Impact and SDR with sports etc.
The Bravia 9 has slightly better contrast and saturation. If the saturation can be increased slightly, the difference is negligible, with only contrast being the marginal difference. The detail the A95L appears to provide isn't, at least based on this TH-cam video, true detail at all. It is slightly better contrast and sharpening which give the impression of detail. In short, you are getting roughly 98% of what the A95L offers with the Bravia 9, at a much lower price.
Ok, now. Can we have a Bravia 9 and Z9K comparison please 🙏?

I got the S95D QD-OLED for the 3rd gen panel which is a noticeable, pretty big upgrade from gen 2.

b9 still has some noticeable blooming but the contrast in most scenes looks great. It needs to be cheaper than OLED imo, if it was priced like the X90 series they would sell so many of these
I was really close to pulling the trigger on the 85" B9, but I just went on vaca to Gatlinburg and my lodge has a theatre room with a projector. I wasnt a projector believer as I always viewed myself as a snob of picture quality, but I think I know why projector users say there is no replacement for size. It must be like 200" and given its only a $2500 Epson projector, what u give up in picture quality, you can justify with size. Holy cow! Imagine what a more premium porjector will do for arnd $5K, like the Epson LS12000.
I completely understand my friend! Immersion is king! Epson is also on the rize
OLED is overrated. Look at that brightness, shadow detail and no burn in on the B9.
Definitely not. OLED is still an amazing technology that is largely responsible for the competitive advances in mini and micro LED developments from less expensive brands like TCL and Hisense, both of which still have bugs and shortcomings of their own that come with the lower price tag. Is OLED too expensive? Only if you can't afford it, and that's the truth.
The depth of image and contrast of oled can't be beaten. The ability to individual control each pixel allows elements to actually glow which except for bright daytime viewing is more important than overall brightness imo
I wish someone would compare the 85” Bravia 9 against last years 85” X95L
From my standpoint the A95L looks just about equal as compared to the B9. I suppose you have to see each in person to really notice the minute differences.
The Bravia 9 is amazing this year...it looks nearly as good as the QD Oled, and in some respects, it looks better due to the increased shadow detail. Simply amazing.

@@techsamurai11 yes you can see it. I saw them today. OLED, ALL OLED's have better blacks than the Bravia 9.
If you can't see the difference, you can grab a hisense U6 and save a ton of money.
What else can I say? If you can afford it, get both TVs and put them on wheels. Roll the Bravia 9 into your viewing area during the day or when you have all the lights on. Roll the A95L into your viewing area at night, when you have your lights out and curtains closed, etc.. Also, I have a feeling the Bravia 9 might be more appropriate for certain movies and shows, while the A95L might be appropriate for other ones. I can't afford either one in its largest size. But being that my 85-inch X90CL provides the sustained full-screen brightness of the Bravia 9, peak brightness of the A95L, impressive local dimming, and impressive color performance in HDR10 and Dolby Vision, I can look at Bravia 9 and A95L comparison videos without getting depressed. If Sony replaced the X90L with a similar costing non mini LED with Bravia 7 and Bravia 9 backlight control, I might have considered selling mine to someone in my area for $1,500.
