What i doubt (and you can judge this better by sitting next to the tv) is how detailed the 95D is? Is there an issue with the details and if yes how noticable? Thanks Brian for always going the extra mile. We know that this is not only a job for you, but you are genuinely interested in giving us the best info out there so we can make the best decision possible or just knowing all the new stuff out there. I like brightness only as much as it doesn't take away detail and realism. Sometimes the Samsung is so bright, you miss some detail and it looks like an extra light is shining on the scene. We are all different so I understand those who just love the immaculate bright color. For me, I'd take the Sony for the fact of the processing, upscaling and detail look impressively real as opposed to partially artificially enhanced. Either way, like you said, what matters most is what the buyers priorities are. Sony for me and LG comes in 2nd. Samsung is just too saturated or whatever professional term you use. I'm sure you get the gist of what I'm saying. Thanks again for going above and beyond sir. You are awesome !!!!

Brian, as always- fantastic review!! @16:34 Sony's detail is off the charts; thereafter @16:43 shadow nuances are amazing! Additionally, @16:49 the vividness and accuracy on the A95L are unparalleled. Samsung certainly has a slight edge in the brightness/color saturation areas generally speaking but cannot go wrong with either of these beautiful displays.

Thanks as usual for doing these long comparisons. One thing I would love to see though is some information on motion processing. Most of the Demos running here are likely 4K60 sources, so they will look fine, but how about throwing in a 4K24p test Video. Something challenging like a flock of birds flying across the screen or a bike or other object moving in front of a brick wall? Maybe a few small, fast objects zipping across the screen? For me, the quality of the Motion Interpolation is far more of a deciding factor than brightness which I usually have to turn down anyway in m dark room.

S95D content is so rare for some reason. I am watching this on my S95D :)
I don't think it's fair to call this 'matte'. It is not your typical everyday matte material.
I use this as my PC monitor and reading white text on a black background feels like I am reading a magazine quality paper. I love it. Games, especially Dead Space Remake, blew my mind. I was so absorbed at looking at how gorgeous the game is, that I didn't even notice the jump scares lol.

You may have bought the best gaming TV for 2024. It's hard to say, yet. That said, it is highly unlikely the S90D (or QN900D if OLED is a must) will be better than the S95D.
Something happened in KG's livestream after a firmware update to the S95B that was taking the gaming crown from the S90D (which was already beating the G4 handily).
I'm not the only one to say this. Literally, everyone (outside of just a couple of LG enthusiasts) where blown away at the S95B, and S90D (before the firmware update).
Congratulations on a monster gaming TV

I think Samsung should consider manufacturing two seperate versions of the S95D in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch--one with a glossy screen, and one with a matt screen. This would allow us to choose between a TV for use in bright surroundings (matt) or for use in dark surroundings (glossy) based on our use case.
One important factor for me is the kind of user. I tend to associate Hisense, LG, Philips, Samsung, and TCL with the consumer crowd being that they also manufacture products for grooming, healthcare, HVAC, kitchen, laundry, etc.. I associate Denon, Marantz, Onkyo, Pioneer, Sennheiser, Sony, and Yamaha with enthusiasts and professionals being that their focus is audio, video, home theater, etc.. As a professional musician, I tend to favor sound and picture reproduction which applies as little modification to the signal as possible. Therefore, between these two, I would choose the Sony A95L.

Much respect Brian. I've always liked your style, passion and balanced (we have similar use cases 'gaming', I got the S95B directly because of you guy's + KG / Classy's coverage in 2022). Not hating on you at all my friend, but I have to admit to being a little surprised and disappointed seeing you move from posting a pretty objective video on your experience with the S95D ("did the matte win me over"), only to hear you and FOMO both pretty much verbally destroying it in the Live you both did following his 4-way live (aka 'window-gate' lol). It didn't feel objective at all. Don't get me wrong, it's your voice and I value your opinion either way (I'm not the guy who needs to hear positive reinforcement of my own opinions), but it was the 'throwing it under the bus' tone that I found a little out of character (granted, it was still a little bit funny to see you both cracking the jokes at its expense lol). Anyway, this video showed the Brian I appreciate again... objective, passionate yet balanced. I have much respect for your enthusiasm and admiration for how you acknowledged and addressed that in this video... seeing someone confident enough to walk some of their feedback/opinion back based on further time spent with the panel, regardless of what make / model it is, is the person I would always chose to watch!. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to make sure I recognised and shared this feedback ,because I know you read these (and you clearly care!). Looking forward to the bright room video!

Excellent comment my friend, and I explained in the video my swing on it. FOMO and I saw a detailed presentation at CES ( outside of the other guys and I disliked it very much vs a wrgb) Keep in mind that wasn't a review but my early thoughts. Then I saw it at Samsung Headquarters in a light control room and saw what it's main use case was. It changed my thoughts a bit. Then I actually got my hands on it and them put it against the a95L and wow. The other gusy and what they think isn't my concern. However, the TV was also being completely dismissed by everyone out there, and most have never used it let alone a 77". I still don't love the matte but I understand it. What I do like is the 3rd generation technology of the QD-OLED which is on display here. No one is asking or paying me to change my mind😅 I'm passionate about this so I can alter how I feel with the more experience I get with a TV. Hope this helps my friend. P.S never be sorry for a long post! My vids are 30min long😅 thank you for your excellent and well balanced comment my friend

Those specular highlights on the S95D are DELICIOUS.
Also love how the 95D gets so bright in Dynamic it makes the camera start clipping like mad lol.
Note: I might be a bit biased since I’m watching this on a 77” S95D, but the coin flip was between this and the A95L, and the deal got me this plus a soundbar for less than a great deal on the A95L, and am glad I made it 🤪😜😁.
And yes Google TV still beats the crap outta Tizen. Gonna be like Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul 😜 for OS’s.

Processed my s95d exchange this morning. Returning it, for so many reasons. Bring on the g4
If i were in a light room...maybe. but im not. Low bitrate content is blurry..my CX is way better and way more sharp. It takes about 10 clicks to get to an hdmi input. Earc doesnt work between that and my marantz av10(2023), and the tonemapping is far worse than the s90/95c. It needs to be hacked or calibrated to track eotf properly.
Edit: I laughed out loud when you said 77 is cruiserweight division lol.
Best buy gives me 60 days to return. Knowing me i will spend those 60 days saving $2,000 and go for the 83, because i have JUST enough room for that, and that would be incredible

    • @Cblan1224
      @Cblan1224 หลายเดือนก่อน

@charliegrech2026 I tried really hard to love it. I really did. I could not believe they told me "not all devices are compatible" when I asked why cec won't handshake with my flagship processor from 2023. It cuts in and out every 30 seconds.
Then I start to remember everything else about them, and then I start to remember how much I've appreciated LG as a brand the last few years, as a CX owner who received 4k120hz dolby vision support like 2+ years after the tv came out.
Then you factor in how difficult it is to use the tv(no shortcut to hdmi input. Need to go to home, over to connected devices, over to hdmi input, which only shows up if external device is powered on).
With all this brightness talk..im clipping at 1370 nits in game mode hgig in windows hdr calibration. Not that brightness is really an issue
Then..there's the screen which makes everything look like the original bluray release of the movie "300" that had film grain on 1000%.
Watching for all mankind on apple tv + on the apple tv 4k is so crisp and clean on my cx in dolby vision. On the s95d it looks horrible.
In motion, things look much worse. I don't know what's going on there but 24/30hz content looks bad and it gets blurry. If you want to really amplify how blurry it is, turn on active tone mapping
Cant wait for the g4. I really sat with the s95d for a few days and gave it a fair shake. But if you have experience with LG or Sony..you aren't going to like the brand.
Every year they firmware-nuke the previous models. It's ridiculous
Even the owners forum feels foreign to me. Everyone is hacking the service menu for brightness and talking about bright room and family room viewing. I'm like the only person in there with a dark room/theater setup. It just feels like I'm coming home, to LG. That's what I mean.
It's like that flashy Instagram model you dated that made you appreciate the book-smart down to earth girl you dated before her.

In KG's stream recently (A90L, S95B, S90D and G4) - The S90D was running away with the gaming section until the S95B was updated to the latest update..
The S95B was a complete and absolute gaming monster, with the S90D not very far behind.
After that stream, as a gmaer mostly, I decided i am going either S95 series or QN900D this year.
I have done so much back and forth up to this point. But i have narrowed the Samsung QD-OLED panels as best for gaming in OLED and the QN900D as best in miniLED.

If you pause the video at the scene 31:16 the Sony is missing a lot of detail in three large areas of the image and the brightness is night and day. I think there are examples where both perform better on different scenes and in different viewing modes. I don't think you could go far wrong with either or the G4 to be honest, gamers may prefer the G4. The new super bright BRAVIA 9 mini LED with precise control of all those dimming zones could also be a consideration for some.

In almost all of your examples, it looks like the whites are over saturated on the Samsung. Is that your camera exposure, or does it really look that way? The bottom line for me is that any of these new high-end TVs will look 100x better than my 10 year-old LED TV. And in my case, I am betting the the ant-glare screen on the Samsung will be extremely important in the new house I'm building that will be 50% glass walls in the TV room.
