Sony talks about their image processing, and some people think it's BS marketing, but to be honest, I think they are not just selling BS. I think there is more to picture quality than just contrast. I think Sony's handling of gradients, their upscaling capabilities, how the tvs tone map films, everything just comes together and creates depth in the image.

LG have stepped up their processing game, Samsung have not.

    • @frontlife900

Well, it should be balanced though as Vincent says Sony looks more processed to his eyes compared to LG looking more natural on Sony A90J vs LG G1 comparison video. Also, I think Sony does have rendering issues, like in Panasonic JZ2000 vs Sony A90J video on the cave scene from Game of Thrones, I see that Jon Snow's right ear comes up as brighter on Sony A90J in a dark cave that is only lit up with torches compared to Panasonic JZ2000 which looks more accurate, and on Sony A90J a very top side of wall close to ceiling level is illuminated too much and on Panasonic JZ2000 it is darker. And it's same scenario with statues, they are lit up more on Sony A90J. So I don't think in a dark cave that's lit up with torches can illuminate objects that much especially when they are far, I have also tried to calculate the range between statues and torches and figure out how much they would be illuminated by fire from that range, simulating how fire works in real life and Panasonic JZ2000 felt more accurate to me and Panasonic with JZ2000 wins that processing imo. Or rendering should I say? Ofc it's through a TH-cam video so things might be different, like Sony A90J would have proper brightness on objects and illumination while Panasonic JZ2000 would be way darker than it looks in video. And don't forget that Panasonic takes accuracy really seriously. They make their TVs get calibrated by a calibrator that works in Hollywood so it says something. Also because it's a processed video, and the screen I'm watching the video affects that.

Agreed, not just image processing and upscaling though, when it comes to motion handling, Sony is top notch there too. LG does this decently as well. But Samsung motion handling in both games and movies is some of he worst in the business, it's the reason I returned my QN90D.

You know what it is with Sony. It's the depth in the image. I bought the X900H years ago, and even for a mid range tv, it still had that image dept. I recently bought the X90L, and again, the image depth is still there.

The Bravia 9 is better in every setting. 16:34 the shadow detail to the left of the glass on the Bravia 9 is much better. The black levels and blooming on the Bravia 9 is better too. On some scenes, it’s almost like the Bravia 9 is upscaling the image to 4k while the Qn95d is displaying 1080p. This was evident on the scene with the green leaves. 18:50 this scene also has more blooming on the Qn95d. It could be its movie mode but it’s a noticeable difference compared to cinema on the B9.

    • @frontlife900

No, to my eyes the QN95D looks better, more natural. Shadow detail and upscaling and technical things aside, colors look more natural on the QN95D while they are dimmed down on the Bravia 9 also, sunshine reflected on the clock tower is more definitive on the QN95D, like while it is like non-existent on the Bravia 9, it yells as "it is a sunshine" on the QN95D. I do care about such stuff in TV, picture quality and it is defined by color and details like that more than shadow detail, black crush, upscaling and blooming. Blooming is not a problem in MiniLEDs anymore, it's so unnoticeable. The things bother me too much to the point make TV unwatchable are noise and color banding. Other than that upscaling I do care about and praise Sony's upscaling but colors being natural and details like things are more definitive are more important to me.

@@frontlife900 No, to my eyes the Bravia 9 looks better, more natural. Overall Bravia 9 is just superior to QN90D in every way and in every scene on display. Even Vincent from HDTVTest game Bravia 9 the best Mini LED award and has confirmed it's the best LED TV ever made to this point. Every other professional reviewer has taken the same stance that Bravia 9 is the best non-OLED TV on the market - bar none.

That's what happens when you runs Samsung in filmmaker mode.
FIlmmaker mode REMOVES processing and reduces brightness.
No idea why anyone would compare Filmmaker mode vs another TV to compare image handling becasue the TV is doing almost no image processing.
it's interesting then that you prefer the Bravia, it's fine that you do but you must prefer processed images, which is fine, everyone like different things but filmmaker mode is the exact opposite of a demo of what a TV is capable of. Filmmaker mode should be compared to Sony "Cinema" mode.
All these TVs need significant calibration out of the box.

Samsungs brightness washes out details. The Sony looks better detailed. You should be able to tame that brightness and bring back better details within each preset though, so no worries Samsung. Film maker mode looks great in both tv's. I think the Sony wins this debate though.

Samsung does blow out detail. Samsung's extra brightness on the leaves erased the patterns on them. It made a dark scene look bright. Where two separate flames were close together, the smaller was hidden by the brightened light from the bigger one.
      That is bad performance.

When I look at a Sony tv sometimes I am blown away at how skin tones look on the tvs. I know it sounds crazy, but Sony reproduction of skin colors is beautiful. Sony tvs just have a pleasing image that other tvs struggle to capture. Sony LEDs aren't the inkiest when it comes to black levels, and they are not the brightest of the brightest when it comes to highlights, but they strike this balance in between to produce an image with depth and clarity.

4:27 That is like a budget LCD on the left vs a high end OLED on the right. Yes I know it's not an OLED, what I am saying is the contrast difference is astounding. So much if a person saw this and not knowing. They would think that.
    6:07 I mean wow, what a difference.
9:23 this is why Vivid on a Sony is almost useful if you want to go all out. Look at the contrast and sharpness detail in the leaves. The Samsung is just one over brightened single shade of green with no detail at all. No the brightness is not to a minimum on the B9 in Vivid. It's bright AF. It's just the Samsung just dropped all sense of trying to retain any accuracy and detail and just blooms out everything.

I just used this video for a sound test. I learned if I want surround sound from my Vizio sound bar from the U8N on all video streaming services you cannot turn on Dolby Digital or DD Plus. You can only turn on PCM or Auto for full surround sound.
You sort of get it with DD but it lowers sound volume and won't play the background music from TH-cam videos to the foreground in the surround speakers. It doesn't get the signal to be used. SO DD and DDP turned on ruins the total Dolby Atmos experience by a lot.
I have 2 more sets of 3 Way speakers to set up on my walls. So more sound testing from your reviews is coming soon.
I can't wait to hear how these speakers will sound being next to 2 way surround speakers.
The U8N is a major learning curve going with nearly every menu setting. It's hard.
OK the lightning strike at the end was cool. I heard it from all sides.
I relocated 2 Vizio Surround speakers so I have surround speakers behind me. I have speakers on all 4 walls now. I can't wait to get to a full 10 speaker set up soon from my current 8.

Price difference 1163, is the Bravia 9 that much better? Personally i don't think so. The tv will be delivered next week. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Even on the bigger TV's you do it right. B the Installer videos are slightly annoying. I watch some of them but to me his channel is sort of useless only because is videos are all geared for his niche home theater clients.
When you go to Best Buy the expensive kiosk displays aren't set up to compare brands against each other.
Seeing the A95L, the Bravia 9 in person together you get why all of Sony TV's are the Best of Best even on the A90, 7 & 8 models.

Have Happy and great Thanksgiving Brian. During your next live stream I might get it on it. Also since I have the U8N you can ask me questions on it.
It's a TV with a real learning curve on all the menu settings that my Vizio never had.
Also the dumbest thing Hisense does with their TV's is they don't use 1 simple Serial Number. So the one on the back label is the one that has to be used for the Warranty registration on the about TV menu there is a different serial number. Like how hard it is to use one and only serial number? I forgot to cut it off from the box label.
I learned something about Hisense that you probably didn't know by your review when you kept it on playing with the remote for different content. Question should Energy Labels on new TV's be a topic of conversation? I know every Home appliance manufacturer wants to be a sustainable energy Company but how much is too much on that issue when it comes down to one dumb defualt TV setting? On the Quick Start Instruction booklet it isn't listed on it nor is there a main menu setting.
It's an important topic on Energy Guide Gold Sticker.

See, when the Samsung can look brighter for example in Movie mode vs Cinema on the B9. First IMO, the B9 looks more accurate, more contrast (by far). But that said, if I wanted more "brightness", I would just use standard picture mode instead. The difference is that I would still have more detail and accuracy and contrast vs the Samsung in any of it's modes. That is what makes the Sony winner in every scenario. Cinema mode on Sony is the 'dimmest' mode, except perhaps Professional.
But again what makes the Sony the winner is that it always retains detail, accuracy and contrast. It just dials it up in the other preset modes. The Samsung is only accurate with detail in Filmmaker mode. After that everything is just brightness and detail is lost.
So in conclusion if you just want a little more brightness. Let's say almost as bright as Samsung is in Movie mode. You just turn on Standard on the Sony and still get now a brighter image but retaining the contrast and detail.
Just because they have similar names in preset. Doesn't mean they are the competing presets, because they are so wildly different. Only the Filmmaker and Professional mode can really be compared as apples vs apples.
IMO, the QN95D is only ever good in Filmmaker mode. That is when it has some detail and still some brightness. All other modes are useless. But the Bravia 9 overall wins there too because of accuracy.

24:00 It's not "superior" in gaming. Having 4 HDMI 2.1 doesn't make it better, lol. Anyone can solve that with a switch and get 5 HDMI 2.1 ports.
144Hz also doesn't make it superior. It makes it better in Hz, but not by much. "superior" means better at everything. Not one or two specific things. The B9 is far better in looks.
The B9 is FAR more accurate in game mode and way better in contrast and black level.
So what is 'superior' about the QN95D. That is not even true at all and it's you basing it on those two criteria. That is like having a bad TN computer monitor at 500Hz and saying it's better than a 144Hz QD OLED, ha ha.
Please refrain from making definitive statements like that. It's subjective and highly dependent on what a person values in their gaming. Now TVs that truly are more 'superior' are the OLEDs, as in the high end ones. I would agree an S95D would be superior.
But the QN95D is garbage compared to the B9 again. 144Hz vs 120Hz is negligible. Accuracy, depth, contrast etc matters.

    • @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY
      @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's superior because of a larger feature set . This isn't debatable. It's has 1440p support . Ultra wide. 4K 144Hz. Triple the gaming presets. It also has motion plus, which will add frames without ficker and input lag . It can also look exactly like the Sony. Also calling a TV like the QN95D garbage shows your comments to be biased by default.

Taking two TVs out of the box and then leaving them in presets without any adjustments is not a genuine comparison at all. You are not showing what either TV is capable of. Furthermore, this doesn't even represent most users anymore- most people will do a basic calibration if they are spending money on flagship TVs. The Samsung looks like utter crap out of the box when in reality it is capable of so much more. These are such lazy comparisons.....

    • @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY

@armylrs2391 whatever you say. I'd like to see you put in the work. Making them look exactly the same by adjusting them is actually dishonest unless you're in the room. This is why half the video is in Filmaker and professional as that is their most accurate presets.
