@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Exactly there is one for sure that somebody is going like..there is no right or wrong..get the TV that gets you feeling good about getting...there all at the top of the game.
For me, I think the G4 can look as bright as the XR90 sometimes, while in dark scenes, the XR90 might preserve black but dim brightness, or look slightly washed in challenging ones. If you’re coming from a mini led tho, the XR90 is a great upgrade
Im watching this from Rhodes on holiday brian. My mrs said why are you watching tv videos? I said coz I love em! Both tvs look great buddy. Deffo gonna look into oled when I upgrade one day. Have a good day brian.
@@ChrisCurran-p9r Hell nah. Stay With the x95l. B9 isnt 2k better. Last year i bought the x95k With 5 year warranty and calibration for only 1900 i will stay With this model too. Maybe in 2 years Sony has better tvs
I bought and compared both the 85" Bravia 9 and 83" LG G4 and kept the LG since I have a light controlled room. If it was a bright room there's no doubt I would have kept the Bravia 9. They're both equally as good but for different environments.
I would go with the Bravia 9! Have a few OLED's and have not bought an LCD in 10 years, love LCD. I think the extra brightness will really pop and make it look 3d ish. Thanks Brian. After watching the video for about 15 minutes the G4 looks better. I know u need to see in person, and I have seen the Bravia 9 in person at bestbuy and couldn't tell it apart from the Bravia 7, they both looked the same. Bestbuy is a horrible place to experience a TV's picture quality, all the TVs are set in Viivid mode and are displaying content that no one actually watches.
Oled performs just as good in a bright room as it does in a dark room. No tv performs well with direct reflections. This argument is ridiculous and nonsense
@@jogo8261 Have a Z9J and a C2. My main living space has an entire wall of sliding glass doors that gets a ton of sun. My Z9J is very watchable on Vivid mode for sunny Sunday afternoon football games. My OLED is in a light controlled room with shades. You pull the shades up and it isn't watchable. In my experience this isn't a ridiculous argument.
I really wish we could watch the same content between the models in the store when comparing them. Its amazing watching each of them taking wins in different scenes.
They don't do that because you'd realize some of the cheaper models are actually pretty decent. Next time you go notice that they only show helpful content to judge quality on EXPENSIVE TVs... anything cheap or midrange they often don't even play a demo reel. For low-end or mid-range they'll play a crappy quality TH-cam music videos from 2004 or a static image sometimes even. Upper mid-range TVs they *might* show a demo reel, but not always. High end TVs they show a demo reel or good content to judge quality. Last time I went to Best Buy they had a Sony A95L playing a high quality demo reel, a Sony Bravia 7 playing a low-quality demo reel, and a Sony x90l playing a static image of relatively poor quality. It's designed to make you feel you're getting a SIGNIFICANTLY worse TV if you don't pick the most expensive models. When the truth is, there's alot of great TVs in the midrange and some decent ones in the low-range. Obviously high-end is the best! But Best Buy would rather have you thinking high-end is the ONLY option. I REALLY REALLLLLLLY hate shopping at Best Buy. They just made it so difficult 😩 I purchased a Costco membership JUST to buy a TV from them so I wouldn't have to deal with Best Buy's antics. It's really disappointing because if Best Buy was anything like Microcenter or the golden era when Fry's was a thing... I'd be there like every two days 🤣 I love spending way to much money at the tech store.
I'm gon get either the Bravia 7 or the G4 I really don't understand why Sony gave us a Mate Finish with the 7 😠. Couldn't they just used a Semi Gloss just like the X93L and call it a day... 🤦♂️
Yes the Bravia 9 is brighter for sure. But LGs colors seems more vivd and bright as well. Then it seems like the black levels is unbeatable on the OLED TV. Its hard to go back to LED for me because of this. I still have the CX and will wait for major discount on the G4 as a casual enthusiast gamer and movie watcher.
It's important to know how to tweak the B9. Setting black level from 50 to 49 can make a big difference. The contrast increases a lot and doesn't shadow crush. Yet things get deeper. Especially in HDR like DV. It doesn't show a difference in some content. But when it does that 1 little step makes the contrast and depth a lot bigger.
I've already lowered my brightness beyond 49 and I'm still very disappointed with the black level performance. I see a lot of blooming and brightness fluctuations in letterbox bars. I understand Sony does this in order to preserve shadow detail but on a TV of this price with this many local dimming zones it should not be happening. My Samsung Q8FN from 2018 has only 40 local dimming zones and letterbox bars stay inky black, they don't fluctuate at all. Has less blooming in general which is just insane. I'm on the verge of returning my Bravia 9.
@@wavebend1474 I exclusively stream and it's not settings issue related. I'm not new when it comes to TV tech or AV stuff. Anyway I ended up returning it, it's a turd for the price. The image was extremely unimpressive all around.
I'm still impressed at how Sony was able to give mini-led a rebirth so that it can sit next to flagship oled and not look completely out of place. Of course there are still some predictable advantages for each technology but it's really cool to see the gap close a bit from both sides. OLED gaining brightness, and LCD gaining control.
I upgraded from 77A95l to 83 G4 about a month ago. I love the size and picture of the G4 way more. I find the HDR way more impactful, and the processing top notch.
This reminds me old Brian's video with Sony X950H vs LG CX. 4 years have past since there but we still have the same minor differences between sony's top led tv and lg oled. BTW still have X950H as bedroom tv and it still has gorgeous picture even after my new LG G4.
7:20 This is a reason why I like the B9. Look at how vibrant it is, more nuance, more color. The gras is standing out. The vibrant light in the dark cloud showing so much detail. The G4 looks more monochrome and flat in the color and vibrancy. The blue on the left is stronger on the G4. But it loses in the other areas. Like the lit up grass, cloud and detail of the cloud. But I also know there are scenes where the G4 looks more impactful. So it's trading blows.
You're the only reviewer who is publicly aware of the Z9k which is my current favorite TV. Love seeing this long form video comparison, really shows the differences between mini / organic LED.
This amazing review convinced me to get the G4. However, after I received two faulty panels, I went with B9. A95L was out of my price range, and B8 wasn’t worth it (still a great tv). I am somewhat heart broken as the LG G4 has such a great picture quality, just couldn’t deal with the lack of quality control from LG.
@@makaiokalahama I had that dilemma and actually purchased the Bravia 9. But my G4 replacement has been working flawlessly and I cancelled the order. Five year panel warranty with 4 year Best Buy extended warranty, I am in peace. If you are looking for a brighter tv and don’t mind not having the true blacks, and that OLED crispness, Bravia 9 all the way. I did so much research and came to the conclusion I am better off with G4. I even considered going up to 77” but it’s too big for the wall. I never thought I would say, wish I had couple of inches less 😂. For that reason, I gave Bravia 9 more consideration and in the end decided to keep 65” G4. Brian was awesome answering my hypothetical questions on different videos. So here is my reasoning: LG G4 vs S95D Yes QD OLED is more vibrant, but it is really noticeable when tvs are side by side, other than that, the colours on G4 are amazing. I got it professionally calibrated. Processor is better on G4. And my bias (I admit) , I don’t trust Samsung. Lastly, mat finish is not my cup of tea for an OLED. G4 vs Bravia 9 I cover that in my first part of this rant. G4 gets plenty bright to the point you almost think it’s a mini led. You still get that contrast of OLED TVs with G4. G4 vs A95L I am not a gamer, occasionally I would play fifa, so A95 L would be a perfect TV for me, but it’s really negligible difference in picture quality that just doesn’t justify the price difference. You can literally get 77” g4 for the price of 65” A95L. For me, G4 is a sweet spot of all the high end models. Good luck to you, I know I spent hours deciding and watching all this content on TH-cam.
@@partizanbgd0113 my 2020 Hisense H9G died on me, so I have to get a new TV now. That was a budget gaming TV under $1000, a QLED. I've never owned a OLED so I wouldn't even know what I've been missing. I thought the H9G was great. So I'm not hard to please lol. I'm concerned with OLED burn-in, panel failure, etc. I don't want to have to be "careful" every time I wanna use my TV, ya know. Like it would be a chore, another thing to keep track of, usage, changing the media type, etc just to prevent issues. And I definitely don't want to have to wait weeks for repairs n no TV in the meantime. I'm used to a QLED and the B9 ofc would be a massive step up. But OLED also has me curious, like I'll miss out on how good they look. It's like choosing between a Toyota and an Audi. You know the Toyota will last forever even if it isn't the most visually appealing. The Audi is clean AF but has garbage reliability lol. I'm gonna go to BB again after work tomorrow and decide I guess.
I consistently like the warmth of light on the bravia 9. Would the A95L look more similar, something that could be adjusted on the g4, or just a miniLED thing?
Thanks for this Brian. Bravia 9 is great and easily the best Mini-LED out there. But compared side by side, this show it's the G4 all day everyday. I'm surprised how the G4 looks noticeably brighter in some scenes but I'm more surprised at how more rich the colors look on the G4. Blues and greens and browns were richer and brighter. All the talk about how WOLED can't produce rich bright colors are simply unfounded. Sure QD-OLED is king there, but WOLED is still a beast with the content that's available today!
Nah, I don't think you know what you are looking at. The LG here has less color depth and nuance by far. You're just being impressed by more primary color gamma with less detail. You fell for the old Samsung trick
Amazing video comparison. Thank you. I intend to get Sony Bravia 9 in the main hall (for family viewing) while I get LG G4 in my man cave/room. The way LG G4 and Bravia 9 inteprets and displays the videos is so different, but in my untrained eye, it looks like videos displayed in G4 are more vivid. Most of the time, the images in G4 looks more "pop" and saturated in color, while the whites in Bravia 9 looks too bright at times (obsuring the details) (5:31 & 8:22). However, in certain dark scenes, the Bravia 9 captures more details than G4 (29:38 - 29:40). The G4 whites seem to look bluish-white though (12:59 & 18:21). Is it normal? Which TV is more accurately representing the colors? It's like taking a picture with 2 smartphone brands but the picture outcome is completely different between the two. I really can't decide which is better, but G4 colors (to me) do look more vivid, which is ideal for me (since I'm getting it for personal viewing. I also worry the Bravia9 will have washed out colors for off-angle viewing since the 9 will be for family so some poor sap (probably me) will be forced to sit at the edge of the couch furthest away from the TV thus least optimal viewing angle. I also intend to get the Bravia Theatre Quad so that will go well with the 9 for whole family movie entertainment. which mode are these 2 TV demo'ed in for this shootout? Is it Standard? For Bravia 9 and G4, which mode looks the best (in your opinion)? I intend to play around with the modes in the beginning but mostly would 'set it and forget it' once I find the mode that looks the best to me.
@conradchung3103 excellent comment! Excellent plan on purchasing them as well. They trade shots for many different reasons, and sometimes, it's just the camera trying to capture both accurately. You can't go wrong with either one and you certainly can't go wrong with both 😁
Basically G4 looks more dimensional and there is a good separation between the objects. Clear separation between foreground and background. Also micro level contrast, which enhances the edges more Suttle than mini LED. May be the processor doing all the job or it's a nature of OLED. Whatever, G4 is pic any day. Thank you brother for the detailed side by side comparison😊
Ive ordered the A95l 77inch it comes tomorrow hope its a step up from my A8f 65inch. It was a hard choice but there all top tvs so surely you cant go wrong with any of them
Man it’s so refreshing to come across a channel with an honest review showing tvs side by side. Another great video. Music and your calm voice is 👌 for these reviews.
Hi Brian can you name which video your watching from the HDR superchnallen aswell I like to compare it after your videos to watch the same video on my TV went with the G3 last year thank you
This is the coverage the consumers want. I love the shootout but it really focuses on something the everyday consumer isn't. It's creators like you who give us the opportunity to enjoy the engineering these great brands throw into EVERY aspect of their tv. The professional presets are a form of art in themselves, but the whole TV should be considered its own art form I LOVE the Bravia 9's shadow detail. I was at my local best buy and they had the 75 inch b9 next to the 77inch a95l and the shadow detail and depth felt so much more 3d than the a95l. Cheers Brian!
I don't watch my Bravia 9 in professional. If I do I tweak the settings. Professional just holds back the TV IMO. It's too dim at times. I tweak the settings for what I like instead. I really like the TV a big upgrade from what I came from. It suits my needs and no TV is flawless. But I love that I don't see blooming in content, it gets plenty bright and HDR content is awesome. Gaming has been great so far as well. Smooth VRR. Horizon Forbidden West looks amazing. Sure I would love an OLED as well. But they have issues that would actually impact me. Like ASBL (PC user) and Burn in, which would happen for me. I wish those things would go away. I hope for an In-organic "O"LED in the future. Because OLED are awesome. But this Bravia 9 is awesome too. Because Sony processing, and how even though it's not an OLED. It can hold it's own. It's excellent even in dark room. Contrast and shadow detail is great. I prefer shadow detail over black crush etc.
Totally agree it is throttled in Professional. I've found Cinema is clearly the best mode for both SDR and HDR content. Beware this TV though, it thrives on premium content....
How aggressive is the ABL on the G4? I currently have a C9, after almost 5yrs of owning it I'm starting to get annoyed by having to constantly worry if a show or movie is supposed to be as dim as it gets or if it's the ABL. Most times it's the ABL and I gotta bring up the home menu to get it back to regular brightness. So, seriously considering the B9 but I'm afraid I'll miss the OLED, I switch back and forth from ISF Expert Bright & Dark room picture settings. Thanks for the video!
The ABL is nearly none existent on the G4. It was definitely an issue on older oleds even the C8, C9 and CX. I think you'd definitely miss the micro contrast. Thank you for watching
2:51 Where is the color on the yellow flower on the G4? That is rather shocking to be honest. Same thing with the shot right after with the field of yellow flowers. 5:43 black crush on the G4 at the bottom right of the image. Contrast is not everything if it's not used properly. WOLED issue right there. A QDOLED wouldn't have that issue. That said I think each win in some areas over the other. But in the end, I think either is a very fine TV and you can't go wrong with them. It comes down to preference, quirks and what areas that matters most to the user. These are top end TVs. Acting like either is "bad", like some do is just silly.
Nope, the QD OLED panels are coming out of black worse than LG. Maybe it is the compression of the video. HDR needs to be watched in a dark environment and there you see a lot more in the dark on the LG than on the QD OLED panels. The LCD is just lifting the blacks, which isn't accurate at all. You just don't see what is going on in those dark areas if you don't watch in a dark room, this is why a lot of people like the LED image, because the lifted dark areas are better seen. If you don't watch in an (almost) dark room, just get an LED and stop talking about image quality because all the constast is gone in bright rooms anyway...
@@BeatelementhePiH No, the XR90 isn't lifting the blacks at all. It's showing the detail that's supposed to be seen. XR90 is very capable of displaying its max luminance directly next to a completely darkened area without lifting the blacks or blooming.
@@BeatelementhePiH The B9 does not lift blacks unless you make it do so. It is showing the proper scene the way it was intended. Oled defense mechanism as all Oled's crush blacks.
No man, I don't know what you did with it but G4 looks better to me. Contrast, colour saturation and immersion looks better on G4. I mean brightness is not all there is to it I guess. But that's just me. Thank you for the video.
I got a G4 because of the deal I got, with that said, at times Bravia 9 looked more realistic vs the G4, but then there were shots where G4 looked better. Someone already mentioned here the image at around 3 min mark with dark cloudy skies, Sony looked way better; they were truly changing blows. I like G4s angle viewing better since at that price level I don’t believe I should loose any colour accuracy, but to call Sony or even Samsung a dud, or a bad tv it’s just ridicules. In comparison to other OLEDs, G4 offered 5 year warranty on the panel, that’s reassuring my purchase is better protected and gives me a piece of mind. Very bright for a OLED tv. If money was no object and I was shopping for the mini oled and plan to watch it from the front, no sides, I would pick Sony. In my case angle viewing was important, plus the better warranty, gaming, and deeper blacks, G4 is my choice. Sony 95L OLED was just too expensive.
Nice video Brian, Being retired I will never be able to get the top end tv's but I have 75" qn90c(lv rm) and 77" a80l (bedroom) and I think they are both really good tv's for what I need.
I have a Samsung 85" QN90C NEO QLED I bought in February this year 2024 and I set on Optimized Picture Mode with Intelligent Mode on and tweaked the Expert Settings, and it is a Fantastic picture
Hey Brian, could you do a review with the Bravia 9. Playing the movie Final Fantasy: the spirits within.? ... It's an old movie, from 2001. But just curious on how the Bravia 9 displays it
Hey Brian, I wish you could tell us about the bugs that Bravia 9 and G4 currently have. The bug that Bravia 9 currently has is said to bother many owners. (Brightness bug). What do you say about that? Thanks
Thank you so much for shooting this very useful video. I recently bought a 77 inch LG G4. And even though I am amazed by it, I couldn’t help wondering if should have bought the Bravia 9 instead. This video reaffirms my choice to me. LG G4 is the right choice for me. The brightness, contrast, the details. It’s just amazing
I think Bravia9 has 3.5X color Density of G4 . Once its 1 pale color against another 1 pale color as dominating the screen. Then game over. Like imagine we watch olympics those swimming . The ppl doing --figure swimming team. All the ppl’s legs 🦵 🦵 so pale n splash 💦 in pale blue water. Oh ya ya. I was waching chinse team winning gold. Thinking holy smoke 💨 my tv from 2021 U8G since has 1.8X-2X color Density as G4. For this--Particular 3 min sport. My TV will LOOK 👀 BETTER in 2024! Lol cuz the G3 G4 can be Tinty. Pale on another pale
Brian, I have a chance to buy the G4 77" for 3250 dollars, thats like 22% off where I live,is that a good deal or should I wait for BF offers in november? I currently have a 65" CX OLED
Hello Brian, Looking at A95L, Bravia 9, LG G4, s95D. I watched the vids you did during the shootout. Seems people tend to discount minLEDS because of the shootout results. For me though, I think the Bravia 9 might be the best TV for my use case although my wife wants the a95l because it won. She thinks that miniLEDS are bad next to OLEDS since they didn't score well in the shootout. I'd like to get your opinion on my use case to see if I am missing something or misunderstanding something about mini LEDS 1) Main viewing would be movies/shows. gaming and live sports is secondary I'd say about 70-75% : 25-30% ratio. My gaming is done on an Xbox series X. 2) The room is a very bright room (sunroom), with the sunset coming through the windows aimed at the TV. 3) Size- I'd be looking for a TV in the 80+" range. My wife said "go big or go home". That pretty much leaves The Bravia 9 or LG G4 in these sizes. 4) Viewing angles- I don't feel is a concern as it is only my wife and I. Being that it is a large TV on the wall that is about 9ft away from our couch, the love seat on the side still lies within 30 degrees viewing angle for any guest sitting there. 5) Cost- I'm from Canada and the 83" LG G4 at Best Buy is $8000 while the 85" Bravia 9 is $6500. That is $1500 plus tax difference totalling $1695. So it would cost me almost $1700 less for a slightly larger flagship TV. These are my reasons for leaning to a mini LED Bravia 9. Do they make sense? Or did I get something wrong in my reasons? regards!
After some tweaking my 85 x90L is amazing and it's about 3k less? 😅 I'm pretty amazed how good the contrast and motion is for a regular full array led.👍👍 Until upscaling and compression gets better for streaming I have no real reason to purchase the top TV's. I know they're great tech but a lot of it isn't even used quite yet. Sony processing has made most content on my tv as almost as good as it will get for now. 5:55
@@sekai751 the key for me was contrast and brightness settings on high but Gamma all the way down. Don't turn up sharpness or reality creation too much at all or you'll get that block checkerboard movement (at least with streaming with the US wifi). I kept those around 65 anyway and it's been way better with that while maintaining clarity thanks to the XR clear processing. The noise or gradation I always keep low or off as it doesn't help the old content streaming much due to many reasons and it definitely ruins clarity and picture on new content. Color to your liking but expert 1 with live color on medium or high has been best for me. All my motion settings are smoothness 2 clearness 1 or 2 and cinemotion high. The Gamma at lowest and contrast at highest is key though then set everything else to your brightness you enjoy. There's a blackness setting too I mostly have just on low which is good enough with the contrast up. I'm honestly blown away by the little blooming I see ever while maintaining great contrast. It pops like a high end TV and it's not. You'll hopefully love it 🤙
It is really bluish because its images have a colder tone and Samsung has a more pink tone, the only TVs that have a balanced tone are Sony and Panasonic
i'm planning on getting my first oled tv. split between the 65 s90d (s95 might have dropouts) and the 65 g4. sony just costs too much. it would be mostly for dvd/blueray, over the air sports, and maybe some games as i plan on getting a 240hz oled monitor for gaming instead. when i checked them out in the store, they looked the same but demos only show so much. lg supposedly has better image processing for low bit/quality content but would it be worth the $1k more?
On our 77inch C2 the "Standard" and "ISF Bright" have always look best for us depending on what we're watching as its our bedroom tv. While with our 77inch a80j SONY OLED we use either standard or vivid to get a satisfactory picture.
After high end local dimming sets came, I have had no issue with general picture quality of LCD. However that DSE is issue with every large LCD I have ever seen. Currently have Samsung QN90A.
These are both great....yes one looks better than the other on various scenes, but it goes back and forth quite a bit. It all comes down to your use case senario on where you will be using this ultimately, but IMO, you will win no matter which you pick. They are both awesome.
Watched this on my 85 inch Bravia 9 . I’m ok with it I also have an 65 G3 in bedroom… im confident in this Sony. Glad I had the flexibility with Best Buy membership and making my final purchase . Thx whisper for your content . Purchased the Astro a50x headset also and it works as a hdmi switcher , along with the ability to give me my 4k 120, For my Xbox and ps5 gaming needs . Thanks again
The G4 is great as long as you don't leave it at max brightness all the time. Otherwise, burn-in and/or screen dimming will eventually take over. The Bravia 9 makes sense as it can hold brightness forever without issue.
@@thefib400 burn in isn't as big a problem as it used to be. Check out rtings for their burn in testing. Unless you leave a static picture on for a very very long time you usually have nothing to worry about. LG warranties their panels for 5 years as well.
If the panels were burning in all the time due to brightness lg would lower its max brightness. It’s more about the content watched but even so it’s not as common as it once was. Hence lg warrantying the panel for 5 years.
@Brian 85 Bravia 9 vs TCL QM8 24. I don't doubt that the Bravia 9 is better, but is it worth so much extra money? I watch in my own custom picture modes. So, I really don't care about accuracy. You've spent a lot of time with these sets, so I wanted to ask you. I prefer my settings to be more vibrant, and I am only a casual gamer. Should I opt for TCL or Sony? 80% movie watching, and I enjoy a bit of the soap opea effect. Roughly 20% gaming but rarely competitive online gaming.
The Bravia 9 looks more natural & filmic. Like how our eyes would naturally see things. The G4 looks like a painting or like AI created. Fake and not natural.
Be careful judging looks based on "natural." If you're watching this video on an accurate display, you can. I personally bought a x90l on the same notion, only to see that it is more muted than I expected. Shadow detail is another thing you need to be careful with, as it could easily just be lifted, and the camera could make it look better than in person.
Be interesting to say how something like the x90l compares to a bravia 7 see if there's mucth difference between technology's are the blacks any better are the whites any better is there less blooming and is the overall picture quality a step up from full array
At least in the latter part of the video, the color temperature of the two looks different, with the Sony warmer / LG cooler. I more often preferred the Bravia 9, with the LG being a bit too blue in some scenes. Could it be the way the camera captured things more than an actual difference in person?
A great video! Thank you, Brian! Both very good, but the G4 takes the cake. Can’t beat the infinite/micro contrast, and 144hz PC gaming is such a bliss with the best-in-class gaming mode. G4 is also much more accurate out of the box, so you don’t need to pay for calibration. G4 at 83” is the best of the large sizes this year. At 77” I’d go A95L, and at 98” I’d go Sony miniled, once such a monster is released!
I think color accuracy is king, but my debate is just brightness because I like to keep the window shades open. At night of course I think the OLED would be incredible, but if I can't watch a sports game with all of the windows open then that's ridiculous, and I don't know if QD-OLED is bright enough, if I need an in-between like MLA/WOLED, or if I should just get a mini-LED. Super hard to find people filming during the day
@@welschvidyou can’t judge it from videos. Cameras especially Brian’s will pick up Woled as having a more blue hue where as in person it’s not blue. I can say first hand that the g4 can do pure white and with MLA it excels at white brightness.
If there is one thing I have learned from you my brother while watching your videos is to keep an open mind. And watching this that's what I did. That being said. I would take the G4. Why? Because I love the natural picture of the G4 and the black level's. Everyone these days are Nit crazy and want the brightest tv. Not me. I could care less about how bright the tv gets. I want what closely resembles what I see in the real world and that's what the G4 would give me. Now the Bravia 9 is an excellent Mini-LED tv and anyone who gets one will love it. But for me it's OLED or nothing. I can't go back to LED. But if I did the Bravia 9 would be at the top of my list. Great, great video my brother. Much love to you and the family.
images as seen in real life only Sony TVs have them, all other brands are artificial, look the green of the G4 is an artificial green, as is the bluish white, when I look at my Sony TV it seems like I'm seeing it in a window it's so real, now when I see an LG or Samsung I know I'm seeing a TV because of the artificial tone they have.
I think trying to convince people that the A95L is only for "accuracy" is disingenuous, considering you can make it look however you prefer. The advantages of the Sony are across the board, and you can game on it just fine.
I'm not convincing them of anything. I'm simply staying the others pull away out of the most accurate presets. I've reviewed and compared the a95L many, many times, and I know it strengths and where it struggles. Yes you can Game just fine just like the Bravia 9 but many people want more than just fine. Thank you for watching
Have a 65 inch G4 and absolutely love it. Would probably have gone for the Bravia 9 if they sold the 65 in Ireland but no. It's a reverse on last year when the x95l was only sold in 83 inch model in the US. Also have the x95l 65 and that's a monster also. Would love you to do a comparison of the x95l and the Bravia 9 Brian. Pretty pleaae
Great work! But I think your videos would really benefit from chapter segments and maybe quite a bit shorter. I love HDTV TEST, Andrew/Kristi Robinson and B The Installer because 10-14m really should be enough coverage. We aren't going to get the same experience "watching" the TVs over TH-cam with you so I'd just rather hear your finely researched report itself. I'm not sitting in the same room with you unfortunately so these 30+ videos I'll largely need to skip... ...not being overly critical just trying to support you in the time I can and that's 10ish minutes and then I'll watch every one of your vids bud!
@PorshaHomeTheater thank you so much for your honest feedback, my friend . However, I won't be changing my format or style. While I respect those other channels and creators, they are also heavily scripted and produced. I'm simply showing you as much of these TVs as possible. Thank you again for your honest feedback and for watching here and there.
It's very interesting how they're two tales of opposite ends of the spectrum. The OLED giving us that amazing contrast down low but it's highlights getting blown out vs the B9's highlights and color highlights getting accurately rendered but it's contrast in high black level scenes taking a hit. Basically have to ask yourself what matters more to you and that's the tv you go with. Both can be calibrated to be 100% accurate. Wonder how big of a difference we'd see with a madVR Core running on both tvs?? It's frame by frame tone-mapping coupled with its color calibration, the OLED would sacrifice a little brightness but regain all of its highlight detail basically making it near-perfect. But what would the B9 have to sacrifice and how would it rank against the G4? A little brightness for sure since every display loses some due to the calibration but with the B9 able to get so bright, that wouldn't matter. I'd be fascinated to see what a madVR would do to a B9. Setting local dimming to it's highest setting, I would bet real money that the differences in contrast between the two tvs would be reduced because of the tone-mapping but it wouldn't automatically "fix" what little blooming (if any) the B9 retains. I still haven't seen a calibrated OLED go up against a calibrated B9. The colors reproduced in professional mode for each tv have different white balances in every video I've seen which makes the OLED always seem very red or very blue. I would still go with a projector and ALR screen because of my seating distance in my HT but if I had to "downgrade" to a smaller room, I'd choose one of these tvs for sure.
First of all thank you Brian for this awesome work. I wonder if it would be possible to film each tv seperate with the same camera settings and then put together the capture in edit as I am not sure with the blue WOLED tint what actual comparisons can be be made accurately. Probably not much as far colours go. But from this feed I am surprised anyone would call the G4 superior I mean come on guys I know there is bias, and I myself own 3 OLEDs (B7,CX,S95C) but this Sony in this video is the clearly better picture. The oled has better fine detail but to the point I would argue is not lifelike whilst the Sony has so much better shadow detail. There are scenes where you dont see 30% of the actual scene on the oled, whilst see some fine detail to the point that is not lifelike at all. Moreover even though the specular highlights are brighter on the oleds I think it's bit unrealistic trick to fool the eye and overwhelm the viewer with a super contrastic image that for sure can be addictive. I have started to wonder tough lately as the LCDs have started to be good enough form a contrast and screen uniformity point that OLEDs have kind of a gimmicky unnetural more real then actual real life picture that is meant to wow and impress but is not very lifelike. I also feel oleds achieve their ultra hight contrast at the expense of colour and shadow detail. A white dot on a black paper is going to have more contrast then one that has actual greys and everything in the middle after all. Even though my QD Oled can get super bright and I am sure the LG even more I feel like the super brightness is a forced gimmick to and extent whilst the Sony Bravia has and providea and effortles well lit likelike punchy image whilst being more then decent in contrast too. Motion handling is also another issue I feel oleds are much more susceptible as the they have a instant response which results in an unnetural image which we try to eradicate with compromise semi soap opera solutions and find middle ground. I definitely cheer and wish that Sony can build on this technology as I see a huge potential and would be amazing to have this picture quality in 98 and above inches which is a much closer financially feasable possibility. Come on Sony let's see a 98 inch ,X90L successor with this tech 🙏
Yeah like the issue with laser tv……large but 2D. Because once get bright. It --looks Flat . Due to LOW COLOR VOLUME The exact same reason OLED were focus on 40” 50” 55” longest time. Beccause it can GET away from low color. Now pass 65” once get to 75”to be honest Mini LED n S95C are d BEST. G4 just too thin color. If I watch olympics swimming its just gonna look thin color flat.
I had the TCL QM851G I returned next day. Yes, watching 4K Oled samples on TH-cam looked amazing on this Tv because of the brightness 🔆 I was impressed but the problem was when watching actual movies my Sony X90L & Samsung S90D looked better than the QM851G and another thing that I hated so much about the TCLQM851G was that it can't deliver the Smooth animation that I love (Soap Opera Effect) I had to Max out the Judder to barely see the effect of smoothness but there was a lot a lot of artifacts by doing so.
I often see very strong comments on the TH-cam reviews in regard to TVs. I always laugh, so many moving parts between the source TV and whatever device TH-cam is being viewed on.
I had the X95L for a year. It was an awesome TV but still lacking the typical OLED contrast. Switched to a G4 and I will never look back. Oled simply cannot be beaten if it comes to overall picture quality
LG has such blue I don't like. It pushes some blacks I like.. But I dont have a movie room. Will take the Sony, thank you for such an good comp. video. Im gonna be really happy with my new tv!
I own the lg G4 it's the best tv in my opinion. I watch in cinema mode most of the time in a dark room. also a pc and ps5 gamer. The shootout has not changed my opinion at all.
@@jillbraser9302 Yes. And Brian has always favored the G4 as well unless he’s changed his mind very recently. The B9 sounds better and that’s bout it. A better comparison to the G4 would be the A95L. The B9 is the best “mini led”. Check Rtings channel and compare the G4 vs. Bravia 9. Maybe that will help with your decision.
First off, thanks for the video mate, one I've been waiting for. First off on B9, Professional mode is absolute trash and brightness out of the box set at 4 is almost comical, with the brightness and even colour punch, being severely throttled regardless of how much tweaking you do to settings. It definitely did my head in that was the mode it was assessed in, because it is grossly overrated. Cinema I found is absolutely perfect for both SDR and HDR. It is a bit of a wild horse and you still need to adjust brightness alot, you can't really set and forget. Also Vivid on this set is the best I've seen, although it just needs a little dialing down. I'm so with you on being over people trashing one or the other or even other brands. 90% of those comment wouldn't own and probably haven't seen them either. This year in particular has been so toxic.... Honestly both are amazing. Contrast wins G4 and slight edge on colour punch, but shadow detail on B9, brightness and has slightly more natural tones. Once Dialled in, the colour accuracy on the B9 is actually wild. Have the 85 B9, would be perfectly happy with either. My only issue with the B9 is overblown whites. I haven't yet figured out how to tame it at times. Also it is sooooooooo reliant on content to look amazing, 1080p is absolute minimum you can run through it. The distortion on low level content, such as non HD television shows, it is completely unwatchable. Not sure if this is due to the size, but its very unfortunate. On my old LG CX, essentially everything was clear, crisp and looked HD at all times...
Many thanks for another awesome video comparing 2 amazing TVs. To me, the G4 looks better in over 70% of all the scenes. Seems more detailed and clearer. I'm getting a 65" G4 next year when the price drops to around $2,200.00. My C3 still looks great but a G4 will smoke it.
Hi Brian, I always follow your channel and the Fomo channel, but I have no comment because your work is wonderful, and for this reason I admire you with one letter. Sony is a masterpiece in 2023. Sony worked on an OLED and QLED screen together, and the result was the Sony A 95L, the best TV last year and even this year. In this year, Sony moved to LCD MINI LED screens, and now we see its result in the list of the best TVs. I also admire the work of LG G4, but in some pictures I see that it has a white color that is not completely effective, as if it is a light blue color, unlike Sony.
@hassancharif9384 excellent comment, and thank you for your support of both Fomo and I. SONY prides itself each year on choosing the technologies that serve their version and are not stuck to one technology. The blue you see on the G4 is simply the way it's captured by the camera and doesn't appear that way in person. Or when it's filmed alone. Excellent comment, and thank you again for your support and for saying hello.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY I thank you for this wonderful work but I have a request if you have more time in the future for your community make a picture setting for Sony Bravia 9 75 inch with HDR AND DOLBY VISION AND GAMING AREA and thank you again

I have the 85” B9 and couldn’t be happier. It’s a KILLER picture.
Hi mate I have x95l 85 inch got it 6months ago for 3000 on sale. Do u think bravia 9 is much better??
When u factor in it's 2000 more expensive
@michael-4k4000 the Bravai 9 looks even better alone, Michael! Excellent comment! Thank you so much for watching!
It always comes down to use case. Bright room Bravia 9. Light controlled room get your favorite OLED that fits your budget. Very simple.
@@jogo8261 For sure OLEDS perform well but dont you feel and notice they are much dimmer in overall picture when in a bright environment?
@@jogo8261 well, it's a lot easier to fight the reflections with 800 nit full window than 200 nits 🙂
Owner of the S95c, but still the G4 impresses me much
I really wish we could watch the same content between the models in the store when comparing them.

@@jamesestrada82 awesome James! Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoy them.
I'm gon get either the Bravia 7 or the G4 I really don't understand why Sony gave us a Mate Finish with the 7 😠. Couldn't they just used a Semi Gloss just like the X93L and call it a day... 🤦♂️
Rtings shows Bravia 7 as having a semi gloss like X93L.
@@donnnnnnnn-ox9jb are you using an external player for the bravia 9? what's your setup that leads to the letterbox bars?
@@wavebend1474 I exclusively stream and it's not settings issue related. I'm not new when it comes to TV tech or AV stuff. Anyway I ended up returning it, it's a turd for the price. The image was extremely unimpressive all around.
@@donnnnnnnn-ox9jb thats one of the downsides of it not being an oled. i hope you found something better!
@@wavebend1474 I did. I've owned many OLED and I will never go back to that- they are too dim for any kind of daytime viewing.
Thanks a lot BRIAN for the real shootout whole year and keeping us guided and informed.
@shawnnkalon2965 Thank you so very much, Shawn. I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity as well as your friendship
Yes and the B9 would have won nearly every comparison slide if he changed just a few simple things.
I ordered a G4 to be delivered Friday. But I'm considering going back to Best Buy to switch to a B9. What would you recommend??
So here is my reasoning:
LG G4 vs S95D
Yes QD OLED is more vibrant, but it is really noticeable when tvs are side by side, other than that, the colours on G4 are amazing. I got it professionally calibrated. Processor is better on G4. And my bias (I admit) , I don’t trust Samsung. Lastly, mat finish is not my cup of tea for an OLED.
G4 vs Bravia 9
I cover that in my first part of this rant.
Great video and comparison. I'm upgrading from the legendary Panasonic VT60 to the 85" B9. Should be arriving next month. Can't wait!
Do you still like your Panasonic VT60? Also, how does your VT60 compare to your Bravia 9 color-wise?
Thanks for this Brian. Bravia 9 is great and easily the best Mini-LED out there. But compared side by side, this show it's the G4 all day everyday. I'm surprised how the G4 looks noticeably brighter in some scenes but I'm more surprised at how more rich the colors look on the G4. Blues and greens and browns were richer and brighter. All the talk about how WOLED can't produce rich bright colors are simply unfounded. Sure QD-OLED is king there, but WOLED is still a beast with the content that's available today!
I had a B9 to test. Color saturation is too low out of the box. Set it to a min of 60 and it looks more rich than the G4.
Nah, I don't think you know what you are looking at. The LG here has less color depth and nuance by far. You're just being impressed by more primary color gamma with less detail. You fell for the old Samsung trick
@@whodat9198lol didnt Mini-LED with more color depth? Lol not close even against the lower tier OLED.
But the TV can't keep that brightness 🔆 for long periods.
It all depends on the settings. The B9 has richer colors if setup correctly

Hi Brian can you name which video your watching from the HDR superchnallen aswell I like to compare it after your videos to watch the same video on my TV went with the G3 last year thank you
This is the coverage the consumers want. I love the shootout but it really focuses on something the everyday consumer isn't. It's creators like you who give us the opportunity to enjoy the engineering these great brands throw into EVERY aspect of their tv. The professional presets are a form of art in themselves, but the whole TV should be considered its own art form
I LOVE the Bravia 9's shadow detail.
❤i prefer Bravia9. 😊
Same, LG just looks too blue for my taste.
yes
Own a Samsung 6 series 2016 what TV would you recommend? Looking at 65" thanks
Nice video Brian, Being retired I will never be able to get the top end tv's but I have 75" qn90c(lv rm) and 77" a80l (bedroom) and I think they are both really good tv's for what I need.
@mrrjimm55 That's an amazing group of TVs! I hope retirement is treating you well my friend.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thanks, appreciate that.
My absolute pleasure! I'm so glad that you found the video helpful.
Brian, I have a chance to buy the G4 77" for 3250 dollars, thats like 22% off where I live,is that a good deal or should I wait for BF offers in november? I currently have a 65" CX OLED
Hello Brian,
Looking at A95L, Bravia 9, LG G4, s95D. I'd like to get your opinion on my use case to see if I am missing something or misunderstanding something about mini LEDS
1) Main viewing would be movies/shows. gaming and live sports is secondary I'd say about 70-75% : 25-30% ratio.
so no ghosting or blur in games and sports on x90l?
@@PcGamingForFun not at all, but I have VRR turned on with my PS5. Not sure if other consoles support that
could you tell me your settings for X90L, thank you.
You'll hopefully love it 🤙
Brian, does the LG have a blue tint because of your camera? Or is that truly what it looked like in person?
It is really bluish because its images have a colder tone and Samsung has a more pink tone, the only TVs that have a balanced tone are Sony and Panasonic
Amazing Comparison 😮 thank you Brian for all your work much appreciated.
i'm planning on getting my first oled tv. split between the 65 s90d (s95 might have dropouts) and the 65 g4. sony just costs too much. it would be mostly for dvd/blueray, over the air sports, and maybe some games as i plan on getting a 240hz oled monitor for gaming instead. when i checked them out in the store, they looked the same but demos only show so much. lg supposedly has better image processing for low bit/quality content but would it be worth the $1k more?
On our 77inch C2 the "Standard" and "ISF Bright" have always look best for us depending on what we're watching as its our bedroom tv. While with our 77inch a80j SONY OLED we use either standard or vivid to get a satisfactory picture.
27:10 is the green really that different between TV or is it just the camera ?
Brian do you agree with the decision on the G4 coming in 3rd place 🥉 with the best king tv shootout ?
who are the first two?
After high end local dimming sets came, I have had no issue with general picture quality of LCD. However that DSE is issue with every large LCD I have ever seen. Currently have Samsung QN90A.
Hey Brain, you should also compare the upscaling too. I want to see how far LG's upscaling tech has improved.
I have limited-time offers for the LG 77" G3- $2115 and the LG 77" G4-$3499. Which would you buy? Thank you.
Awesome work brother! From 18:11 minute to 18:52 you can see shots of Warsaw, the capital of Poland. :))
Stay safe my friend. :)
G4 colors pack more punch in some scnes but it's crazy how much better and more alive the B9 looks in certain scenes like around the 14:16 mark
These are both great....yes one looks better than the other on various scenes, but it goes back and forth quite a bit. It all comes down to your use case senario on where you will be using this ultimately, but IMO, you will win no matter which you pick. They are both awesome.
Perfectly said! Thank you for watching!
ah... always pros and cons... you can never have it all! i've bought the G4 but i was impressed by the Bravia at certain points.
I also so appreciate your effort in pulling this all together. Be safe, brother.
Thank you so much ! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.

Purchased the Astro a50x headset also and it works as a hdmi switcher , along with the ability to give me my 4k 120, For my Xbox and ps5 gaming needs . Thanks again
@blackscorp awesome!! So glad you are loving your new TV!
G4 is spectacular though. Amazing piece of engineering.
The G4 is great as long as you don't leave it at max brightness all the time. Otherwise, burn-in and/or screen dimming will eventually take over. The Bravia 9 makes sense as it can hold brightness forever without issue.
New to the oled, what brightness the g4 be at to avoid this?
@@thefib400 burn in isn't as big a problem as it used to be. Check out rtings for their burn in testing. Unless you leave a static picture on for a very very long time you usually have nothing to worry about. LG warranties their panels for 5 years as well.
@@thefib400i wouldn’t worry about burn in on an LG. They have the best longevity on oled panels and offer a 5 year panel warranty on the G4.
ABL is still a big problem for me...I dont like my TV showing me its bright then slowly take it away from me to avoid burn-in and wear out early.
If the panels were burning in all the time due to brightness lg would lower its max brightness. It’s more about the content watched but even so it’s not as common as it once was. Hence lg warrantying the panel for 5 years.
I “think” the G4 “looks” better to me. It must be amazing to see them in person in comparison.
Great as always Brian. I hope we also see a gaming comparison between these two kings
The Bravia 9 looks more natural & filmic. Like how our eyes would naturally see things. The G4 looks like a painting or like AI created. Fake and not natural.
This has generally been my impression when viewing the high end of LCD/LED vs OLED. Not with all content, but it’s never the reverse.
At 0:18, there is a noticeable difference in terms of the colors. I'm curious what picture modes where both TVs on?
Are you able to do any comparisons between sonys fully array led to a sony bravia 7 would really interesting to say how they compare side by side
I will very soon my friend
Super hard to find people filming during the day
The first thing that jumps out at me is the color difference. The Sony is much warmer, and more pleasing to my eye. Too much blue in the LG G4.
Thats exactly the reason why I cannot buy the G4. This TV cannot show pure white, but more or less grey or slightly blue
@@welschvidyou can’t judge it from videos. Cameras especially Brian’s will pick up Woled as having a more blue hue where as in person it’s not blue. I can say first hand that the g4 can do pure white and with MLA it excels at white brightness.
@@zackbutler950 its true. I have too 4g , white really white
@@welschvid definition of only watching TVs through TH-cam
Its a camera issue
What was motion like between both when watching sports
I want my 3D, man. I have a C6 that I just can’t take seeing the burn-in sometimes. I want the 77’ G4.
If the G4 won, it wouldn’t be “any of the TV’s could have won” .
Thanks Brian for all you do!
My pleasure Robert! I'm glad you enjoyed!

@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Which one would you choose?
Love my 65g3. LCD don't give the same warm and full of density picture. Even if i still appreciate my 5 years old Sony 65xf90.
Let me also add that the G4 in only a moderately lit room is a mirror when off. The Sony screens diffuse reflections much better.
C4 is less money . And still looks great to me
First of all thank you Brian for this awesome work.

Due to LOW COLOR VOLUME
The exact same reason OLED were focus on 40” 50” 55” longest time.
One thing LG also did was improve facial tones compared to the G3, which previously were pale.

Yes.
