I like where you are going with this project! I agree with you to make the tub angle out is to cut your cowl and add a triangle wedge to widen your tub. I feel that your choice of square tube is a little small for the base frame I was thinking of 2inch X 3inch C channel because I have access to some. I am looking to do a similar project once I get my workshop in order. Keep Up the Good Work and can't wait till episode 2.

Looks like your axle is bent.
I don't end up actually using that axle in the end, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
