When I was done riding it the grass would be shorter.

A friend of mine used to build and sell 3/4 scale choppers with up to a 250cc engine. They were a blast to ride around on. You could usually get away with driving them around Tampa with the police looking twice. Not that Tampa is a safe place to ride any motorcycle these days Those jeeps look fun and, hopefully, more affordable than an actual jeep

Waylon, add a little extra weight to the rear and let 'em ride some wheelies with a hydrostat. On my old MTD I loved nothing more than rocking back on the top of the seat and riding a wheelie across the yard when the neighbor kids would try wheelies on their bicycles.
We have one on our farm for our kids. They love it and have learned great vehicle handling skills. I recommend frequently check hardware these regularly and using lock tight as they have issues with hardware coming off. Also they come way over inflated so getting the tire psi down to single digits helps the ride tremendously. Ours was so loud when we got it, then I noticed the chain tensioner was rubbing the chain on the frame by creating too much tension. It has two springs, so I removed one siring and problem solved. So I would definitely check that out. It’s been great other than that stuff. My 3 kids rip around and I have used it to drive my 4 year old on trails while her older brothers were riding their dirt bikes. My wife and I fit on it fine too for cruising into town.

Considering the toys I had when I was growing up in the 80's and early 90's, this was a no-brainer for my son. I'm teaching him how to drive and responsibilities of vehicle ownership at 10yo. It's a far cry from the dirt bikes, quads, front end loaders, and dune buggy I messed with back in the day but he's still young. And it's great father-son time!
We had cool stuff when I was a kid in the fifties. We had a Model A with body off and a wooden bench seat and small pickup-style box and buick wheel rims. We tore around the farm and particularly enjoyed pulling up to a meadow muffin with rear tire and spinning the tire through it.
Sir, I believe you grew up in one of the best eras. That sounds like a blast!!! Sure wish I had a pic of that Model A. Better yet, the ability to take it for a ride! Appreciate you watching.
Back in the day you would take a cutting touch to an old 40 or 50s car and turn it into what we called a duddle bug. They were great on those old logging roads of northern MN hunting grouse. Those we're the days my friend, thought they would never end...
We had an old gas tractor. My dad took the seat out of back of an International Scout and welded it on the tractor facing backwards behind the tractor drivers seat. That was our "ATV" back then. For us kids it was our pipe trailer tractor, bail trailer tractor, go check the sprinkler lines tractor, get around the farm tractor. We had a couple spots where the path crossed a small stream. Used to take visitor kids out then stop in the middle and dump the clutch to buck them into the creek. Every once in awhile my dad would catch me or my brother out somewhere making the tractor do wheelies. They weren't anything to write home about but it would pull the front end off the ground.
I had a small pedal version in 1951. Going downhill was a steep learning curve.. the pedals would speed up mashing your feet. I was quite independent in my little Jeep, often cruising around the block. I was by far the coolest 3-4 yo in town! 😆
when my brother & I were 7 & 9 yrs. old our parents bought us a honda 50 and a dune cat w/a 5hp briggs & stratton. we drove that dune cat until the wheels fell off. sold the 50 and upgraded to a yz80 a few yrs later. that jeep looks amazing!
Honda 50 is worth serious money now, I had 1 when I was young and rode the crap out of it , I bought my son a yz80 and that bike was amazing especially for a 2 stroke , my she could sing at full throttle
@@freespeech4023 - our YZ80 was used & from I think 75 or 76. I hopped on one about 25yrs later and couldn't believe how much they had changed! mono shock, twice as tall and way more power!
@@donoimdono2702 we had the old yz and then a newer 1 , the newer 1 was so crispy , but the old 1 had amazing power , same as the old cr 250 , I also had a newer cr250 and that was amazing , , don't forget the old lt50 quad and the wee pw50 , we still have the 2 of them , the little pw50 is an amazing wee bike
when i was young my toy was a lawntractor with no mower deck. used to ride it all the time. when i hit 12 my dad decided i was ready, and did a pully swap. became waaay more fun. why are the mini jeeps so popular? its a fricken mini jeep! thanks for sharing the vid.
We did that too!! Our favorite was to use the front half of a BIG WHEEL and a piece of plywood with lawnmower tires. My Dad built me and my brother a really cool coaster. All the neighbor kid were major Jealous.
I’ve seen these on sale for $1,700 but they are normally around $2,500 for anyone curious. It’s pretty much a really cool “toy” and go to point a and b. Not too much utility in it. I could see me son having fun in it when he turns like 10+. Rather get this over those plastic battery ones for $200-$600. But if you’re just doing light gardening work about your house, this is a good option over spending $11k on a Kubota or similar. Big differences there, but also $9k between them.
Thats awesome! Thanks for sharing. My daughter starts driving this year and her experience with all these machines makes me feel better about it. Still a little freaked out! But, she is used to driving all over the farm.
I just found your channel. I couldn't pay attention to the mini jeep because I was looking at that beautiful piece of property. It reminds me of central Kentucky or Tennessee with those hills in the background. I miss living on our farm so bad I can hardly stand it.
Thank you for the compliment! The farm is a stunning place. Have marreid friends here, celebrated milestones and we have let others do photoshoots for holidays. It really is one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Love sharing it with others (yourself included!). We're in Middle Tennesse....good guess. Thanks for watching!
I had so many issues with mine from not wanting to start, to having absolutely no power in 3rd gear, but while it was running it was fun, I returned it.
I bought a Coolster mini jeep when my granddaughter outgrew the Power Wheels. These are the perfect next step in size, and I can ride with her while she gets used to the controls.
When I was 10 my uncle had a 48 willis cj2a and my cousin and I cleaned the points and fired it up and somehow managed to not kill ourselves rambling through the woods
I had one about 20 years ago, and my friends called it a go-cart for grown-ups. Definitely road like a brick. I had so much travel in steering that every part of driving on the road was a challenge. I sold it to a friend who still has it!
Wiĺlys jeeps have a rollbar, at least my dad's had the bar. Good thing because it flipped over on the trail while deer hunting. Prevents broken necks, etc.
There is video of some English guy in Utah who drove his on a 1000-mile trip mostly cross country or on back roads. He was driving to Moab I believe. Camping in national forests etc. He had several breakdowns and I believe it took him over a year. Check it out. He also did some international travel on a 90cc motorcycle. Fun to watch.
Man that looks like a lot of fun. I have two granddaughters would love them lol. Don’t think their dad would be on board but what are Papaws for lol. Great review, Joe. Thanks for sharing. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year!!
I bet they would love it!!! When the kids first saw it they bickered over who got to drive it first. I won! 🤣. Merry Christmas and. Blessed New Year to you as well my friend.
Great video we need more men that understand the things you talked about regarding the kids and awesome way to teach them how engines function. Cool toy too looks awesome.
Reminds me of the old Doodlebug tractors that were homemade out of old model T's. The last one I had was made out of a 1928 Ford Model AA truck. Cut the frame down to size, a wooden seat, and a little wooden truck bed in the back to haul hay or whatever. These were made during the depression and especially during WW2 when a farmer couldn't buy a tractor. However, my Doodlebug wasn't really a tractor but more like a 1928 UTV side by side.
That's the second Doodlebug reference I have heard! I would love to see a picture of one of those. Those that lived during that generation were the best generation. It's amazing to things the WW2 generation had to live with. Thank you for sharing and watching!
@@JoeTheFarmer -- There's lots of Doodlebug tractor videos on TH-cam. They range in different sizes and configurations based upon the builders needs. I've ran across many original old ones over the years and no two are alike. Usually they are well built by the farmer. They really knew their stuff!! I've seen them with tractor tires, truck tires, dual transmissions, winches, truck beds, hydraulics, etc. Lots of fun!!
@@JoeTheFarmer -- I forgot to mention that during the depression Sears came out with a kit to convert a Model T into a Doodlebug tractor. They're a rare find today, I think because a farmer or rancher simply built their own out of the old Model T sitting out in the field behind the barn, LOL. Also, there are Doodlebug clubs in the Midwest, at least there used to be. I've thought about building another one sometime in the near future.
when i was 12 took an old lawnmower and made a sort of go cart with grandad..was a craftsman lawn tractor that we stripped off the hood and widened it then put a 12 hp motor onbit and finally added a seat wasnt as fast but it could pull well. actually pulled several VW bugs out of snowbanks with it...had tire chains and a snow plow too for it made some winter cash plowing drives and sidewalks ...used it 3 years winter a n d summer then picked up a old farmall a and used that.. wasnt as much gun in summer but dar better in the winter...

You are 100% right. Thank you for that. I try to live each day as a gift. Never had the means to play with machines like this as a kid; but with God’s grace I can do it now! Appreciate you watching!!!
So I thought I'd go find a pic for you because I'm pretty sure Zippy's dad didn't make the thing and I found this much more like yours thing from 1960. It's a youtube video titled "Restoration Mini Jeep Willys with engine 150cc" which I didn't know existed. I guess mini jeeps have been a thing since real war jeeps were.@@JoeTheFarmer
The bully's jeep was apparently a Roof Palamino lawn mower jeep without the cutting attachment. TH-cam has a video of a bunch of them titled "Super AMAZING Mini Jeep Show!" Also, see comment below this where I found a 1960 mini jeep being restored that had 3 speeds and reverse too : ).@@JoeTheFarmer
Yeah, Start a new regulatory agency, hire hundreds of more government employees. They do everything so well, LOL .I'm with you; surprised they allowed citizens to make their own decisions on whether this is good for themselves.
@@JoeTheFarmerI'm loving that little log cabin building right behind you in most of the video. That's the size and design I want on my hunting property. I may use your video to show my general contractor just so he can have a rough idea of what Im wanting. Thanks for making a great and fun video
@SnakeBitBob1982 i appreciate you watching! If you need pics or dimensions reach out to me and I am happy to provide them. That cabin is fully restored and from the 1700’s. Standing history! Thanks for watching brother.
Looks like a lot of fun Joe, I bet the kids are loving it. The most important question; Can it haul a deer out of the woods? 😆🦌🦃 Not sure if it has any kind of trailer hitch, even like the small ones on riding mowers.
I saw these things on Pinterest a few years ago. They were offering them for $39. I couldn't pass that up. I sent them my money. I told some guys at work and ordered one for a co-worker. Never heard ANYTHING from the company. I couldn't find the website after that and lost my money. Cool Jeep! Now they're selling for $2500. I still want the ones I paid for.
I’ve worked at tractor supply for a couple years now When we got these bad boys in they went like hot cakes The store members loved getting a chance to move these guys to and from their display spot and storage
I want to say thanks for a great honest review, to many stupid a-ss reviews of people just commenting that it’s made in China and not actually reviewing the product. I think I will get my kids one. Looks like a blast and $4,000 less than the Polaris 250 that’s also made in China.
Thanks for your kind words. I love all machines; and reviewing this one was a blast. I think you will enjoy it. Won't last forever, but with maintenance I have no reason to think it won't last many years. BTW, I am typing this on my Apple Laptop that was also made in China. Appreciate you brother. Thanks for Watching!
They are fun, but they are junk. The spare and jerry can weight started breaking the back of ours off, among other issues. 6 months in the gear indicator quit, the first week the steering separated at speed. If you buy one you have to tear them all apart and locktite everything. For me it isn't a big deal as I can fix it all, but for the folks that aren't I can see it being a nightmare.
@@JoeTheFarmer We still do use it, but not a ton. My kids don't have much interest in it sadly. Ours was Icebear branded. We got it in 2018. I bought it from a local motorsports dealer because they claimed to go through them and do all the prep to make them better. When I hauled it back to show the dealer after it rolled when the steering separated 5 days after Christmas when my kids got it they said "It's Chinese, good luck" and "we said stuff loosens" I fully understand equipment, and rattles etc, but the steering should not have completely separated after maybe 1.5 hours of riding. I have a Streaker go-kart that was my original one in the 90's, and it has 1000+ hours on it and never had the stuff loosen up like this one. Everyone tells me to blame the dealer, or I should have assembled it myself. My experience has been that none of the bolts at all were properly tightened, or locktited to the point it was dangerous. I eventually tore it down and checked everything.
@jeepfreak81 I hear ya man. I think the hard thing about machines now is that they all need a thorough inspection and setup when they get home. I am yet to find a machine with grease zerks that gets greased when it leaves the dealer. I’ve dug through it and it appears really well built/assembled. Massimo has an assembly facility in TX and they have it dialed in man. Do a great job with prep. But still, always keep an eye on bolts loosening. Appreciate you sharing your experience brother!!!
Ohmygosh, if I got one of these, I could finally learn how to work on an automobile engine without feeling intimidated by its size. I can definitely see why these are so popular.
I was actually just thinking what he said in the video. What a great way to get the basics for learning to shift manually. Better than learning on a $25+K vehicle and breaking the transmission.
@ I’ll have to take your word on that. I have been wanting to learn how to drive stick. But even used vehicles are expensive and almost no one in my family drives a stick. I do have paddle-shifters on my car. I know it’s not the same but it’s the closest I have to practice on.
Don’t be afraid to learn on any car. They can take it. The gears may grind a bit…but sounds worse than it is. Like they say, “grind it til’ ya find it!”
@ I appreciate that. Yeah soon as I get some money together I’d like to get myself a little project car/truck and fix’er up. It’s definitely gonna have a stick “modern anti-theft device”.
i work at a powerspots delership and ended up working on one of these, and ill admit…. other than the suspension and the thin seat. things pretty cool, and fast/roomy even for my full grown size.
figured i would add as a warning, what i had to do to it was a frame swap. the frames on these things are pretty weak. frame had broke once and got welded back. then it broke in another location, so they brought it to us and i had to swap it out with a new frame. wasnt the cheapest repair.
I want one! Great points about shared time and teaching. I love it but I'd never use a seat belt with something that doesn't have a roll bar. I'll take my chances being thrown......Don't ask me why because the story is too painful to repeat. Although it was probably fun to watch!
@@JoeTheFarmer I had an 85 that I drove it right off the showroom floor. I got home and my wife took one look at it, her face fell and she said, “why did you buy that thing”? 3 days later she took it shopping and came back home smiling. “That is so much fun to drive”.
Bought one in October of last year. I’ve been through 2 engines. A carburetor a rear axle. And I can’t tell you how much else. I’ve contacted mossimo many times. Yes they have sent me parts. Iv done the repairs myself. Problem is the the machine is a lemon. If and when you buy this pile. Please know, if there are any repairs to be done to it it must be done at an authorized repair shop. Mine being over 60 miles away. You are are on your own. I would look into coolster see what they have to offer. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE cruising my Jeep for the 50 hrs it worked. That was logged. It’s been sitting idle and Massimo said don’t contact us again. Good luck

You nailed it brother. You are making memories that will last a lifetime!!! Great job Dad!!!
That sounds amazing.
Man I am so jealous!!! Would have loved to have had those machines (and a brother really). May be why I am addicted to horse power now! Lol
Epic post. And you are 100% right. Thanks for sharing!
"It looks like a remote control toy"... you.. just gave me an epic idea.

Gladly! Now to find a sponsor to send me a mini Jeep 😅@@JoeTheFarmer

That's a far cry from the downhill racers we built as kids out of scrap lumber and old lawn mower wheels! Very cool machine!
No kidding! Like I said before; wish we had all these toys when I was a kid! Lol.
We did that too!! Our favorite was to use the front half of a BIG WHEEL and a piece of plywood with lawnmower tires. My Dad built me and my brother a really cool coaster. All the neighbor kid were major Jealous.
Did you have a Dead Man's Hill?
Didn’t everyone?
@@thedevilsadvocate5210 Ours was Murder Hill.🤘😈🤘
I’ve seen these on sale for $1,700 but they are normally around $2,500 for anyone curious. It’s pretty much a really cool “toy” and go to point a and b. Not too much utility in it. I could see me son having fun in it when he turns like 10+. Rather get this over those plastic battery ones for $200-$600.
But if you’re just doing light gardening work about your house, this is a good option over spending $11k on a Kubota or similar. Big differences there, but also $9k between them.
4 wheel drive?
I don't see a trailer hitch...
What Kabota model you referring to? Thanks!
Thanks. This channel was very negligent not to cover PRICE. OMG....WAKE UP ELMER!!
If only there was a way to find the price online…
A Friend in Oklahoma bought one for his 7 yr old girl and She loves it. My grandson is short of 2 yrs old and he will be getting one in a few years.
Sorry you had a bad experience. Hope this one doesn't have a problem! Will keep y'all posted! Thanks for watching!
Now a days one practically needs to pull the things apart first to see just what the thing is made of. Look for trouble areas and the like
There was a great series on YT where a British guy came to the US and bought one of these. He drove it off road 1000 miles to Moab Utah in the winter.
I saw that!!! Guy was nuts! But such a cool video series. Thanks for watching!
That was such a great series! He just giggled his away across the country 😂

And the fuel tank on the back of his jeep was only decorative, so I immediately wondered if yours is as well.
@brinta2868 I wouldn’t use it, but others have told me they use it. 🤷🏻♂️
The fact that it has a spare tire makes it a must have.
Very nice Jeep .I could use one for my mining . perfect gravel bar transportation .Looks reasonably strong .Thanks for sharing .
Dude 9 year old me would've been totally obsessed with this thing! Where were these when I was a kid?!
100% correct. Same here man...but the 44 year old me has fun with it!!! Lol
Omg my power wheel jeep just grew up😮
🤣🤣🤣. Dude that is EXACTLY what its like!! Amazing.
I think you need more power. This more for fun and isn’t built to tow. Even a golf cart would probably serve your needs.
I bought a Coolster mini jeep when my granddaughter outgrew the Power Wheels. These are the perfect next step in size, and I can ride with her while she gets used to the controls.

🤣🤣🤣. Man an old Willis would be amazing. Rides like a brick but will last forever!!!
I had one about 20 years ago, and my friends called it a go-cart for grown-ups. Definitely road like a brick. I had so much travel in steering that every part of driving on the road was a
challenge. I sold it to a friend who still has it!
@jessedevilbiss8436 🤣🤣🤣. Would still like to have one!
Wiĺlys jeeps have a rollbar, at least my dad's had the bar. Good thing because it flipped over on the trail while deer hunting. Prevents broken necks, etc.
Nobody had a willis. Many had a Willys.

I will absolutely check that out! I love machines and this has me really interested!

Thats awesome! Wish I had a pic!

Let red bearded get a hold of it. Turn it into a ground pound demon
Did you warranty any of it? I can see how things will rattle for sure; but thats any gokart. Are you still riding it?
@@JoeTheFarmer We still do use it, but not a ton. My kids don't have much interest in it sadly. Ours was Icebear branded. We got it in 2018. I bought it from a local motorsports dealer because they claimed to go through them and do all the prep to make them better. When I hauled it back to show the dealer after it rolled when the steering separated 5 days after Christmas when my kids got it they said "It's Chinese, good luck" and "we said stuff loosens"
I fully understand equipment, and rattles etc, but the steering should not have completely separated after maybe 1.5 hours of riding.
Good to know i can get one dirt cheap used.

Haven't tried one yet!
Totally agree. Its a great learning tool. And fun!
The way it shifts is awesome
I love it man. So much fun!!!
@@JoeTheFarmer Not a bad price either.
i work at a powerspots delership and ended up working on one of these, and ill admit…. other than the suspension and the thin seat. things pretty cool, and fast/roomy even for my full grown size.
figured i would add as a warning, what i had to do to it was a frame swap. the frames on these things are pretty weak. frame had broke once and got welded back. then it broke in another location, so they brought it to us and i had to swap it out with a new frame. wasnt the cheapest repair.
