    When you talked about not ever letting yourself get hungry really hit home for me. When I really got serious about losing the weight I had packed on the last 2 yrs or so, I realized that I didn’t remember what feeling hungry felt like anymore. I started intermittent fasting to recognize hunger again, and it has helped me so much.

    🖤 I love your videos. I've been doing intermitent fasting 16:8 since December 14th, 2024, and so far, I've lost 10 kilos. It definitely works, and I feel so good. I drink the amount of water I need during the no food cycle and during the food cycle. ❤ I need to lose another 55 kilos for the rest of the year. Thanks so much, Carla, for being such an inspiration for me. 😊🎉

    I love IF (18:6) but found I almost had to be secretive as friends and family at first were worried and negative believing it to be unhealthy .
    Now they see how fit ,healthy and happier I am then I be more open that I have a fasting period and an eating window

    I love intermittent fasting! It changed my life 2 years ago and it was the first time I ever believed that I could lose weight and stick to an eating plan. Now that I'm back to it consistently, and calorie counting I am seeing great results. My favorite is OMAD because I like not having to think about food, but 18:6 is probably my most used method of IF. Thanks for sharing this!!

    I've been doing Omad (and sometimes 2 meals a day) since January 2022. I completely agree that one of the main benefits has been teaching me what hunger REALLY is. When I started, I would also do 36 or 48 hour fasts once a week.

      @@tamtamr9081if you want to get healthy/ lose weight, you will. And you can still have your latte during your window of eating. Intermittent fasting is so flexible. Wonderful job clarifying that during the eating window if it's 8 hours, 4 hours
    , or 12 hours that you don't have to mindlessly munch that entire length of time. You should plan actual meals. When I 1st dabbled with IF about 3 years ago during my keto journey that is what was killing me & triggered my old eating issues, I figured I had to still get my calorie goal in weither hungry or not. I was honestly shoving food in my face even when I may not have been hungry. So thank you for that tidbit hoping that others that are just starting their IF journey focus on that detail. That is the beauty of IF in that by not eating all day long you naturally are calorie restricting by possibly not having an additional "snack" those couple less hours so maybe saving 200 - 400 extra cal right off the bat. ❤🎉

    🖤🖤 I love this video! I've been intermittently fasting since I decided to go for help with my doctors on weight loss. I work overnights at the moment so my window is between 2 and 3pm until between 9 and 10pm. Having that range of times helps me so, so much. I do most of my work during my fast. I have a rule, though. If I start to actually feel hungry as you described here, and I remain hungry for more than an hour and still have hours left to go before bed, then I will get a snack. Usually it's a small tea with almond milk and a couple berries or something similar. It doesn't mess up the fasting and it doesn't turn into a great big guilt trip. I remind myself that's why I have selected these healthy options, because if I didn't need the nutrients, I wouldn't feel hungry like that. I do want to mention to anyone who needs it that if you have a much more active lifestyle, it's important to be super aware of how much you do exercise / work / errands wise while fasting and be safe, and be smart. I have a desk job now, but previously, I have fainted because of having to do physical shift work with dictated breaks and trying to combine IF. Be kind to your body. IF is one way to do so, but it's not for everyone in every situation! Thank you, Carla :D Down 93.1 lbs this week, slow and steady.

    • @HalfofCarla
      @HalfofCarla  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Youre doing amazing Katie. I completely agree with the activity levels as well and that's really good advice that I missed out on. When I run or if I'm incredibly sleep deprived I know that my hunger will increase so I need to be cautious of that and align my fasting window with it xx

      @@HalfofCarla Of course! And thank you. Seriously, though, I wish more people had the information you provided here in general. I feel things like IF get a bad reputation because of, at least here in the states, fad diet culture and people just not taking the time to talk to their doctors about any of it, really. Thank you again!

    🖤TY! I'm so happy to hear you put words to what I also experience. It's been decades since I've known satiety and have at times eaten until I thought I would burst - either the food was amazing or I was in an anxiety provoking situation - and then I piled on the guilt. I am at my best when I practice 16:8 but more often than not am 17:7 as I like a longer food free period before bed. I'm now doing IF with calorie deficit -- because I'm ready. Hope to join the next BS program this spring, very excited about that.

    🖤 I have also been intermittent fasting. I started in order to control my blood sugar levels better, but along the way, it has helped me to recognize true hunger. One thing about the amount of water recommended, check with your doctor about how much you personally should drink. My amount of water was listed as around 120oz, but I have kidney issues and my kidneys can't process that much liquid, so I ended up retaining a lot of fluid. I drink about 64oz/day instead. I also do eat a lot of veggies and fruit, which also has water, so I'm still getting a good amount. Thanks for sharing your journey!

    • @HalfofCarla
      @HalfofCarla  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I agree with intermittent fasting helping a person understand what hunger is. I also found I had forgotten what hungry felt like too, and fasting helped me understand and become more mindful about food. It is a very important thing to learn. Being borderline diabetic, I am more stringent about when I end eating and have to listen to my body when I start eating, so usually around 10:30-11am, sometimes 12.

    I hadn't thought of IF as being used to help one overcome a binge-eating disorder, but it sounds like the perfect thing. It can teach you that you can go long periods without eating and survive it, and how to truly sense when you are actually hungry. And then it makes you drink lots of water, which many people don't really do.

    Thank you, Carla. Just finished my first week of Bodyslims and am very pleased with the results. I have used IF previously and agree that it taught me to recognize true hunger. I am going to incorporate it again with bodyslims. How did you divide your calories between your meals? I try not to snack because it takes me down a path I want to avoid but there are a lot of calories in each meal especially when the foods like veg/fruit are high in fibre and very filling. Any suggestions? 🖤🖤🖤❤️

      I divided 40% to “lunch” 40% to dinner and then for me the rest was snacks. I always planned out my meals for a week in advance and then left my snacks up to if I was feeling like salty or sweet etc xx

    Thank you for this information about intermittent fasting. I was unsure about a point you said. You mentioned you shouldn't consume over 50 calories during the fasting window. What do you mean please

    I read that adding food say under 50 calories is called "dirty fasting" but I'm going to try that because I have to have my coffee in the morning and I cannot get used to drinking a black. I I'm going to add almond milk. (after a bottle of water)

    A wise woman once told me “sometimes you just need water” when i get the shakes and feel weak etc thinking its my blood sugar… took me the next 6 years (this year) to finally listen and try GUZZLING water. I take a 64oz water (& when not that, plenty of water) on me Aalll the time! Its jy latest “addiction” is what i say. I take vitamins as well (they say when ure hungry/have cravings u need nutrition from whatever ure craving)
    I want to try fasting!

    I thought you said that your weight loss was thanks to walking and not dieting. Anyhow I think it's enough to eat just a light meal by 19:30 unfortunately in Italy social life is based on eating out and not early... it's that getting older I don't go out so much hahaha

    I started the 16:8 IF exactly a year ago and have lost 20 pounds…I’m 51 and was always thin but after 45 and 4 teenagers I was stuck at 154 pounds and now I’m down to 134 and feel great 😊💕 I never realized how many chips I was eating at 7 at night watching tv with my kids! I eat 9am-5pm and it’s hard not snacking but you feel already digested before bed and all my swelling in legs is gone, stomach bloating gone-I tried everything before and nothing worked until fasting. More energy and clear skin-I’ve had people think I’m 30 😂💕

    12-8 sounds like the perfect window for me so i can eat with my husband when he gets off work work. Does my thrive shake count as food to drink it during my fasting?! I dont need food when i have it. Lol😊

    Hi Carla, what fitness tracker do you use, or do you have an apple/samsung watch? I've been using a huawei band but am thinking about upgrading it to something better!

      I have the Fitbit sense, I do not recommend it, however I loved the versa and will probably upgrade to the versa 3 when/if I get a bit of money 😂
