  • The Corps memorial weekend 2021 was the first event seeing the #SapperFamily together again for a face to face gathering lasting more than one day in Brompton Barracks.
The Royal Engineers Association hosted a meal in the Warrant Officers' & Sergeants' Mess on the Friday. Saturday hosted the standard bearer's competition, family's day and Warrant Officers' & Sergeants' Mess auction, which raised nearly £2000 for charity.
We were delighted to have our marching contingents out in force on Sunday for the annual memorial parade in Brompton Barracks and Freedom Parade through Rochester.
This year, two Elizabeth Crosses were presented to the sapper family members of Colonel Philip George Hatch OBE and Lance Corporal Geoffrey Bryan Swarbrick, issued to the next of kin of Armed Forces personnel killed on Operations or as a result of terrorism.

Thank you to the Royal Engineers for a wonderful day as a VIP guest as a presentation was made in memory of my brother Lance Corporal Geoffrey Bryan Swarbrick who was killed on active service with the Corps in Korea in 1951.
