I dated a single mom once. She had a little daughter little sweetheart of a girl. One day I came to visit the house I walked into my girlfriend having a conversation with HER mom about life, relationships... choosing the right man. Her mom was telling her," stay with the safe bet ,someone with benefits, and a job.Once you have that, then you can also choose to have fun with the " other guys".
I made noise to make sure they knew I had walked in the house I played it off. I said hello to everyone,and then I said ,"you know what? I forgot something in the car "....I walked out, got in my car, drove away,and never came back.

2023 I am 51.
In 1995 I was 22 US Army stationed in Germany 🇩🇪. Met gorgeous Brazilian who had 2 kids w German and was getting divorced. I fell in lust. Moved in. But, I knew it was a bad call.
Army asked if I wanted to extend 1 more year in Germany? I said no, knowing it would hasten our break up. It did. 1998, I was back in USA 🇺🇸, and got a Christmas 🎄 card from her w new last name Tucker and military address. She married another soldier. 2004, I bumped into her in Germany 🇩🇪 again !! She had another kid w the American. I was an officer now. We had a 1 hour conversation. Caught up. They moved to Georgia. 2019, I went back to Germany. I FB peeked her. Divorced. I am happy w my wife and 2 kids in California. I was lucky 🍀. It’s painful. Like cutting off your infected leg. But, you will be better off. Trust me. I wish I could talk to her 2nd ex husband and ask if he felt it was worth it. He got 2 kids out of her, so maybe? But, now I know she is bound to him and Georgia for YEARS due to custody. Oh well. Life.

I dated a girl with a kid who had a deadbeat dad. After I moved them in, I got death threats and stalking from the dad. Had restraining orders on him etc. I treated this kid like my own, he was so smart, talented, but when we split up, I had zero rights, or say in anything, and I’ve never in my life dealt with so much dam drama. Anytime I meet a woman with a kid, I run full speed in the opposite direction. Heartbeat X2.
I had the same. I met a woman nearly starve to death herself and her 6 months old son.I looked after them 3 years. I have done best of the best for both. I found out she was cheating me last 1 year. I tried to contact her to ask why she did to me like this?
She called police and I was arrested for harresment.
I have got criminal record for harresment. I can not get a job as well.

I dated a single mom w/2 kids. Everything was good at first but I kept locking heads w/baby daddy and when I went to correct the eldest, she quickly said “these are my kids, you don’t correct them” etc I literally stepped back and said “you are 100% correct but let me correct this situation now, y’all living under my roof, eating the food I buy, using the utilizes I pay for etc if I can’t have a say when ‘your kid’ are being unruly, then I think, no, I know, it’s time for y’all to go, it’s over”. With that said she had 2 days to vacate my house with her kids. I wasn’t verbally abusive nor yelling like she was doing but I was firm that she had to GET THE F OUT!

@@charlesg7926 my form of discipline doesn't involve any physical touching of any kind. I used it on my nieces when watching them. They would fight over the TV remote to watch the same Show. So I would get the remote put them in opposite corners put the show on they want to watch. I would simply say you can get out of the corner by apologizing to each other until then listen to the show but no watching of it. It usually took less than a few minutes for apoligies to begin.

Absolutely true. My first wife was a single mother, I raised her daughter like my own for 13 years. We divorced after 13 years, she was cheating on me. After the divorce,Her daughter didn't talk to me for 10 years like I was nobody. My second and current wife had a son from previous marriage.

Thanks for sharing the realities of raising someone else's kids. I decided early on in life that dating single mothers was out of the question, but for different reasons. I always thought it'd be detrimental to a child's life constantly seeing different men/ father figured come in and out of their life (because dating doesn't always work out).
