How to make a Touch Sensor using BC547 transistor on Breadboard

  • In this video, I have made a simple touch sensor circuit using the BC547 transistor on the breadboard. This touch sensor can be used as both touch sensitive light switch and door bell. I have also explained the working principle of the touch switch circuit.

    Components Required for the touch sensor:
    1. BC547 transistor 2no
    2. 10K ohm resistor 1no
    3. 220-ohm resistor 1no
    4. LED or DC buzzer
    5. 9 volt Battery
    6. Connecting wires
    7. Breadboard
    Here I have made a simple touch sensitive switch using BC547 NPN transistor and I have explained the working of the touch switch using the touch switch circuit diagram for better understanding that how the touch sensor works.

    Is it possible to hold the signal on first touch upto next touch?
    Means on 1st touch light will glow and on next touch light turns off?

    Please tell how to make a single plate touch switch . And the led , connected in the output , will glow only on touching the metal plate . Means as soon as the finger is withdrawn the led will stop glowing.

    Hi.. Its nice video & got output perfectly by using both LED & BUZZER. Can u explain how its happening? I am unable to understand... how its working? By connecting base & collector

      very small current flow through your finger from collector to the base so transistor turns on and start conducting. thus circuit turns on.

      bro as the value of the resistor increases then the brightness of the light decreases. you can use the higher value of resistor when the supplied voltage or current is higher.

    How happens if you touch the left wire with left hand and the right wire with the right hand? Does it still work?

      If you only touch the base then it will works its because there is also small amout of current flowing through your body. Now, turning to your question then the answer is yes. the circuit will work.

      It better to use a power transistor instead of BC547

    If you remove transistor T1 and put a normal switch, will it be the same?

      If you remove T1 with a manual switch then the led will glow when the switch is in on state. Then the circuit will no more a touch switch circuit.

      You can find BC547 from any local electronics shop, Amazon etc. Or you can use any NPN Transistors instead BC547
