  • hi ! In this video I showed different ways of using transistor. If you are new to transistors this might be lot helpful. feel free to comment if you have questions related to this. I will help you as soon as I see them.
    Components :
    * 2N2222 or 2n3904 transistor
    * 220 ohm resistor (red, red brown )
    * 10k ohm resistor (brown, black orange)
    * 50k ohm resistor (blue colored one in the video)
    * capacitor (220uf to 4700uf )
    * push button
    * LED

    Little detail for those who tried the first one... It says it uses a 2n2222, but instead, it's a 2n3903. The first one has its pins like CBE, whereas the latter is EBC. That way if you try to copy EXACTLY as you see on the video it won't work! Later, if you see the video that is in the description you can see that it uses the 2n3903. Anyhow, great video, thanks a lot for your effort and time!

    Good efforts. But, you need to give an overview of what you are trying to achieve. Through a circuit diagram , or subtitles or through narration.

    For timed switching I would take a MOSFET transistor.
    Because a MOSFET requires almost no gate current unlike normal NPN / PNP transistors. A capacitor connected to the gate can be charged and discharged by potentiometer within any time.
    Without discharge resistance, it takes a long time for the capacitor to discharge.
    The base of an ordinary transistor quickly "sucks" the capacitor charge.
    The pins of a MOSFET are as follows:
    G, D, S. gate, drain, source.
    The "control voltage" is applied to the gate. For N-Channel Fet's this voltage must be positive. For P-Channel Fet's, this voltage must be negative.
    To prevent unintentional switching on, you have to take a pull-down resistor (e.g. 10k). For N-Channel Fet's, this resistor is connected between the gate and the negative pole of the voltage source. For P-Channel Fet's this resistance is connected between the gate and the positive pole of the voltage source.
    The "drain" connection is always connected to the load to be switched. The "Source" connection is connected to the negative pole of the voltage source with N-Channel Fet's. For P-Channel Fet's it is connected to the positive pole of the voltage source.
    If someone wants to switch a relay, a motor, or other inductive loads, then please do not forget the freewheeling diode, otherwise the transistor or MOSFET breaks faster than you can imagine.
    A freewheeling diode is always connected in the opposite voltage direction and especially parallel to the load. Anode to the positive output, cathode to the negative output.

    Just a question.
    Does the transistor give out an continuous voltage or discrete.
    What I mean is does ithe emitter go from straight from 1 to 0 or
    Can you control the emitter's voltage like 0.5 with the Base current

    • @curiosity551
      @curiosity551  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Transistor can go 1 to 0 and also all the values in between. In saturation mode it gives 1 and in cut off its 0. In Saturation transistor acts like a closed switch, opposite with cut off. In active region transistor would act like a resistor whose value depends upon base current. All i said above is just a rough (however good enough) idea. But you can view transistor that way.

    • @curiosity551
      @curiosity551  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vidya Patil this is how transistors work.when i touch the middle pin of transistor and positive wire of battery,current starts to flow into the base(middle pin) now this current opens up path for collector pin which then starts conducting. But the collector emitter path is capable of handling more current compared to emitter base path. Therefore i can place my led between this path which lights up as soon as i touch positive wire and base.

      +Jaysukh Chavda they are almost same except that the led is placed on emitter side in 2nd method. Beginners mostly use 1st method only. 2nd one is just to let them know that a typical npn transistor with same pin configuration can be used as switch with another way too.

      Fact at the first circuit:
      The base current flows off unused via the emitter.
      Fact on the second circuit:
      The base current flows through the LED.
      The first circuit is the most used one. It is also called "open collector".

    For the last circut, the binary one with an inverted button LED, THE TRANSISTOR DOES NOTHING!!!! It has no effect on the function of the circuit.
    The circuit Channels the negative part of the current back at its self to cancel it out and turn it off.
