I can only speak from my experience. up until i turned 30 & had to start taking a new medication was 110 lbs 5 ft 6. I ate whatever i wanted and was snacking constantly because my metabolism was so high. When i got on this medication my appetite went away so i wasn't eating anything more than maybe 2 popcicles a day i eventually made myself eat healthy meals but that was after i had gained all the weight. I gained 10 lbs every 2 wks until i got to 180lbs & i can tell you once i gained weight i could not do so many things i could when i was thin I couldn't squat & jump back up, i couldn't run for only a few seconds, even walking around a store getting groceries wore me out! My knees hurt so bad carrying that weight around & So many more things but my point is when i became overweight i felt like crap all the time vs when im my natural weight. So in my own opinion you ABSOLUTELY have more health problems than when you’re thin.

Fashion has mostly been dominated by gay men. They have their own ideas about beauty. Hence why most straight men do not find super models bodies attractive or do they much care for most high fashion styles. It's up to the individual to decide if they want to follow the standard of high fashion. It's completely a choice. I don't understand why people get butt hurt an older gay man has a very specific ideal of what he thinks is beauty in a woman. Gay men are not sexually attracted to women, so they obviously won't find the curves of a woman sensual. They will have an idealistic idea of how they will dress and look because they haven't and won't spend their life with a woman in her highs and low. Amongst other things. So I wouldn't as a woman, be so inclined to be so bothered by what they set as a standard in the high fashion world, unless of course you want to be involved in it or like it yourself. Also Karl, to be fair was fat once. He's speaking from his own experience over being over weight and he's making valid points.

Although you're partially correct, "not all men are attracted to the same body type",
      Nevertheless...
Most plus-sized women are not attracted to the 'chubby chasers', either.
The Plus sized women want the 'Idris Elbas' and the 'Brad Pitts' of the world.
They need these types of men to desire "Plus Sized Women' instead.
Hence, why we have a Fat Acceptance Movement to begin with.
If you were only concerned with what the "Chubby Chasers" thought, then you wouldn't care what the rest of the men preferred.

    • @selmahare
      @selmahare ปีที่แล้ว +1

I find most of what he did actually very wearable by most body types, just not by overweight people. But there are brands that do have overweight collections now, so I’d suggest the people who prettily criticise him look into those instead, I can assure them that doing so would be a lot more productive to them. As for it being in any way “his loss” the numbers say very differently, because most people in the world are not overweight, thank god _cause it’s a health problem, in case people haven’t heard! He was the best paid and most successful designer of all times, so I really can’t see how a few overweight people (mainly Americans) not buying his clothes constituted any issue to him, it so much didn’t that he stuck to his guns until he died. Making clothes for overweight women was not his calling, his thing, and quite frankly it wouldn’t be mine either. It was simply not his vocation, not what he liked to do. How can something as personal as personal taste, calling and vocation be so offensive to some is something that I will never get. It wildly defies all common sense and logic! It’s like we have been living in a totally mad, upside down world in recent years. You start by making exactly that point and then become senselessly back handed and illogical. Overweight people are constantly warned by doctors to lose the weight, because of the several serious health implications that being overweight brings; for once and for all, being overweight is not a body type, no one is born overweight; it’s a health hazard. It’s not the duty of any designer to cater to that and in doing so feed the madness. But having said that, because of greed again there are a few now who do, so if you are overweight go buy from those instead and leave people like Lagerfeld alone to live their vocation in their own terms, at will. With all the serious health implications that being overweight has, if you are overweight how is your priority not to lose weight, but to vociferate at Karl Lagerfeld because he doesn’t make dresses for you?! 😵‍💫🥴 I can’t, I just can’t with the insane levels of stupidity and just sheer madness.

Saying this as someone who actually have their genital molested as a child not at the 'literally a child' age that the white people seem to infantalized themselves about. Yes, there were actual sexual assault cases happening in the industry and I'm glad it's called out because people deserve a safe work environment. But privileged White people nowadays to separate what is actually sexual assault and rape so not to trivialized what real victims go through because there are still lots women of color suffer real abuses but the media won’t pay attention to them since all the white girls hog all the attention & resources to their smallest 'problems'. The MeToo movement was started by black women then it was gentrified by the privileged white women playing victim to everything. This doesn’t just pertain to sexual assaults, it's also to missing people

Hes 85. He's been part of the 1% since birth. The fashion industry is vain and superficial. Why is the son of a Nazi officer's opinion relevant? He peaked in the 90s.
BUT he does make a point that we are overweight and reaching morbidly obese in America. We DO eat far too much crappy fast food and lead a seditary lifestyle Obesity is a health issue. He what he said might come across as rude or disrespectful but it is absolutely true.

What would you expect a fashion designer to say? That he designs his creations for women who are clearly overweight? The clothes simply do not look very good on grossly overweight women. This is the truth of it.

Lagerfeld is not totally WRONG but wrong in that he exists within our cultural idea of FASHION that dictates that style should be an expression of trends, movements and artistic conceits rather than an expression of our individuality and personal creativity. Our very notion of fashion is wrong and unhealthy for our existance as humans.

People should be pushing thinner than heavily over weight but the problem is the very overweight people don’t feel represented on the fashion industry giving them no confidence I don’t believe they belong on the run way but they should have a place in fashion.

Being anorexic can lead to death by starvation. Heart failure and other causes. Being obese can lead to death by cancer, diabetes, heart attack, and stroke.
    Neither is healthy.
Both are mental health disorders and require the right therapy and therapist.
Never make fun of and put down humans, it can and does do lasting psyche damage. And can even cause them to commit suicide.

women are the ones buying these dresses. When designers are trying to make collections and present them on heavier models they just don't sell as well. Society has a great impact on what we are told to think.

      As a woman, myself...
I am in TOTAL agreement with Karl Lagerfeld.
Not every profession is for everyone.
Hence, the reason for the decline in sales and actual value of the brand for many designers.
When I'm shopping, I don't want to see plus-sized women in the catalogue, and clearly, neither do most women.
Take the same Karl Lagerfeld dress and put it on a slim AND a plus-sized woman.
The 'look' will NEVER be the same.
      Lets keep it honest here.
Kudos to Karl for keeping it honest.
      RIP!

He is denying the reality in modeling. There are lots of women forced to be hungry and go on a restrict diet so they get sick. Its a fact they exploit anorexic women in that industry. He is very good at straying from the topic and manipulating conversations.
