I remember being in college during the mid 1980’s and buying Karl Lagerfeld cologne. I felt like a rock star experiencing an awesome pleasure of life. Thank you Karl Lagerfeld ❤.
He definitely wasn’t right about a lot of things and as you said, it’s up to us to be upset or not each individual person has their own thoughts and opinions it’s called being a human being
Yes, I often agreed w/him on his various statements & not on others….it’s fine. He was entitled to his opinion, just like we all should be. That’s what’s wrong w/society right now (among other things): somehow people aren’t entitled to their opinion anymore w/o punitive consequences assuming you’re on the “wrong” side of popular group think.
This guy has done his homework and comes well informed and well prepared. A refreshing and urgently needed change from coping with clearly less gifted, over opionated, steam in their Ss, whining fashion queens.
Karl may or may not have been “lonely,” but most true artists tend to be of a singular mind/singularly-focused and so it’s not unusual that they often don’t marry since their work IS their life. Really not surprising.
And PS, if a German likes you, they will go out-of-the-way to be exceedingly kind, but you will also always know where you stand with them simply because they will be very honest or what we might call America blunt❤
Love KL. His line is so affordable and to know how many houses he designed for is truly inspiring I do enjoy the collabs between the houses, whether it be "Fast Fashion" or the "Fendace" Collection of which I adore. I also appreciate Donatella doing her rendition of Lagerfeld.
I love how Karl embrace the Chanel style in modern time, no one could do the same classy and modern touch as Karl does! Maybe he's mean, but a great worker and if you want the perfection, Tom Ford do the same, you must be a perfectionist, a little OCD let me say 😅. I understand him because I'm the same. But There's no one like Karl and he will be the best and most powerful fashion director of this time.
The “rooftop show” was held in May 2024 under (at that time) Chanel’s creative director Virginie Viard. Lagerfeld died in 2019. It is regrettable that people who feel the need to “inform” other people cannot get their ducks in a row.😊
He is actually quite funny. I recently bought LAGERFELD for men. It reminds me of my teens. My mom bought it for me in 1988. It cost 75. US.$. I now got it at Walgreens for- obviously alot less. But I wont be taundry and discuss how much. I still love it, but I recently learned about reformulations. Its a shame. Viva K. L.
Let's get things clear, the competition that Karl Largafeld entered, he came second to Yve Saintlaurent, and remained there for the rest of his profession , also he detested Y.S.L.
Only as they apply to the bloated! Since his comment, they have reached a much wider (and slimmer) audience in a host of interesting fabrics and embellishments, hence evolving to a conscious and sometimes costly fashion choice - especially as "street chic" - and not just a dreary uni dimensional necessity for our grocery loving bretheren!
Karl is absolutely right, there is nothing worse than a loose pair of baggy sweat pants on a man or woman, especially an overweight man or woman. Disgusting! 😂 16:06
Look: I must say, I get it. But I have often found Germans to be just a bit too cold for me when I’ve worked with them or had German friends. I like Germans to a point but i find I can’t get close to them so friendships are hard to have. Yes it’s a cultural pattern and not much anyone can do about it. I suppose that coldness is what makes Germans so great at intellectual pursuits like science and philosophy. That’s fine. But I wouldn’t want to be friends or even BE German. It’s a depressing and depressive race. There is something pathological about the German mental condition. It’s very fatalistic and quite dark. Sorry. But it’s the truth.
Wow I have one pair of shoes and a pair of tshirts and one set of track pants and sweater with his cartoonish logo on them. Never knew he was this influential and important. This video was enjoyable to watch.
He was emotionally abused by his mother and his father disapproved of him for being gay. His mother actually ridiculed his appearance telling him how ashamed she was of him because he was fat and ugly. She also blamed him for her looks fading. Plus he was German in Paris during a time when German people were hated due to WW2. He was flawed but he was human. 🤷🏻♀️
Love your channel + iv commented before but doing it and forgetting it is a big concept in the spiritual magickal arts. Of course he knew more than he talked about and one of my regrets is that I will never meet him. GOOD WORK! Your channel and Karl both.
amazing content! thank you for the history!! plse plse try to talk a bit slower and breathe between the sentences, if its in the edit its easy to fix!! Again thank you , you re awesome and i learned so much today!
Sorry Karl, I’ve only known fashion designers who draw ALL of their creations. I don’t what he’s talking about. Yes, Karl was a one of MANY great fashion designers. But YSL, Galliano Valentino were FANTASTIC!!!!
The average person can be rude every day, and basically not too many people will notice. At the end of the day he was just human, he was creative. He made his mark, and he died, like the rest of us will, and one way or another. And yes, we can choose to be offended or not free speech, etc. and we should not forget He is German. I’ve worked for several Germans and the first thing they tell you when they start to actually like you is that they are going to be very blunt and that’s just how they are. Every culture has its peculiarities and viva la difference ! You have to admit it gives us a something to talk about because of course everybody knows who he is, so we can all be a AGAHST! LOL, so why don’t we all in our own way just follow his lead and get a life where we don’t have to have a single thought for what other people are saying, in fact, do the opposite, then be very polite, cordial, and overly apologetic and complementary, and guess what somebody will fault you for that too! I’m just a fan of human beings. It’s not any particular person, but I do admire the creativity. And a good turn of a phrase for instance, in this case what Chanel said or maybe she didn’t but it doesn’t matter. It’s great whoever pinned it. “ I don’t care what you think about me, because, I don’t think about you at all.!😂🎉
A former model of this man has accused him of predatory sex assault against her, in the backstage room in London. The doc is availabe here on youtube. "Karl Lagerfeld a survivor's account of sexual abuse in the fashion industry". She made the accusations before his death, in case someone says she did it when he no longer can defend himself. Not everything that glitters is gold.
Karl adored his mother. He was considered handsome. That must be hard to be in a world of fashion and beauty and you dont fit in look wise. He,was ready to wear among haute couture designs in the fashion capital world 🌎, Paris. He needed a therapist and therapy. His jealousy ruined his armors, Jacques life.
Hebrews 9v27 just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
I love how you just brushed him off as "a little harsh" as if he hasn't said absolutely appalling things about people's bodies.... it's funny because yes the fashion world is ruthless but that ruthlessness doesn't deserve to stand in the way of progress.
I am glad I have found this channel, it’s quick and sparing of unnecessary info BUT you do need to do a bit of work/research on your pronunciation. Oh, and you can’t blame it on your mildly scouse accent either, sorry. 😀
He was a fashion genius but he was creepy. I was in a luxury hotel during fashion week in New York years ago and having a lovely dinner when he sent his runway models into the dining room to walk through the dining room and sneer at anyone who looked like they were having a happy life.
Karl Lagerfeld was a true Renaissance Prince. I don’t think this TH-camr, of whom I had not heard before, was in any way mean. He did his research and everything he says is true. The problem is there is so much left to be said,m. Only two things bother me: 1. This video’s title is blatant clickbait. 2. The TH-camr’s appalling English accent.
I don't understand why he like that that horrid life form Wintour are so highly regarded. This man only found success under the well established previous work of other fashion houses. His own brand was a failure and absolutely not genius. I guess publicity, being a horrible person who says shocking offensive things is what makes a legend more than their work.
@@uav5594 It's out there, his own words, just search his name and scandalous or outrageous and you have endless hours of his own recorded nonsensical out of touch downright mean words.
Yeah, ok, but what about his fatphobia, transphobia, and all of his other problematic behaviours? I get liking the fashions created by whomever you like, but, its truly as problematic as liking the art of a pedophile. Think about that before you drag me. Of course, that's just my opinion and im only one person, but im not the only person who feels this way about KL.
He wasn’t mean at all, just realistic in his world views and very direct. You won’t achieve such lofty goals by being everybody’s darling.
Well spoken!
I remember being in college during the mid 1980’s and buying Karl Lagerfeld cologne. I felt like a rock star experiencing an awesome pleasure of life. Thank you Karl Lagerfeld ❤.

Was he lonely? I didn't get that at all. Because he didn't marry or have kids? Hmm. That's very disrespectful for how loved he was.
An incredible designer and an upfront person, not mean. His sole focus was fashion and he was very prolific, always moving forward.
“At the age of 14, frustrated by the lack of opportunity, he moved”
Can't u get a better speaker of English Terrible accent he reports very fast Could do better

Karl was a genius and a master at his craft , he a designing up to 17 collections per year, the rest is irrelevant gossip
