Those princesses were luckily landed on the Maldive Islands. Then it came to be known by themselves as "Mahila Divaina" (Island of Mahilas or Ladies", then later "Mahala Divaina" and then changed into "Mala Divaina". "Divehi Basa" is their language, that means Language of the Island in which we find hundreds of similar words to Sinhala language. Prof. Vinee Vitharana has composed a book on 'Divehi Basa' which is very important work regarding this subject. Buddhist monuments were there and Pagodas (Dageba) is called 'Usthumbu' in their language. 'Budu-Ge' means our 'Budu-Ge' (Shrine room -Buddha's).
