"Divehi Basa" is their language, that means Language of the Island in which we find hundreds of similar words to Sinhala language. Prof. Vinee Vitharana has composed a book on 'Divehi Basa' which is very important work regarding this subject. Buddhist monuments were there and Pagodas (Dageba) is called 'Usthumbu' in their language. 'Budu-Ge' means our 'Budu-Ge' (Shrine room -Buddha's).
