Spidey and MJ go so well together. I wish the 616 comics would just get them back together already, or somehow integrate their RYV lives into the 616 timeline. Can't wait to get my figures!
I think what really sells the new Spider-Man for me is actually the weblines being more spread apart from each other. It kinda distracted me on the retro one that the weblines were so crowded together.
If you swap heads with the Ben Reilly retro Spider-Man it matches perfect
peter also has new upper legs compared to the retro wave version they are a better sculpt
the hasbro beast mold has toe hinges too (caliban wave blue beast and retro grey beast)
They did so much better with the web lines on spidey than the retro one. I havent seen any of this new spidey with messed up web lines on the face
GOD they need to use matte paint!!!! Such cheap-looking kids toys with all that gloss! ...It would be the easiest thing in the world for them to do but would raise the figures no end!
It's more and more common for Hasbro todo this on comic figures the only ones that get good details and paint is mcu

I was totally baffled on missing out on that retro vintage spidey. I preordered it the day it came out and had it canceled, never seen it in stores, but can't wait to get this in hand. Suck it scalpers. HA

Those holes in the back are like the venom holes in the shoulders. If they want to charge higher prices they should do the little things like fill the holes where they don't need them.
Would a head swap with retro Ben Reilly work? Do the reds match up?

every beast released by hasbro has the toe hinge but honestly I find toe articulation useless at this scale, kinda like finger articulation
So they just reused the retro carded spidey and added the toe hinge... They should made spidey do full side splits for more dynamic poses. They still added that lollipop- syndrome for the head. This just my opinion. Still ordered 1. Thanks for the first review erivera94! more reviews to come!
Also pinless elbows & knees. A definitive Spidey sculpt… now they just need to reuse on spideys going fwd.

I've been torn between this Spider-Man and the Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man. I like the toe articulation, and shade of blue on this one more, but the Amazing Fantasy one has the nice web effects and gripping hands. I really only want to get one of them, as I feel I ought to have a Spider-Man. I have a Kingpin and that Gwen Stacy/MJ figures.
From my personal opinion, I think you’re better off with the Spider-Man and Mary Jane 2 pack. Not only do you get a pinless Spider-Man figure, but you also get a Peter Parker head included with detailed digital face inclusion, plus toe articulation too (which should be an essential feature for all Spider-Man figures from here on out) , plus you get a Mary Jane figure included too. As a Spider-Man fan, I’d recommend this as this seems to be the superior Spider-Man figure to date. There’s already 3 versions of Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man, but repainted. One being the original Amazing Fantasy, the second being the Animated 90s Walmart Exclusive Spider-Man, and Amazing Friends Spider-Man

It depends. I never liked Spider-Man as this bulky. I prefer early lanky (but fit) Spider-Man or 90's even lankier build. It makes him distinct from most other heroes it makes him appear more as an acrobatic, flexible hero and makes it seem more like his strength comes from the spider-bite rather than muscles. It also makes him seem more like an underdog (he is suposed to be pretty short 5 11")
But i can't say the bulky type is inacurrate as he looked like that for a long time too.
If you do want to go for the Amazing fantasy body, you might want to try for the Walmart one since blue is more iconic than first appearance black/grey. It's also the cheapest if you only want Spider-Man (assuming you can get retail price) the 3-pack is also a good option and the argument about getting an extra figure is doubled in that case, but in each case you are paying for the extra figure/s so if you don't want the character/s then that is a moot point.

I am still a fan of he Pizza Spidey. I like his lanky proportions, and big eyed mask.
I do like the removal of pins.

I'm waiting on mine. But ultimately I never gave a fuck about pinless and toes don't add anything to aesthetics or presence which ultimately is what I care about since my figures are gonna be all together on the shelf.
I still prefer the shades of red and blue they used on the Retro, I prefer the head on the retro (which looks great on this RYV too) and I prefer the smaller Spider symbols on the retro, for me it's a nigh perfect representation of the Spider-man from the 90's animated series (the new Walmart exclusive one on the Amazing Fantasy body is WAY off the mark when it comes to being accurate to the cartoon).
Until Hasbro makes the classic look that the retro Spider-Man has, I'll pass on this new one.

Took hasbro only like, 10+ years just to listen to fans to create double jointed arms. They lied many years saying its impossible to do that because females are skinnier and it will snap... 🤦🏿♂️
And they did it for the Power Rangers line, which have arguably smaller arms than Marvel Legends females. And they have butterfly joints.
Begs the question... why do people keep buying them?

to me the retro is still nicer to look at, this one looks too ultimate-ish to me, his headsculpt is ugly and the blue is boring and flat, his head is way too big, his eyes, his logos, it's all oversized
