- Should I add a Mercedes-AMG GT S to my collection? It might read like click-bait, but allow me to explain, and tomorrow's video will go into this in more detail. To ponder the question I popped out to visit Romans International and take an Iridium Silver AMG GT for a short drive.
When I placed the order for the AMG GT R last year it was with the thinking of a delivery circa March/April 2017 with a possibility to use it for this year's car event calendar. In reality I over-expected my delivery date and I would expect the car now further towards the end of summer 2017.
As trips and event dates start to load up into my schedule it's starting to look really rather busy... and that's an understatement! Out of my current cars, the 675LTS and GT8 are two very special cars that I do not want to overuse on motorway adventures where the driving is quite honestly very boring. The Ferrari FF is clocking up miles far too quickly and it looks like I'm going to do around 10k in just a 3 month period from April-June in it - which in all honesty is just too much when you consider it will need various servicing stops along the way, and the value would collapse with that mileage on it. The Focus RS can be used, but I consider it more my daily/backup when other things go wrong, and it's not a 'supercar' so isn't 100% welcome at every event. In short, to create all of this content through the Spring of 2017, there is easily room for another sensible vehicle acquisition that will be financially protected by saving mileage on significantly more sensitive cars to high numbers.
It may, or may not happen, and it may, or may not be an AMG GT, but you have to start the thought process somewhere! And you know what, sometimes we work to do things because we want them, not because we need them, and this is just one of those instances.

statesidesupercars If you think of it as a business asset it makes sense though, e.g. the new faster printer will arrive at the end of the year but your current old printers are losing their value and reliability so you might as well buy the printer for sale now as the best of both worlds.

Schmee150 the AMG GTS could be a good replacement for the GT4 for now since the Aston Martin is too special for long Roadtrips and the FF not that exciting anymore. Until the GTR is here definitely a good "fill-in".

Sell your FF and purchase an F12
Mercedes SLS AMG, Corvette Z06, Nissan GT-R, Mercedes S63 coupe, etc. There's so many other options you should consider rather than purchasing a car that you're getting again in a few months!

yes but he needs a car that while being fast, can also hold his crew and luggage as well, just cause the F12 is beautiful, fast and better in performance, it sucks ass for holding luggage and more than two people

Kromeification the frunk holds quite a bit. And the rear seats are useless for people so they're basically extra storage space.

I think having an AMG GT S during the build up to the new AMG GT R would take away from the "wow factor" when the R finally arrives. I don't think anyone would get bored with the FF in videos. If anything I'd love to see more of the FF.
I'd rather take the M4 GTS next to it.
What about an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV/Audi RS7, a Nissan GT-R or a Mercedes S65 Coupé instead?

That's why I said that I'd take it.
The M4 GTS is actually absolutely awful to drive and not a GT Car t all. I've been lucky enough to enjoy a passenger ride in a M4 GTS, due to a friend of mine who works for BMW Munich. And even he said, that it's the worst car BMW has ever built and the worst BMW he has ever driven.
Huge lack of power, especially in the lower ranges, a rubbish suspension and definitely overprized.
And by the way, he already works for about 20 years now for BMW, so he's experienced a lot of their cars in his life ;)
Well, didn't expect to hear something like this about the M4 GTS. To me it seemed like great car…

Well, of course it's a stunning looking car and especially rare for a BMW factory car, but considering the prize you have to pay for it, I also have to say, that BMW could have done much, much better job ;)

If you don't want to use the FF for the reason you bought it, then you should just sell it.

I sure didn't, so I don't know why you're asking me. Why is using a car like that a bad thing? It's already got a high mileage, it was bought used, the new FF has now been released, so the value in that car is not high. If you think it's not fun enough for youtube because you use it too much, replace it with something else.

Ridiculously crazy how I just found out about this car two weeks ago and immediately fell in love with it. I have seen it EVERYWHERE since. Destined to get one maybe haha.

Well not by definition, but it can be used as one, I just think it could be a fun filler before the GT-R. I just dont think that getting the "lesser" car while you have the big brother on its way is a bit silly

The only reason for this is that you are trying to get the Mercedes Project One so you buy for pretty much no reason the normal GT S.

Waste of money. You have an FF for that reason to do your long distance travelling. Remember, you said it yourself, the FF is very practical. Why buy a car and keep it for a short period of time and then get rid of it after when your GT-R arrives. Hmmmm?

What? It doesn't make any sense, why buy another Mercedes when you already have a GTR coming? There are plenty of other options out there (Bentley Continental Supersports, Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, Panamera Turbo...).

Would you consider a Maserati Gran Turismo? The convertible version would be a unique feature among your cars (although admittedly tougher to film with wind noise).

If you already have the GT R on order and it is luggage space youre after, why not consider a Jag F Type? You might end up keeping it
well as an owner of one i have to support but I do love the AMG its a pretty awesome car, but not as stunning as the F Type

No. Would be a really silly use of resources when you're already getting a GT-R. Which for me, is already a little redundant with the GT8
GT8 is not going to do any motorway mileage, this is in terms of a car for going long distance across the continent.

Makes sense but I suppose it all depends on how comfortable the R is when you get it. For a temp road trip car I would suggest maybe a pre owned 911 or a Bentley continental that's already had the depreciation hit

The only thing is that you might lose interest in the GTR after getting used to having done so many miles in a GTS. If you do chose to go for it, would you be getting rid of the RS?
Why not rent (or perhaps lease) an additional car when you need it? Buying another GT seems a bit excessive, unless it's cheaper for you. No clue.
To buy it now and sell it in 6 months would be an insignificant cost; cheaper than the equivalent hit on the FF/GT8/LTS I would drive instead.

How about the maserati brand? Levante or Quattroporte? Both are roomy and have great sounds!
You shouldn't buy It because when the GT R will come you won't feel that special by driving it as you have had the experience

How does, as far as price ranges go, does the AMG GT compare to a Huracan, maybe the Avio?

I don't think you should by one because then when you get the AMG GTR it won't be as exciting to you
It will be like re-buying the same car in a higher spec
Buy an SLS instead, then the GTR will appear more as an upgrade when you get your gtr
