      fadil shakir He is knowledgeable but compared to the guys who drive the hell out of the cars around a track this guy puts you to sleep. How many people really care about about all these features? They want to see Chris Harris or clarkson burning rubber and pushing the cars to their engineering limits.

    I think that paint colour is a £10,000+ option!
    From the rear 3/4 view it reminds me of the BMW Z8!
    Great video Shmee

    Such a great machine. I had the pleasure of taking one out for a drive through the mountains for about half an hour and compared to any other cars I've driven, Huracan, Porsche GT3, etc... the GTC Roadster is the type of car that you can enjoy comfortably and not get as mad when there is traffic. The transmission is lightning fast and the power pushes you back in the seat firmly. The rear wheel steering give you an almost forklift like turning feel when carving the mountains. It's the type of car you can have fun all day with in S+ mode and automatic shifting, letting the car do all the work and you just work the throttle and breaks (might sound boring but it's not). The fast transmission doesn't give you a feeling of lag or clunky operation. It's almost seamless but still has enough character to make you appreciate and be thrilled by everything it's doing. If you ever get the chance to get behind the wheel of one do it! Just wanted to share my experience with the car if it can add any additional insight to anyone curious. Great review Shmee150, cheers!

    Am I the only one who is growing concerned over the future of car videos on TH-cam? Years ago, we had DRIVE and EVO uploading quality content and there was a real community that was born form that. However, influencers have managed to take over the content vertical by satisfying viewer demand with their own videos that really have this “tone deafness” that autojournalistic videos don’t. Do not get me wrong, I love videos of La Ferrraris and 675 LTs but I much preferred them when it was about the cars \ and less about the “I BOUGHT A 675 LT”. I’m always left with this feeling that said influencer is trying to pass himself for someone they really are not. Please do not confuse this remark for hate. It’s just an honest view of what I find wrong with car videos from this pool of content creators. While I enjoy these videos on a daily basis, there’s something just cringing about their intentions. I find myself asking “Who are you and what are you trying to accomplish with these videos by spending hundreds of thousands if not millions of pounds on these beautiful cars?” They are clearly trying to sell themselves as auto influencers by virtue of the fact that they can afford to own and drive these cars. While there is nothing inherently wrong with that, I far prefer the time when Harry Catchpole or Jethro Bovingdon were uploading authentic reviews and video features that captured the unadulterated essence and beauty of supercars.

    • @Shmee150
      @Shmee150  7 ปีที่แล้ว +86

      Genuinely brilliant comment that I can relate to on a personal level in entirety. I for one have been a big viewer of the more serious content that the channels you mention once provided.
      The thing here is how TH-cam has changed, which is basically following where the audience is and what they want to see. There is a catch-22 about all of this, for example when I started making videos I drove a BMW 123d but because I work for myself that has enabled me to become successful and earn the cars I now show. Working as a journalist for a publication would mean being on a fixed salary and a top limit that wouldn't allow this to be possible so it's always going to make a very large split.
      In terms of the content itself, that is mostly driven by views, and views come from what the audience clicks. For example I revealed my new Vanquish the other day and it received 280,000 views in 24 hours. When I uploaded my drive in the Mini Challenge car it only received 30,000 in 24 hours by comparison. Obviously as a person running a business you will follow the income stream as well as the fact that with it comes channel growth and more views in future. Now there is a line for everyone with regards to how clickbait and low-end they are willing to go and I think my line is lower than just about every other TH-camr in terms of the style of content.
      For myself it's about a balance, getting the right mix of different styles of content; the experience of my own cars, combined with attending events and wherever possible going for drives in new releases and press launches. I'm developing as a person in terms of my experience and ability to talk technically but I definitely don't try to pass as a journalist, just give my opinion as I see it and hope that is relatable to some extent. At the end of the day I haven't chosen for people to follow me, that has happened organically just as it has for other channels, and that can only happen if that's the kind of thing people would like to see.

      Great comment and I see where you're going. Personally I think this is the brilliance of youtube. Everyday people being able to produce good content about what they are passionate about. Whilst we will still have Drive and EVO sharing content, this gives a more personal view of vehicle ownership. What I do wonder is what will happen to the concept of a Motoring Magazine, more poinantly "Wheels" in my corner of the world. When youtube can provide a quality review from Tim or EVO/Roadshow/Motortrend instantly there's no need to wait for a magazine to hit the news stands.

      @leeconstant7261 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nemanja P Yeah I totally understand. I think the r8 spyder looks great and sounds great. but it bugs me that it's 60 or so HP down from the r8 coupe. and the turbo s is a tough choice too.

      @leeconstant7261 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nemanja P I love N/A porsche's but the turbo doesn't sound as good as this car or the r8. but I would gladly take the new gt3 over this car. but then again it's not in the same class.

    One thing that I sort of lament is that there will likely never be a hardtop convertible luxury/sport vehicle with a full manual transmission. Dual clutch auto transmissions came into style right as hardtop convertibles started hitting the market, leaving no chance for the true enthusiast's grand tourer with a hardtop convertible to see the light of day.
