You need to align your headlight buckets so they line up with the hood and bumper. There are adjustment screws to do it. Common problem with the 944 after they have been repainted. Few take the time to align the buckets correctly with the correct gaps.
I have adjusted it to the best of my ability...the car was raced before I had it and had what looks like is a front collision in that corner that messed up where the headlight attaches to the fender. This is why it misaligned...I just don't have the facilities to fix it🤷
@@TheMileHighMechanic Yes sir I’m stoked to see what you’ve got planned. I had konis on my 83 and that car handled like it was on fricken rails. The inserts are all you need to make a massive difference. Poly bushings on the lower suspension helps tighten things up as well. I love those clear tail lenses gives your car a nice different look. I watched your cam video, how’s the car drive? Is it a pretty big difference over stock? I’m due for a tbelt in June and I’m thinking of going with a higher duration cam and pair it with a MAF kit. My wallet is hurting thinking about everything I wanna do lol. Brakes for sure there’s a couple inexpensive pad and rotor kits I’ve seen floating around the internet.
@@TakeFlightGarage I won't spoil everything, but the front and rear of the car will be getting a complete refresh in terms of suspension. The cam is definitely noticable...at low gear you either need to be on the grass or off because if you are in-between the car will buck like crazy. In the higher rpms it feels like it has VTEC (from 3000-5500rpm there is a noticeable kick). She loves to rev out, but I've only hit the limiter once because it scares me to rev it that high.😂😂 Overall not much faster, just a little more pep.
Those fuchs look really good on the car. I think the cookie cutters look virtually identical though to anybody that's not into Porsches. But you obviously got some width on those rear wheels which is nice. I'm just laughing now because I've got some new kickers coming for the front and I figured it would sound good enough without doing the backs. You and I are thinking the same thing
These wheels really make the car what it is...the new kickers are better than the old speakers anyway🤷 especially since my car did not have any front speakers or a head unit in it to begin with😂
@@TheMileHighMechanic mine came with some '90s Alpine unit that seems to work pretty good and was probably pretty good for the day. But stock speakers and my car is an 83 but isn't pretty good condition and the speakers were not falling apart yet and functioning. So so I had music. Your deck is awesome!. At my age I don't know if I care that much. My son bought a Bluetooth FM radio adapter that plugs into the cigarette holder and you can just stream music from your phone which seems to work pretty good. Only 20 bucks. I read somewhere that the amplifier for the stereo is underneath the passenger footwell somewhere. I don't know if you found that. I will say again that your looks gorgeous and that red is really Nice!. The thing about a 944 is that the car has the black and color contrast. Until you get to the turbo where it loses that and I think it becomes a different car.
@@drunvert I didn't think that these cars came with amps, but if they did mine definitely does not have it...the interior was gutted of all of the accessories when I got it so I wouldn't be surprised if they removed that too. The new head unit was a pretty penny, but the excitement that I get when it folds out every time is priceless...plus it doesn't look out of place at car shows.
I inherited my late father-in-laws 1983 944 5-spd and I’m just recently enjoying the fun, but idiosyncratic character of this car. Yours looks WAY better than mine. But mine is all original 1-owner.
They are very fun cars to mess around with, and even being stock they handle like a dream. I recommend you find a nice twisty road and let the car eat up the corners. It truly is amazing!
If I were to do the clear marker lights up front I would put yellow LEDs in them, but I think the touch of yellow balances out the front end...who knows I still might put them in and see what they look like🤷🤷
Did the rear hatch tint help reduce the fish bowl heat? That is one thing I’d love to reduce is the horrible fish bowl heat from the sun shining through the rear hatch.
Oh boy did it....it is like a night and day difference in there now. That was one of the main reasons why I decided to get tint so dark. The tint I had installed is ceramic aswell so it repells a lot more heat too.
Car is looking good! Great choice on the color, I have a turbo cab I painted the same color. I saw a video of a 944 turbo (guards red) vs a Macon S (carmine red) and thought the carmine looked like it had more color. That and everyone refers to guards red as "that 80's red" Did you stay with 15" or go to 16" with the Maxlites? Tires? choices are very limited in 15"
I absolutely love this color ...it has so much variance in different lights...a lot richer than guards. The wheels are 16" and the tires are the "pilot sport all season 4." These tires are very sticky...I have been around corners at 120 and they take it like it's nothing.
I can't find any freaking tires. I don't want to get new wheels but there really is nothing in 15 inch anymore. Apparently no one ever thought to make a 16 inch cookie cutter
I'm going to ask you a question. Why do you need a short shifter?. The reason people put short shifters in is to basically speed shift. This is something you absolutely don't want to do on a 944 clutch. This isn't a race car. I've driven lots of manuals as I'm 59 years old and I also have a 2016 Cayman. 6-speed. The throws on this 944 are not that long and they're very easy to use. A short shift kit may be fun to put on but you won't get anything out of it. It's not like you have a three on the tree. I would say spend your money elsewhere or stop spending money all together other than the rear carpet which I've got to do too
While I do agree that you shouldn't be slamming gears on this car, I think a short shifter is a very nice addition. You may think that you wont get anything out of it, but it really made the car a lot nicer to drive. It helped take up some of the slop in the shifter, but it is hard to explain how much better it feels to drive...sometimes it is just the little things.
@@drunvert These cars use rubber washers as "joints" in the shifter, and the new linkage replaces all of that with ball and socket joints. I guarantee you that the 40 year old rubber washers are pretty deteriorated... Trust me you will notice a difference in the shifter
Wow. Looks amazing. Body lines look great too
Thank you so much!! I can wait to release some more content on the mechanical side of things (suspension, exhaust, brakes, ect) so stay tuned!

It was very much worth it, it shows the true beauty of these cars.

@@mikeygarcia3017 I didn't paint the jams because it was a lot more money. Plus the color is also red so it's not very noticable.
Can you still dim gauges with the LEDs?
The lights say that they are dimmable, but they are either on or off in the car. I don't really know why this is, but I guess it's old car things...
