Thank you for such an on point guide, I am entirely new to this stuff and good tutorials seem hard to come by. Just 2 questions if you could help.
Is there a way to create a text and save it so I can use it in various parts of my vid, and still be able to edit it after putting it in all these various parts of the vid?
Is there a way to put a black screen in a desired part of the vid and play around with its duration?
      Thanks again.

    Useful times for me:
10:20 Explains different methods to delete things
    11:20 snap tool
13:00 transitions - dragging clips together with overlays is how you do transitions rather than jumps
    15:06 fade in/out
    20:38 Green Screen
Thank you Teacher's Tech I found this video helpful!

This presenter is truly excellent - knows the product balls deep, doesn't "waffle", understands we have a pause & rewind button, has a truly pleasant 'get to the point' but friendly "I know this program well" style Thankyou for giving your audience some respect and a great product - I really like it -and free!

I've viewed a number of instructional videos and without doubt this is perhaps the best ever. Why? 1. You didn't waste my time fumbling around; apparently you've either rehearsed or edited out the bloopers. 2. Instructions were clear and concise. None of this, "Blah blah blah oops blah blah." 3. You clearly have your audience in mind, versus gathering a bunch of clicks.
    Nicely done sir, nicely done.

We're talking about 3D animated backgrounds, text, lower thirds, intros and outtros, and yes even 3D animated spokespeople to overlay on your videos. There is no other software in the world that can do what this software >> videobuildersoftware7.blogspot.com can do for you...

I've been struggling with video editors. My wife recently started her own "prep-steading" channel, but the technical side falls to me. Imagine that! I started with Windows Live Movie Maker and quickly found it lacking. So, I tried Resolve. BAD mistake! Way more than I need. Very confusing and complicated. Looked at some others with same conclusion. Then, I came across THIS tutorial! Watched it and immediately downloaded Shotcut. Yes, I have a learning curve, but this VERY intuitive and straightforward tutorial has convinced me that Shotcut is the one I'll use. Thanks for introducing me to this program. I believe the quality of her videos is definitely going to improve. Well done, Jamie...I hope that's the correct spelling.

I could understand what you meant by every explanation and I was able to follow along and create my own video after seeing this. Thank you for sharing. Watching this probably saved me many hours of trial and error and I’m sure saved me from throwing my computer up against a wall lol

This tutorial rocks! I recently upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and it became clear within minutes of experimenting that the Win10 equivalent of Windows Live Movie Maker (i.e. Photos) is grossly inadequate, even for the ultra-simple video editing that I am looking for. A little web research led me to Shotcut and you have hit on all of my basic product questions with crystal clear instructions and demonstrations. I can see that I will be barely scratching the surface of its capabilities. Thank you!

What to add to the praise already given? Great teacher? No waste, to-the-point, mature yet "without knowledge" audience in mind. 5 hours of other videos brought back to half an hour? You are a mega time-saver. Kudos. Clearly you know what you are talking about and have overcome all the apprentice mistakes with grace. We used to spent a week in an upscale hotel back in the 70ties to learn less. (I miss the great food and ambience that came with it from time to time... :)

    Cheers for this;
I've always been a bit intimidated by 'complicated' editing softwares which have loadsa buttons n bells, but I've not watched all of this tutorial yet and I've already produced my first multi-track video.
I've just got SO used to using (& often struggling with) very simple programs, that more complex programs tended to put me off.

I've been using Windows movie maker for years! But, It's time to move on. I've got an action cam and a drone capable of 4K resolution but the maximum you can render on WMM, is 1080p.
So, I've simply got to learn this program. Thanks for the clear, concise info on this! Thumbs up.

Thank you! You are a life saver. I have used Windows Live Movie Maker forever but I no longer have it on my computer (I had to get a new hard drive and reload the darn thing and couldn't get it back on my PC). Anyway I have been trying to find a new editor to use and I had no idea what I was really doing with this one. Your vid really helped a lot!
