This tutorial rocks. Pleasing voice, you don't get too technical and you don't skim over the important stuff too quickly. Great pace! You covered quite a bit in 29 minutes. Thank you. Quick comment: every so often you refer to a section on the screen that's not visible at the time (due to your screen tool's zoom setting), but it doesn't detract from the experience, since it's easy enough to infer (or just to scrub the TH-cam video to a view where that section is visible).

Absolutely stellar! I'm leery of open sores software which can be great, but can also drive you nuts. I'm happy to be impressed by OneShot which feels really solid. Am more impressed with this awesomely well planned, well paced walkthru. Inside of two hours (OK, I hit pause/rewind a lot) I went from clueless about video editing to basic functional competence and am comfortable that I can take it from here. You have the rare combination of the skills and the gift to communicate them...thanks!

At 6:58 you mention removing a track but warn us to be careful in case somethings on it. You don't say why that's a problem. I'm guessing it's not as bad as having it delete anything on it from your computer altogether...

Hi Jamie, thanks for this, OpenShot looks just what I'm .... looking for!
I've been using Sony Studio Platinum for some time, now I mainly use VideoPad, ( I only do very simple videos...) but this looks a lot more suited to my needs.
( Videopad always seems an unfinished product to me... dodgy timelines, limited desktop layout etc.....)
Question: How would I add a "Sparkle" or "Glint" effect in OpenShot?
i.e. a glint, like you would hope you would see on a shiny new glass or needle point! .... keep it simple please! 😁

Since you asked, I use VSDC and an old version of Power Director. There are two acid tests with respect to video editors. Does do the most basic tasks well without a steep learning curve. After that the green screen, function is of critical importance. Most video editors have green screen functions that range from bad to miserable. So, I end up using one program for green screen and another to finish the video. VSDC is what I use for greenscreen. It is not perfect but it is not bad.

I used OpenShot after watching this and I really like it. I used Kdenlive and it was frustrating me in some areas. I tried LMMS and I didn't like the layout and a little confusing in some of the editing processes.
OpenShot looks basic but it's lovely and clean interface hides a pretty powerful and easy to navigate package.

This is one of the BEST tutorials that I have seen. Thank you so much for explaining most of the Openshot video editor. I have a question, the file size is more than expected when I export it. How to reduce the fine video file size, any tips on that?
