This game is so different from Rondo of Blood, it's basically a different game entirely. Now that I think about it, that's probably why they changed the name.... huh.
Most of the real creators of Rondo of Blood was working on Catlevania Symphony of the night. I think this was just a cash grab from Konami but still I love the first stage of this game the most. Plus the music is top notch. I can see in later levels the game looks half done with no effort.

I know it's overstated at this point, but you're literally a god at Castlevania. Considering that this is by far the hardest one, hats off to you for slogging through it with no damage.
Is this one the hardest? I thought HYDROSTORM solves all your problems (except for the key ones) unless I'm mistaken (is that Rondo only?)
Mahir Tahseen I think III outclasses this one in terms difficulty slightly, also hydrostorm is very expensive to use, (usually about 20 hearts) SotN's Richter mode is where it's really broken.

Out of the ones I've played Chronicles is the hardest. Chronicles is probably the hardest game i've ever beaten

For me, this is the HARDEST First Form Dracula ever. Its so EASY to fall from the platforms and its so HARD to deal damage to our beloved vampire lord... 'nuff said.
pick a sub weapon of choice and just find a good spot to sit and wait, boring but easy.
Just get the cross and stand at the low platform. When Dracula appears near, throw the cross on his face

Many people call this version an "inferior port", but personally, I prefer it over the original. I'd even say it's one of the most solid Castlevania games.
Sure, you miss a few features (such as playing Maria), but at least, the game is difficult. Even the Dracula fight was a joke in the original; here, at least, you get a challenge - as you should in any old-school Castlevania.
I don't understand the hate for this game, I like it and while you can notice they rushed the latter half and the level design isn't top notch it is still a Castlevania game and one with great good battles, excellent music and graphics and the most challenging Dracula fight in the series.

Maybe due to the dramatic change of controls, since the last game (Super Castlevania 4) had great controls. Here, they change the style like the old castlevania games. And people didn't like that, since they were used to SC4's controls.
Not to mention the only one where the Axe is the sub-weapon of choice as opposed to the Cross or Holy Water.
Comparing to Rondo, it's like a flash game. Good for one i guess, still it's just a demake of one of the best castlevania game of all time. Deal with it.

The game was rather rushed into the market in 1995, and it did feel that way, whilst playing it. Konami bosses told the game developers and engineers: “Hey, you there!!! Hurry up, and finish off that cartridge rom for the SNES already. We’ve got another much better project in the works for the newer, and crispier Sony PlayStation. We want to make this one, the GREATEST thing you’ve ever played. You WILL stay, and work overtime, to develop this one. The payoff from this project is going to be ENORMOUS, and the best raise you’re ever gonna get, once we push this one out into the market.”

In Rondo of Blood, it was actually blood that was coming out of death. They made it white in Dracula X my guess as to why is because they thought it didn't make seance for a skeleton to bleed.

It might not seem like it to those who've never play Dracula X, but this is insanely hard to pull off due to the awful hitboxes in this game.
And ridiculously slow movement speed.
It seems they went out of their way to make this game as much of a pain in the ass to play as humanly possible, even going so far as to make the Dracula fight more of a tedious platforming challenge than an epic brawl between the second strongest Belmont and Dracula

This game is unjustly hated. It serves well as a solid Castlevania game and continued to show the strength of the SNES as a system even as its twilight. I have played through both this and the much hallowed PC Engine Rondo of Blood thanks to the Wii. Quite honestly, I think the gameplay here feels smoother and is more rewarding. It suffers from missing many of the series nods and fanservice that Rondo contained as well as the chance to play as Maria, (who is a goofy character IMO), but its a great game. It is also far from the hardest in the series, and Dracula is very much beatable if my weak skills can take him, not to mention a fun and unique final battle.
Speaking of skills, Shadowserge, I have no clue how you are so impossibly well versed with kicking all these games asses, but it is nothing short of awe inspiring. A tip of the cap to you, ye paragon of pixelated punishment.

I'll never understand why they included this game in separate releases when they could've done the Bloodlines in the US to Japenese switch like they allowed the players to do in the Classics collection.
Came to watch the final fight with dracula, impressive patience and timing. I guess u have your jump n slash timed right to slash those fireballs, it seemed so close to get hit at times.
