    Take a picture or two before dismantling. Also at 2:00 you are supposed to tighten the tightener after mounting the drum (drum brake) again at 3:14. You can do that by simply using a flat screwdriver through the hole on the drum to push that gear thingy on the tightener. Push it until you can't push it anymore (There will be resistance when trying to turn the wheel). Enable the handbrake a few times and tighten it a bit more. IMPORTANT: 1. Do not press the breaks without the brake drum on 2. Leave the brake cylinders alone (its on the middle top in the drum brake). The the cylinders might start to leak or pop out, and if it does you have to bleed the brakes. If the cylinders is about to pop out make sure to push in both cylinders (left and right) at the same time. Good luck :D

    No point in changing brake shoes when the brake sylinder is clearly leaking.

      It could just be brake shoe material. Drum brakes accumulate brake dust because it is a sealed system so to brake dust does not have anywhere to go.

    do not let brake fluid or oil come into contact with brake linings

    I don't believe your not changing or servicing the wheel cylinder and cleaning the mess inside, or is this a video on the wrong way to do a brake job?

    Taking apart wasn't that hard,but putting together was a total nightmare.I was unable to put it back,just because of that goddamn main spring and also popped the cylinder.Now,I have temporarily blocked the brake line,in order to clean up that mess.I've changed multiple brakes on multiple cars,but never seen such a creepy thing.

    I po jakiego chooya wymieniasz szczęki skoro są jeszcze grube? Należy wszystko zdemontować, wyczyścić bo jest maras, przesmarować smarem miedzianym i złożyć na nowo i powinno działać. Nie trzeba zmienić bębnów i tarcz bo są grube.

    just adding of the below of brake cylinder leaking and the brakes needs cleaning also, self adjuster mechanism is missing a part on putting new brake shows on...

    Idle sod didn’t clean the backplate first and got dirt/ grease on the new linings.

    • @seismic6402
      @seismic6402 ปีที่แล้ว

      The back plate kinda looked like mine after a number of years of neglect and to be honest a leaking cylinder. I do wonder if the cylinder is leaking.
      Anyway, it will get the guy back on the road and maybe get that back plate properly cleaned later. The build up of dust with the fluid causes a right mess that in my case required grinding off. Surely all that muck may cause the brakes to stick a bit.

      I popped off that seal too but as long as the cylinder does not start leaking its ok. But its better to put on the top spring with the shoes off the car

      if the drums are a little worn you should take sandpaper and remove rust /metal on the edges. makes it easier

    Przy okazji demontażu szczęk powinno się umyć tarczę kotwiczną bo upierdolona strasznie. Jak jesteś mechaniolem i robisz klientowi to jeszcze zrozumiem ale jak robisz dla siebie to dziwie się.

    A good video but could have done with being a bit slower and showing each of the steps bit by bit. I ended up having to pause the video multiple times to check what I was doing and the spring and pin that goes through the pad is a devil to fit !

      There is a big cleaning operation he does not include here, end of video the back plate etc. is clean. The shoes only get dirty fingerprints, brake cleaner can fix it.

    Sorry to disagree with many comments, but this looks poorly done... Shoes contaminated with grease, no cleaning whatsoever and indeed it looks like there's a brake fluid leak that was just ignored... And what's with the endless spinning at the very end? One can hold the hub center and line up the holes in 3s...
