@@All_Things_Fish With the way my collection is expanding, I need more lighting. I just scored enough sponge filtration for a room, and a few more tanks. My local classifieds are great, too. Looking forward to more of your projects!
These deals were actually the result of Teo of my friends getting out of the hobby. I met them through the local club, but they were getting older and moved on from the hobby.
As you mentioned, the price of wood (2 x 4s) has gone through the roof. I recently built a stand for a 125 gallon tank using the plans from a video that was 10 years old. The narrator claimed this would not cost more than $50 to build. Fast forward to 2021, I built the same stand - total cost was $156.00. The wood, 8 x 4s, was of premium quality - it was about $6.5 per 8 footer. If that was not bad enough, when you sighted down the length of the wood, the vast majority of it was quite warped. Certainly was an eye-opening experience. I wonder how much it would cost in 2021 dollars to build exactly what you built way in the day - just how long ago did you build the fish room you described?. Would be interesting to know. Any way, enough rambling. Once again, thanks for the video. I look forward to following the journey of your new fish room build.
I have a huge fish room full of 75 gallon 100 gallon and 55, 29 40 breeders you name it!! I been buying trading and collecting over 4 years and when I first started I would have never believed id have all the stuff I do but it happened slowly and steady just be patient and take advantage of craigslist OfferUp$a gallon!!! I bet out of pocket I'm not even close to 2000 dollars in tanks over the 4 years.... WHICH considering what I have it's amazing how little I've spent considering the numbers and size of tanks!! Just stay focused and always check local online sales places like fb, craigslist etc, I couldn't have done it without them...... and BE PATIENT!!! BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE ANYONE!!!
@@All_Things_Fish yeah it's a hobby that is expensive yet if you're motivated enough you can make things happen and it's a hobby that can generate money as well just have to stay focused and be patient and be creative!!!!
@@All_Things_Fish lol... Yeah I only gave the price I spent on"tanks" i don't even want to say how much I spent on livestock and other stuff and Im sure you don't want to know your numbers either. . LoL
If you know somebody who’s basically giving you a Fish room. Very misleading statement. I just set up a rack. You don’t even know how much I’ve spent. I’m pushing $1000. An air pump to run that fish room to the cost $225 approximately. You stole all that for $500.
It was a steal. You're right. But folks with entire fish room builds are getting out of the hobby all the time, and deals like this aren't hard to come by if you keep your eyes open!

Be patient. Look for good deals. And do the research to know what you want out of your room.
awesome video!
Thanks, Abraham! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice little fishroom there. Can't wait to see the new one.
The new one is going to be much bigger and hopefully better.
Nice haul... used equipment is great.
Used equipment CAN be great. A lot of it is abused junk, though.
Very nice setup love from india🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thank you! Best wishes!
Thanks Mike, very useful videos!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it useful!

Awesome job. Wish I could build myself a fishroom
Thanks, Dave!
How did you do electricity? It looked like that room had no outlets...
Knowing this was a temporary setup(only planned to have it up for a year), I ran extension cords from other areas of the basement.
I love it when those once in a lifetime deals falls into your lap...but luck is where opportunity and preparedness meet. How did yo find these deals?

How did you make the pvc overflows? Did you drill all the tanks?
The tanks are drilled. I did not personally do it. I purchased them like this!
What did you use to cut all the wood?
I use a circular saw for everything while building stands/racks. Maybe not ideal, but its what I had at the time.

Thanks for tuning in and commenting. I started this build in November of 2019, and just tore it down in November of 2020.

Depends in your goals, patience, and budget. It can become as expensive as you allow it to be if you aren't careful!

Sooooo... if someone were SUPER lazy... how much would you charge that someone, to build THEM a fish room? Asking for a friend, of course! 😂 LOL
Depends on who's asking! :P
