I misread this as "Lightning guide" and was like "YES, finally I can torture people in style". Lighting works too though, I can give them seizures with the right amount of flickering.
Totally did the same thing, but thought I was going to be able to fling lightning at opponents. Not disappointed in the video, just my expectations for the game. Lol
Great video, thanks. Anyone wanting to make candles throw a reasonable amount of light, try RA Cinnamon Candles mod, or RA Visual Tweaks (which includes the same changes as Cinnamon Candles)
One trick i did was building lights inside the floor and wall bricks. Instead of useing solid floor blocks I would make it hollow cubes. then place lighting in the cubes making lighting there but unseen. So I would make bridges with two underside 'rails' of hollowed tracks colored lighting. Made the bridges easy to see on and pretty from the outside as weel because light has no boundaries in how it just shoots through solid objects. I even made a rainbow bridge that way once.
You got my subscribe bro. Awesome voice and you always are calm, and very helpful. Can you do a video about the triangle wedges, how to connect them with blocks. It would be soo helpful buddy. Keep up the work please
This is a great video, I always found it tricky to light bases atmospherically and realistically trying to stick to historical realism. This helps and found the different "types" of lights very informative.
Great video, I tend to over or under light my bases, this will be very helpful. I hope Funcom improves the lighting system eventually, having your windowless torture dungeon bright as it is outside is a bit annoying. I've also largely ignored coloured lighting which I need to get over
Glad you enjoyed it! I remember a very similar issue plaguing many of my Ark builds back in the day so it seems quite common in this engine. It's far from a priority, but changing it in the future would be great
Thanks for this video, it's been great help ! The fortress in the intro is amazing, is there any blueprint available, or any chance to be seeing this build in a future video ?
I just have one question. Do you have some kind of background in design and/or building? Your vision for stuff just blows my mind sometimes, and I can’t help but wonder if you went to university for construction or something lol. Wish I had your vision!!
Your lights seems to work differently then the ones for me, most are simular but however I mainly wanted to learn of the best way to stay away from screen lag as iv tried almost everything to get away from it. Even the radium causes lag and it seems there is no true way to get away from fps lag. If I'm wrong I'd love to know.
I don't really tend to get any lighting-related lag unless there's tonnes of them, but that's true for most placeables and building pieces. It could be a hardware-related issue
@@Eradicati0nn I'm using series x, I find that I'm only able to place a few radium torched before I get fps loss. The little braziers seem to work better with less lag, though the Kitan hanging lights I'd say have to be the best so far.
Exactly what I hoped the video is about 😅my poor laptop struggles with CE so much every little performance-saving trick improves the experience. What I've gathered myself is first placing all the lights you want and then removing the ones that aren't doing anything useful until only really needed ones are left. This, and using lanterns - they still eat performance but a bit less than open flame lights

Or horribly blind them with white torches... Barden can attest to that 😂
@@Eradicati0nn - He didn't care for that room too much.

I've learned so much from your vids, you're legit the best conan build guy on youtube!
Thanks Donnie! I do try my best to impart as much knowledge as possible

Glad you enjoyed! Heard plenty of good things about Cinnamon Candles and Visual Tweaks, though haven't tried them myself
Ooooo can I have the link to that first castle build?

Under-floor and hidden lighting is super useful, I do it in a lot of builds and lore videos to highlight certain elements

Finally a decent video about lighting! Good work 👍
Thanks James, glad you enjoyed it!
This vid is literally lighting up my life

Very useful video 👍
awesome video Rad
Thanks ill, glad you enjoyed!
As soon as I get my new PC, I will have you come in and be my interior decorator.
You don't wanna see the behind the scenes of decorating 😂 It's chaotic to say the least

Amazing Guide. This is what i searched a long time. Thank you so much.
Interesting vid. But is there a building guide for that castle in beginning?
Not currently, but it could be done. The design would need some improvement but it'd be a pretty easy mini castle build
Dude needs a show on HGTV.
I mean, they have a reach of almost 100m households. I wouldn't say no 😂😂

I plead guilty. I just put big braziers everywhere 😅
