If i am understanding Roger and Stuart correctly we experience consciousness in short packets or bits and between them there is much more time when we are in a subconscious like state. Our reality is nothing like we presuppose it to be. Our brains are using many frequencies in its operations both classical and quantum at the same time. But what makes it really weird is that in the quantum areas time no longer goes only in one direction. Our brains are undergoing changes, we know this and i think as we use and interact with computers and devices we will rapidly evolve developing powers that were latent, waiting there for us to serve us. Many of us who have levels of these gifts long to develop them at an even deeper level and control...thanks so vary much!
Physical systems in essence are interactive, they have causality, sensory systems the interface between the environment & consciousness are selectively responsive, & consciousness itself is a form of Meta-responsiveness
Drawing some parallels between Vedic sciptures and modern science....The scriptures describe three entities primarily on the the conciousness level...they are the Atman, Brahman and Parabrahman...although its very difficult to conceptualize all 3 of them through my understanding( or may be its just because the English language is just inept and may the desciption is highly accurate in Sanskrit) ....but I would infer it as follows: The Brahman is a huge tree or a network of conciousness in which the Atman is like a fruit or a node in a network and ParaBrahman is like this underlying layer its like the lap in which consciousness exits the substratum layer, this layer has nothing to do with the actual nature of conciousness but without it conciousness wouldnt exist...Now there are multiple instances where we have observed in modern science where we know particles to behave as if consciously when there is an act of observation(Schrodingers electron experiment, double slit experiment, the opposite spin of particles spooky action at a distance) and now we know about the dark energy which I think is very close to description of ParaBrahman but I may be wrong...and scientists have been trying to pin it in theory with mathematical equations but a recent failure was observed in which the theorotical results were had a huge difference with what was peviously considered....It holds a lot of parallels with Hawking theory of Everything and his work on holographic universe...its very hard to pin point but I am glad we are thinking we are thinking away from our body mind and trying to validate conciousness as a cosmic phoenomenon
I just wonder if conscious experience is only one aspect of self. What if conscious experience is like the eyes to a brain, or the feelers/senses of something more that persists and exists independent of the brain. Like if consciousness is just an avenue for a more fundamental aspect of us to experience the reality we know.
I disagree because those that experience NDEs report having a conscious experience in some cases during brain death and so on so it can't just be a collapse that causes conscious experience.
It's more that Stuart Hameroff is saying that this special kind of collapse of the wave function IS consciousness, and this collapse can happen with or without the brain, so he isn't really disagreeing with you.

The brain can trick you.
Once again: we know shit
