What about some of the VR meditation apps? Do any of them induce or help? What about those sensory deprivation chambers, would they induce a 4th state? Also, isn’t this similar to just daydreaming? Are they the same thing?
One thing that VR certainly can't replicate is the specific LED types and flickering frequencies of the NeuroVIZR device. Although visual, the stimuli are completely different (for starters, you use the NeuroVIZR with your eyes closed). This is not to discount VR apps entirely, of course - but like mobile apps, a lot of them are simply "pretty visuals set to generic ambient music", whereas the NeuroVIZR compositions are designed with specific vectors in mind - the interplay of light and sound is carefully calibrated to that effect. When it comes to inducing the "4th state", we just released an episode of Biohacker's Podcast featuring Garnet Dupuis in which he and Teemu Arina both discuss several examples and do a couple of other very interesting deep dives - you can check it out here: biohackerspodcast.com/episode/altered-brain-states-with-garnet-dupuis!
