Creative genius! Fortunately saw him again a few years back at Sweetwater. He played some baroque guitars & other stringed instruments…many of us hadn’t ever seen before. Grateful for all he left behind. May he rest easy now🙏✨🕊🌎
BRILLIANT! Lindley could play shoestrings if they were tight enough! A maestro that is largely unknown to many. Heavenly talent with extraordinary melodic expression!
"Lindley could play shoestrings etc.." ... People could easily be forgiven for thinking that you were using 'hyperbole' but not me, oh no no! That man Daithí could not only have played shoestrings tightened into a sort of tuning, I am full sure he would have left the crowd in awe! If it had strings then Dave could surely play it like nobody else, what a legend, the music was in him and it had to come out. Peace from Ireland to you all x
He's like a grand cru, gets better with age! 30k views and I'm not surprised; this is one of the world's best guitarists and also one of the most modest! Here's to many more years David!
Just so sad that this-absolute musical genius remains unappreciated and undiscovered by the main stream. No doubt why he, Warren, Jackson etc got along so well. “ let’s play another bad one then, ‘cause I love it when the blood drains from Dave face”
I love Mercury Blues. The El Rayo X version was the first I heard. I've also heard Roy Rogers (The slide player, not the cowboy singer) do it. When somebody told me that a new country guy named Alan Jackson had also done it, I was prepared to hate it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't buy his record, but he did a good job.
I have been wanting to buy a dencent tenor Uke for a while now.. Damn, the good ones are expensive.. And then I see a true master on one.. And I know why..
He played backup behind one of the greatest musicians in the world. Dave's genius can be appreciated by looking at Jackson Browne and who is usually right by him on the stage. Browne would be much less without Lindley.
The sound … the tone he gets. Unearthly. Funny how you hear traces of our in his uke and traces of his uke in his old. Everything bleeds from a good heart and magic.
Lovely playing.. wicked at times!.. also could anyone tell me what the song he was going to do nest was and is it available on youtube.. many thanks for the post Moonliner
Kinda an apples & oranges thing. I'm a huge Ry Cooder fan but I'm pretty sure Mr. Dave can do things he couldn't even begin to try. If it has strings on it he can play the hell out of it. We had a Shiner Bock together at the venue where I was working. Check out him doing "Minglewood Blues" on a bouzouki.
@@BlindWillieJackson , on touring Japan together ---- Ry: "David took all the parts that used to be mine and made them *his*, thoroughly his". David: "Ry's disgusting, he can do anything he wants; he always gets a great tone". Ry: "we've had some great church together; I don't know what but that doesn't happen to me very often". I've got a bootleg LP from that tour!
david lindley is lol NOT some lost genius. he is rich and has great (deserved) success since about 1966. MLOL. the fact that folks haven't heard of him doesn't signify shit.
What a gift to the world. He is so dearly missed.
I feel privileged to have seen him multiple times: with Ry, with El Rayo X, and with Hani Naser. No one like him. RIP, Mr Dave.
I occasionally come back to this video to have my mind blown again
I don't know how I just was turned onto this! So Cool! The Amazing Mr. Dave!
Creative genius! Fortunately saw him again a few years back at Sweetwater. He played some baroque guitars & other stringed instruments…many of us hadn’t ever seen before. Grateful for all he left behind. May he rest easy now🙏✨🕊🌎
Total Master of all he plays, fingers dance across the fretboards and he is a born troubadour.
He is not human :) such an amazing talent that we have all been lucky enough to have entertaining us for 50 yrs!!!!
David Lindley is synonymous with QUALITY. A class act, always.
Sport utilities suck

LEGENDARY

See....it’s not the tools but the workmanship that makes great creations... bless him.
And Artistry
The guy is full of surprises.. I love his playing! You can sure hear the influence of all that Oud playing..

David Lindley é uma lenda viva da música mundial.Toda sua obra é eterna.Amo você!
On a ukulele? Seriously? Like Wow, man!

Whoo boy! Super stuff. Gee, I don't tune my (tenor) uke like that. Maybe I should. I'll work on my Baritone.
I have been wanting to buy a dencent tenor Uke for a while now.. Damn, the good ones are expensive.. And then I see a true master on one.. And I know why..
Oddly enough, I have a Koa uke and it doesn't sound like this? He could play an ironing board strung with baling twine. Musical genius!
the very definition of magic...this DOES NOT SOUND LIKE ANY UKE I'VE EVER SEEN OR HEARD. Shaman of the strings.
didnt know u could get other tunings on uke! wicked
Been a fan of the greasy one since the early 80’s.
He is sorely missed ....
I will always cherish the opportunity I had to see him live in Orlando.

Your comment was supposed to read, "traces of Oud in his Uke, and traces of Uke in his Oud". Auto-correct strikes again!
bandleader for" the trio "back in the day
linda,dolly,emmylou
@LostFrequencyCanada I believe thats a baritone uke on the 1st tune
satisfaction assured !!
No one else could do this! ..................................................
Making a uke scream ! Awesome !
This is how a prow noodles.
Lovely playing.. wicked at times!.. also could anyone tell me what the song he was going to do nest was and is it available on youtube.. many thanks for the post Moonliner
An educated guess is that Dave was going to play "The Meatman", which is actually a Jerry Lee Lewis song.
I ukes'ually find the uke to be too cute by about half.
But this is a whole mess of fun!
great!
This is THE SHIT!
Mya-Moe Ukes are fine.
this is the fashizzle
Sometimes the great public out there miss out on so much! Maybe TH-cam will educate 'em, if they care to look deep enough...
this is a tune from his album Big Twang. Tuning: b f# b e
i m very curious on the strings set he 's using on that tuning !!!!!!
He has growen to be at a level of Ry
