Wow! Mighty fine playing, Scott! Love this version of "Cucko!' I've opened for David 4 times here, in Bellingham, Wa! But he never invited me up to play! What an honor! Sadly, I don't think Dave's going to be touring much anymore.
Thanks, James. David is a really sweet cat. In my defense, this was a double bill. I wasn't opening for David, though I did play the first set. And at sound checks and in the green rooms, we had a few relaxed moments together. I was hoping, but not expecting, to get a chance to play with him. The video here was only released with his permission.

What A great musical moment in time . Love How well you Played with together And how quick you were to come out with an on the spot verse when asked to sing , What is Mr David Lindley playing ,It sounds like a citar Maby a modern electric one? GREAT PERFORMANCE !😇
Never heard of you before - this is the first time - great to make your acquaintance -sending love from London UK - and jamming along with you right now !

Bravo, I loved it. You must have impressed Mr Dave. I don't think I've heard of him playing with another guitar player for many many years (other than his stuff with Jackson) Great blend of guitars!
+drmlabs Thank you. I adored my time with Lindley, on stage of course, and off. He smiles broadly once or twice during our playing together, which I only noticed when I saw the video. I was too busy listening to notice at the time. Best wishes, s.
@@dingoswamphead I saw Mr. Dave a few times here in Colorado, I kept my eye open for any appearances and, of course listen on line. I think what he is laying is an Oud.
+Claude Galinsky Thanks, Claude. David shows a decided affinity for 1970s polyester! He is a deeply cool fellow and I enjoyed all my time with him, onstage and off.
With sincere respect, the bouzouki body is bowl-shaped and composed of staves and an iconic Greek instrument. The bouzouki came into traditional Irish instrumentation through Johnny Moynihan and Alec Finn in the mid-1960s. The instrument that David is playing in this piece is the cittern. The cittern and its Medieval predecessor the citole are flat-backed. Moynahan, Finn, and, in particular, Donal Lunny popularized the cittern.
+Jim Kent This, as I understand it, is a custom-fretted bouzouki with quarter-tones inserted into the scales a places where David wanted them. I did not check out its tuning, but we're in the key of E with lots of open strings on both instruments...
Hi Scott........my understanding is that the frets are based on the Baglama Saz, which he also plays. Saz frets are tied and moveable, and can vary, but the common spacing is a 19 fret octave rather than the 12 we're used to. He had those 'extra notes/frets' put in to match what would be on a Saz........Saz has three courses, bouzouki 4........but there's some overlap.......hope this helps.
Beautiful. I am crippled in all but a little French, a smattering of Spanish and Italian, the smallest bits, really. Thanks tons. And my best wishes, s.
R.I.P. Mr. Lindley. What a beautiful set with Scott.

Are you still touring James Taylor?? Listening to you since late 60's but never got to see you live.
Why? Was Dave sick at the time you wrote that? RIP DL
Hats off Mr Scott. Mr Dave ❤️ thanks 👍

The instrument is called a Bouzouki by some, octave mandolin by others. Quite common in the Middle East, not so much in America.
