I'm telling myself that, in truth I want Hokusai because waifu, because she's an amazing servant, because she has her anti-man niche and because she's arts (I love arts comps). She has excellent looping, good CQ potential with the defense down, I have Raikou who is strong against Heaven and Earth and she is strong against Man, so I basically have all attributes covered. Overall a solid servant even in class neutrality. But I do agree, all other foreigners kind of suck, Hokusai is just a solid pick regardless of class
funny thing is that he is not even bad, he is of the Holy trilogy of assassins, Hassan, kama and Li for their NP Cards, roll for him and support him good, Riders will not survive your fists
I already have a grumpy white haired grandpa st arts assasin and his name is Kerry. But it's still nice to see people enjoy li shuwen a lot. I loved him a ton in the America singularity more so than shishou who bored me. This was before seeing extra btw. But yeah I won't roll but with the np up he hits hard so good luck to everyone rolling.
@The Asterisks the extra anime was rather disappointing as it went on but his stuff was fun. Also he has ties to kirie and by extension Rin with the bajuquan style same as para to Rin in gem magic as well. But yeah he caught my attention so much while shishou was a bore. He was just so cool and then lb 3 was more so just as well done. Just wish extra last encore was better.
@The Asterisks old man li shuwen doesn't need to be a girl to be popular just like gilgamesh and Merlin who were big banners for people while still being male. I think most people just wanted lancer li and assasin li to be switched as they originally were in extra and such. plus she stole Fionns story AKA Irish King Arthur which is sad for fionn but funny as all the writers still love him. Urobuchi had him in zero. Apoc he was the winner. Emiya San we see him. Foxtail again he has a chapter. They love him but fionn had his story stolen from him by the purple girl and i don't like that. I didn't like her before I found out as the "better than you" type of character in her was so bland and boring and the bunny suit just makes her a walking joke especially since cu is way more interesting than her and she lost to an oc so she has no victories as well. Never understood aside her body why anyone likes her and glad skadi who is just as bland makes people forget about her since she is more funny as a farmer.
But I gotta be honest tho, his NP interlude buff should've been more than just an additional Instant Kill chance. Still the post-NP damage buff is nice tho.

Yeah, really nice damage. Though i do feel it is important to note that it probably isn't a good 'average' damage. More than likely based off that damage, that Li was NP5 and using black grail, probably MLB. So while his damage would no doubt be impressive regardless, hitting nearly a mil should not be considered 'normal'. If you have the resources, then you're good, but otherwise you're probably looking at around 300k as your most reasonable max damage on NP1.
For clarification the Li I was using was NP3 with a MLB Black Grail so yea the damage isn't exactly representative of what everyone will have, but on it's own Li post-interlude still has the highest NP damage of all the assassins barring any special buffs (like Jack's anti-female or MHX's anti-saber)
i feel the pain of the bones. i have been levelling every servant with a strengthening quest to get those quartz, so my stash of bones is empty. I had to farm for bones several times to get just a few more quartz and still fail to get Yu.

In terms of raw damage, Shuwen is fine. But you're more than likely going to have him at NP1, Shiki comes at NP5 by default. Additionally, Kama is literally coming out in two months and she just has better skills that synergize with the current best supports.
I just got Gramps Li on the CBC banner and I'm back watching this video to see how to best utilize him. I have a max grailed, skilled and almost Fou'd Izo but I love Gramps Li since he's so cool so I'm ready to go into mat hell again to raise him.
As someone who got Li Shuwen (Assassin) as my first SSR i was very upset when i found out that you can't get his final ascension materials until the 3RD GODDAMN LOSTBELT
2x Castoria the Child of Prophecy + Sexy Vitch + Grand Gong + Musical Mozart + Old Man Li (post-NP interlude). With Vitch now in NA, this is actually strong for killing anything such as Break Bars Riders/Zerkers, as well as non-Rulers/Casters that have at least one break bar if you fight just one boss. It allows Li to use a Black Grail (MLB or not) or a CE that provides a 50% NP Battery at the start of battle. It actually helps because Li has two Art and Buster Cards, plus nearly every Rider being 'Human' and/or 'Man'-Attributed. That said, ahem, one would need to own their own Castoria and Vitch to do this.
Since spooking me, his lancer version's served as my go-to archer boss killer for a loooong time. Though wonky to use, he's been eliable. I'm thinking of rolling for him just for that alone. Then there's how badass he is.
I’ll definitely roll for him simply because of whatever supports I can use like Chiron or even Caster Gil. For Chiron, it’s exactly what SoberOni said, while for Caster Gil, he provides the standard Charisma and a team wide Arts Buff with an increased Debuff Infliction Chance. Side Note: Caster Gil also provides team wide Crit Star Drop Rate, something that can help with Li Shuwen Assassin’s already decent star generating.
Li Shuwen is Back, and Ready to Kick some Ass!!! lol ^_^ Seriously though, I'm happy that he's a Story-Locked Servant instead of Limited, so I don't have to worry about him too much; doesn't mean that I won't try to get him (whenever he freaking comes out), since I do wanna try to get him. ^_^ Li Shuwen Assassin is 1 of the 2 Big examples of Servants that I can say the following: Don't let the fact that they're an Old Man make you think that they're weak!! I mean, seriously. Li Shuwen Assassin and the 4 Star Saber Yagyu are Perfect examples of that saying, lol. ^_^ However, although he's an Awesome Servant, I do have to agree that he does have the same issue as his Lancer Version, just not as badly in my opinion; having your Skills be on Cooldown for too long can hurt your Gameplay ALOT!!!! It hurts me to point out the Demerits on an Arts Servant, but for you to figure out a way to make a Servant work you HAVE TO acknowledge their Demerits so you can deal with them accordingly. He really is just Lancer Li given an old, badass paintjob and better numbers... and a new class. (Also, No Second Strike finally has no second strike) Which isn't the worst thing to be, I can say I get a lot of mileage out of young Li whenever I choose to use him. Granted, that one somehow ended up at NP4 without me ever specifically rolling for him, so that helps. But of course, he also has largely the same issues, even if they are slightly alleviated by him also having that three turn Attack buff going. I kind of wish he (either version really) could have a way to charge their NP, but in a way that doesn't allow him to turn it into NP spam. Like idk, as long as he hasn't NP'd, one of the skills just gives him a big chunky charge. A great martial artist should be able to land their killing blow from nearly any situation kind of thing.
Definitely going to be rolling for the Old But Strong Gramps 🇨🇳! He is top tier single target assassin once Castoria drops! May even grail him! 🏆! I’ll be summoning him no matter what 🐋 and hope to get multiple NP levels 🐳. He has all the makings of an amazing Heroic Spirit, only a truly cultured 🎩 Master could understand it’s a must summon for Assassin Li! 👊🏽 On the “Clairvoyance EX” side of things...wouldn’t “Welcome Bunny” be a great CE recommendation for Li Assassin since it gives him Arts, Crit Damage, and helps generate passive Stars✨ ? Helps Li out in his Crit Assassin role I think? It doesn’t have 2400 Attack like Another Ending but does help him be more self sufficient for Crit✨role, tell me what do you think 💭? (Besides the fact that it’s probably the best looking CE ;) in the game).
Wouldn’t Edison be a good Arts Crit Support like what he does for Yagyu which you’ve said before in his review? Once Edison gets his Cooldown upgrade that’ll help out Lis skill usage and defense. Edison is pretty much is the opposite of Li as far as damage but with his W.F.D. NP it also adds a lot of utility and stall that Li doesn’t have. I think it’s a perfect pairing either then the fact that Edison is a Caster..what do you think?

For an arts assassin this boi hits crazy hard, but relies on face cards to loop because of his 1 hit np. Good news is from np 2 onwards he is going to hit harder than Shiki, bad news is that he is nowhere near as consistent. Shorter fights or fights where you can set him up are his biggest stregnths. So you can throw a Kalideoscope on him and put him on your friends list, having access to an Anti Rider Nuke that also taggs a heavy defence down is pretty huge.
After how much Extra and its sequels pushed the lore idea that as a young man he really earned the "No Second Strike" moniker with just his bare hands but then once he got old he picked up the spear to offset those pesky aging debuffs, I find it fascinating that F/GO reverses this idea completely.
This old man is lethal. It took me so many tries to bring him down in LB3. I don't think his poor downtime will be an issue. Let's say you blow his 3rd skill on an NP turn. NPAA, inflict def down and possible total refund. The next turn, he still has 20% attack with the def down from the 1st NP and will gain another def down before damage the second NP. So in a manner of speaking, he retains his mana burst. Although, that's as far as his NP goes. I guess that grievous crit damage is a one time. I cannot think of many target that can take Old Li's NP twice though. This guy is REALLY painful. Btw. As a rather absurd comparison, damage with limited versatility is all Arjuna Alter also does. Is this regarded as unimportant because he's a berserker with fantastic uptime?
In Arjuna Alter's case, him being a zerker and having high uptime on his skills is a part of it yes. But he also has the advantage of being a good wave clearer too so he can do some farming or help clear out a particularly strong final wave of enemies like we see in some events. So I think that adds a lot to his versatility
FINALLY Li Shuwen as an Assassin class Servant Played Fate/Extra before FGO, and was totally shocked at first to why he was a Lancer class servant instead of an Assassin class especially they used Li Shuwen' design from Fate/Extra and Extella Games Kinda misleading
At this point there's very few servants that I would miss out on for gameplay reasons. He'd be cool to have, but the important thing in gacha is value: how much of your quartz is he worth?
Ok so I'm more familiar with his Fate Extra look, which I love more, he seems more cheerful there than his lancer conterpart. I might get him but i hope someday they give us a outfit that gives him his Fate Exta young look.
I love Old Li, but I'm already swimming in ST Arts Assassins(Hundred Face, Izo, Emiya)...I think I'll try rolling for Tamamo instead, since I don't have her yet.

I want to get this one, but waiting over maybe later in the year when he shares the roll with Emiya Alter. Sadly, I get he isn't that great but I like his theme and want to get him. The abilities are cool ^^. Cleopatra probably outclasses him but still I want to get the kung fu spirit themes. ^^ I wish his lancer form was the assassin skin.

It would be criminal not to blast Legend of the Martial Artist when you fight with/against him. Really though I'm still wondering if I should roll for him because he's cool or for Kama since she's busted. I already have Jack to fill in for Kama if I don't get her but Jack's mats are gonna be a nightmare for me to get while I think I can 10/10/10 Kama if I get her. Li's kinda in the same boat as Jack mat-wise.
Need a strong ST Assassin, but if it is between picking him or Big Boobie Indian Sakura (or Loli Indian Sakura, whatever floats your boat) then I have to go for the latter...
An NP5 Izou's NP will actually outdamage Li's NP against enemy servants (assuming NP1 Li before his interlude) and they perform pretty similar roles. I'd say Li is better, but not so much better that I would recommend rolling for him unless you just really like him, i think you are fine with Izou and better off saving for someone else

When I saw Li's skills on the wiki I was pretty underwhelmed. Then I saw him casually do a 900k NP. Doesn't sound like he'll outperform Shiki, Jack or Kama but he also isn't limited so IDK. . .
He is story locked so jack is more available than he is. Kama is limited while shiki is from an event so if you had each of them shiki wins out with the np upgrade she gets later while Kama had a battery but jack can still keep up In damage. Basically after the np upgrade he does a lot better but still would say shiki beats him

Like idk, as long as he hasn't NP'd, one of the skills just gives him a big chunky charge. A great martial artist should be able to land their killing blow from nearly any situation kind of thing.

I’ll be summoning him no matter what 🐋 and hope to get multiple NP levels 🐳. He has all the makings of an amazing Heroic Spirit, only a truly cultured 🎩 Master could understand it’s a must summon for Assassin Li! 👊🏽
On the “Clairvoyance EX” side of things...wouldn’t “Welcome Bunny” be a great CE recommendation for Li Assassin since it gives him Arts, Crit Damage, and helps generate passive Stars✨ ? Helps Li out in his Crit Assassin role I think? It doesn’t have 2400 Attack like Another Ending but does help him be more self sufficient for Crit✨role, tell me what do you think 💭? (Besides the fact that it’s probably the best looking CE ;) in the game).
Wouldn’t Edison be a good Arts Crit Support like what he does for Yagyu which you’ve said before in his review? Once Edison gets his Cooldown upgrade that’ll help out Lis skill usage and defense. Edison is pretty much is the opposite of Li as far as damage but with his W.F.D. NP it also adds a lot of utility and stall that Li doesn’t have. I think it’s a perfect pairing either then the fact that Edison is a Caster..what do you think?
I already have Shuten and Izou but I still want him cause my love of Chinese flicks won’t forgive me if I don’t try!

For an arts assassin this boi hits crazy hard, but relies on face cards to loop because of his 1 hit np.
Good news is from np 2 onwards he is going to hit harder than Shiki, bad news is that he is nowhere near as consistent. Shorter fights or fights where you can set him up are his biggest stregnths.
So you can throw a Kalideoscope on him and put him on your friends list, having access to an Anti Rider Nuke that also taggs a heavy defence down is pretty huge.

He’s a cool guy. I probably won’t pull for him. But can’t deny the great design there.
After how much Extra and its sequels pushed the lore idea that as a young man he really earned the "No Second Strike" moniker with just his bare hands but then once he got old he picked up the spear to offset those pesky aging debuffs, I find it fascinating that F/GO reverses this idea completely.

This old man is lethal. It took me so many tries to bring him down in LB3.
I don't think his poor downtime will be an issue. Let's say you blow his 3rd skill on an NP turn. NPAA, inflict def down and possible total refund.
The next turn, he still has 20% attack with the def down from the 1st NP and will gain another def down before damage the second NP. So in a manner of speaking, he retains his mana burst. Although, that's as far as his NP goes. I guess that grievous crit damage is a one time. I cannot think of many target that can take Old Li's NP twice though. This guy is REALLY painful.
Btw. As a rather absurd comparison, damage with limited versatility is all Arjuna Alter also does. Is this regarded as unimportant because he's a berserker with fantastic uptime?
In Arjuna Alter's case, him being a zerker and having high uptime on his skills is a part of it yes. But he also has the advantage of being a good wave clearer too so he can do some farming or help clear out a particularly strong final wave of enemies like we see in some events. So I think that adds a lot to his versatility

Played Fate/Extra before FGO, and was totally shocked at first to why he was a Lancer class servant instead of an Assassin class especially they used Li Shuwen' design from Fate/Extra and Extella Games

At this point there's very few servants that I would miss out on for gameplay reasons. He'd be cool to have, but the important thing in gacha is value: how much of your quartz is he worth?
Ok so I'm more familiar with his Fate Extra look, which I love more, he seems more cheerful there than his lancer conterpart. I might get him but i hope someday they give us a outfit that gives him his Fate Exta young look.

The abilities are cool ^^. Cleopatra probably outclasses him but still I want to get the kung fu spirit themes. ^^ I wish his lancer form was the assassin skin.

Really though I'm still wondering if I should roll for him because he's cool or for Kama since she's busted. I already have Jack to fill in for Kama if I don't get her but Jack's mats are gonna be a nightmare for me to get while I think I can 10/10/10 Kama if I get her. Li's kinda in the same boat as Jack mat-wise.

An NP5 Izou's NP will actually outdamage Li's NP against enemy servants (assuming NP1 Li before his interlude) and they perform pretty similar roles. I'd say Li is better, but not so much better that I would recommend rolling for him unless you just really like him, i think you are fine with Izou and better off saving for someone else

When I saw Li's skills on the wiki I was pretty underwhelmed. Then I saw him casually do a 900k NP. Doesn't sound like he'll outperform Shiki, Jack or Kama but he also isn't limited so IDK. . .
He is story locked so jack is more available than he is. Kama is limited while shiki is from an event so if you had each of them shiki wins out with the np upgrade she gets later while Kama had a battery but jack can still keep up In damage.
Basically after the np upgrade he does a lot better but still would say shiki beats him
