It's crazy what you can get for under a $100. Although the quality isn't great, if it supports clean feed out, you could technically even use it as a webcam at 1080p.
Pretty cool stuff! I'd be interested in ripping it apart to see the insides of it! Also wondering if there's any chance for the lens to be changed, maybe for one with a shallower DOF
I've checked out and torn down a number of these "scameras", and some points I've come across. Most are a super cheap 2.1 megapixel webcam with a controller that just fakes a higher resolution. Sometimes when you plug it into a computer your computer's camera app will show the actual specs without the cheating. If you look in the "lens", you can see the actual square webcam module that's driving it. Also, even with how light weight it is, they probably do have a metal weight inside. And also, even with the USB-C connector, it's not compliant with USB standards (they always omit the voltage selector dropdown resistor), so it'll only work with a USB A-C cable.
you should upload the video at 60fps so we can better the camera itself in a 60--50fps options, Im actually looking something between 200-100us dollars in order to record my trainings as a football coach and all the cameras have pretty damn expensive prices. I'm not living in a first world country so every penny is valuable. Even 50$ is a hard decision!. I hope you read this and see if you can help with this! I would be really grateful!
It's a lot harder in smaller markets! but if you go used you might be able to get something like a Canon Rebel T2i or a Sony NEX-VG10. (Found a Rebel T2i + 35-80mm lens for under $140 for example. If not, there are some phones like a older Pixel or iPhone with great video you can get well within that budget!
@@SalvadorSoldi I wouldn't recommend a 550D (T2i) for that kind of use. It doesn't have continuous autofocus for videos and it doesn't shoot more than 24-30fps in 1080p, for 50-60fps you have to drop to 720p. My 650D (T4i) does have continuous autofocus but it's quite slow and it doesn't have 1080p 50-60fps either. The video quality isn't horrible but it reminds me of decade old smartphones. For some reason it also crushes the blacks so shadows, black clothes etc. look too dark and lack detail. With Crop Mood (Magic Lantern) it can record really good looking RAW video but you have to use manual settings and even short clips take a LOT of storage (~70MB/s, megabytes not megabits!)
@@SalvadorSoldi I was checking the Nex-5 because some videos said that were able to buy at 50$ but its all bullshit that 14 year old camera is above 350€
At least, they don’t seem to put weights into it to male them feel „better“. 🤪If they were honest, they would advertise it that way: Action Cam in a cheap „Cameralike“ housing. Tiny Sensor with a 3m pinhole and plastic optic. Cropping up to 16x from an mushy interpolated image. (No optical zoom) 4K - yeah, as a joke, you know
