    I've been using the G85 since I started. Been a few years, have gotten other cameras, but they just don't compare for me. I'm a happy Lumix user. Only thing I think would switch my G85 from A Cam to B Cam would be if I got a S5IIX. But the G85 has been my workhorse for any and every situation

    This man has ever since peeked my interest in Lumix M4/3 cameras with a perspective of what M4/3 can do that 8bit full frames of the a7iii era cant.
    Cheers to him for what he does

    The G85 or G80 was a camera that got me the cash to get the GH5. Such a great camera and does all I needed it to do. I bought it second had for 380 and made all the money back on it. Still have it. Today people who are starting there camera journey have some great cameras to start out with. The GH5 second had is going for 600-800 second hand and cameras like the g80 going for 300 or less. Good video to show that a cameras like the G80 is a good enough camera to do paid jobs and always gets you learning better

    Picked one up today for $310, with kit lens, mint, boxed, less than 50 shutter count. I picked it because it's the cheapest Lumix body which has focus bracketing.

    Love the glimmerglass. I got a 1/2, and thnkk I should have gone woth a 1. It cuts sharpness nicely and has a nice amount of bloom without taking away contrast.

    Nice! I just got a G85 with kit lens for $400 on ebay - going to use it as a travel/adventure cam. I'm surprised you're mixing it with your S5ii, which is my A cam as well. Ill give it a try!

    Using the G85 for 2 years now I picked it up second hand it was a good deal. It really started my photo and videography career and tought me how to use a camera in a broad variety of situations. Still have it still love it but I upgraded to an S5 mk II because the autofocus was a huge bottleneck for the work I'm doing.

    You made a great video, thanks. The G85 has very good image quality and I have the same combo. What setting are you using in the Cine-D profile?

    When it was released for the price of 700usd kit'ed, I couldn't believe it. I personally gave it a fair shot with leica primes and truly enjoyed its results in isolation for photography

    This is the camera I use on my content I'm still learning how to use it. I got it for 550 and it came with two batteries and charger, two lenses which both cost over $150 each in the used market, and a smallrig cage

      One question, to charge it, do i need to pull the battery out, or i can just plug the cable into the camera to charge it like a phone?

    • @TheGuy1998
      @TheGuy1998 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've never tried to charge it like a phone yet because I have a separate battery charger that charges two at once.

    I have the G85 as a second/third camera, but I am limited to 29 minutes. Any way to remove that?
    Why aren’t you using the WiFi app to start and operate your camera? 😊

    • @nigelbarrostoo
      @nigelbarrostoo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I honestly hate using the wifi app, sometimes it messes up my audio or just disconnects or my phone dies or someone calls me etc. As for the record limit, how big is your SD card? I'm running the latest firmware and have a 256gb card and I can record past 29 min.

    • @Nqrgaard
      @Nqrgaard 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for replying.
      I actually thing the app is okay and I used it to record, monitor and change exposure during an entire musical.
      I have 128GB and when the time runs out it starts recording 29 minutes more.
      I am a bit unsure if it is G80 or G85.
      It should be the same camera, but depends which country it is sold in

      @@Nqrgaard Yes, I am afraid this is the problem. The EU version (G80) has a 30min record limit, whereas the US version (G85) does not. I am running GH5 and G90 and recently was so happy to find a G80 for a great price as I needed a third camera for shooting concerts (GH5 handheld + 2 cameras on tripods) but the recording limit was a deal breaker. So in Europe you have to go at least G90.

  • @noopynnus
    @noopynnus 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    But why not the G9? It's really not that much bigger/heavier. You still get the benefits of smaller MFT lenses.

    • @nigelbarrostoo
      @nigelbarrostoo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've tried the G9 its a lot bigger than the g85, since i had the GH5 as well i wanted something real small

  • @JeffBourke

      @@nigelbarrostoothe "equivalent" model in other parts of the world, G80, has a 29min 59sec recording limit. Seldom a problem but still it is a bit of a limitation.

    Current prices for the G85 with the 12 - 60mm lens are more in the $400+ range than the $300 range. The lens alone goes for somewhere around $200 except for the occasional bargain.

    • @kentsoderstrom8378
      @kentsoderstrom8378 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, the prices has gone up, because no new lighter G cameras are made anymore.
