DISCLAIMER: ITS NOT A KYDEX SHEATH. That was my mistake for saying that it was. Also, I've heard multiple complaints about the sheath dulling the blade, but I've never had an issue with that. Just throwing that out there 👍
Nylon glass is only a negative on a blade. That and I would not want to rely on pulling the knife out quickly if a predator situation arose. I will have to try the folded strap to see if it is easier to pull out.. the nylon glass is hard to consider for a survival situation. Thanks for the video. Just got the BK22 sheath ~ $25 on Amazon (edit: BK22S is what to look for. The “S” indicates the sheath only. The 22 is the 2, just comes with this sheath instead)
This has been one of the best and most useful TH-cam videos I have seen on the Becker bk2 to date. Thanks for the sheath mod very useful. I have really enjoyed my bk2 it's heavy but it does everything I Ask of it. Keep up the good work!
I really love my BK2 I just put the Kabar micarta scales on it. Wow looks so good and feel like it was made for my freakishly large hands. If you own a Becker KABAR I 100% recommend the scales over the black plastic ones. Also the Kabar BK22 nylon sheath is a great option over the hard plastic click one holds a fire stick and what ever else you can shove into the Velcro pocket. Great review man. 👍
I just picked this knife up and glad I did. Your mods are on point. The only thing I’ve done to mine was to add two straps so I can scout carry and I stipples the scales. There is no slip what so ever now. I have to add some bank line though. Great vid!
Nice review. There's a lot of vids showing what this knife can do. I liked how you explained making it fit your use, without spending more money. Well done. I'm about to begin a stippling job on the scales of mine. I bought a used Camillus BK9 some time ago and the scales had been stippiled, that definitely fixed the grip issue and look cool too.
DannyBoats thank you! I really appreciate it! I like the stippling idea. I bet that would work great and look really nice too. It's a great little knife, just kinda plain. But with a couple mods it works perfectly!
Great video man, liked it so much I subscribed. I have 2 of these and I love them. Never seen the mod you did tying the belt loop down and I love it, definitely gonna try it on one of mine cuz I actually carry mine a lot. Keep it up bud
Great video. I really like the knife and I definatley dont mind the weight. I see alot of people modifying it, removing the coating along the entire tang and I really doubt the wisdom in that since its skeletonized beneath the scales. It would trap moisture in the pockets if its exposed to alot of water. The factory scales are also hollow with sort of a waffle pattern for strenght which I suspect further add to this potential issue. I suspect thats why they made the scales so easy to remove. You pointed out one of the few issues I have with the knife, that it feels a bit slippery but that also prevents blisters to some degree. There is another issue that I concider far greater and that is that an exposed tang along the back and belly of the grip transfers alot of shock through your hand when chopping - and chopping seems to be one of the primary uses for the knife. Still, I like it and I concider all these things design choices rather than a design flaws - if you want a bomb proof work horse on a budget, this is what you get and if you know anything about knives, these things shouldnt come as a surprise.
The BK2 is too thick for it's length. BK7 is a better compromise for being heavy duty, but not too big. But I agree with you about a clip point. While, I don't like the one tool option, the BK9 might be my choice. It weighs about the same as BK2. It will chop better. It can be batoned pretty safely. If a person is batoning a BK9 in a way that risks breakage, they're using judgement that would also be foolish with a BK2.
When they're brand new, it's a super tight fit to the sheath. It has amazing retention. I like to put my thumb on the top of the sheath, while gripping the handle with my fingers, and push down with my thumb while pulling the knife out of the sheath. Idk how else to describe it, but I hope that helps.
I just wear a heavy leather belt that I bought at a gun show. But this sheath mod works great for whatever belt or waist pack you want to put it on. Thanks for the comment!
Did the sheath dull the edge of the blade? I've seen a lot of people complain about that, but apparently the newer sheaths were modified to fix that problem.
I don't get why folks would spend $45 on scales when all ya gotta do is burn sum lines into the grips??? Ive been looking at the bk10 myself cause the weight issue gives me wrist pain, but the bk2 is a cool rig esp that sheath.

Thank you! I appreciate that!
I have 2 of these bad boys. I'm going to MOD one and keep the other one the way it is.
Thank you sooooooo much this is the most useful video on the bk2.
Great vid thanks for the Mods info. Top stuff.
I got one of these quite a while back . Sadly i havent used it at all , but its damn sure one heavy duty knife .
When you get around to using it I think you'll love it. I've beat the tar out of mine for years and it's been a very dependable knife
Belt and bibs , a trend setter, nice .
Chainsaw Surgeon lol. Oh yeah, I'm a trendsetter for sure 😂
Thank you for a VERY informative vid. I will be using some of those ideas.
Very cool video, thanks for sharing.

I'm going to use the belt loop mod,..great idea. 🍺
jim30ca Thanks! it works great for me!
Very nice idea! thanks.
I took the rivets off of the nylon and put a tech lok on and it feels much better
hey man i love that knife too... it is a great knife..

How do you like it for a hunting knife? That'd be one of my biggest uses for it and I'm torn between this and the bk7.
great video man! I'm glad I found your channel..... just subbed
coolkid survival thanks man! I appreciate it.
I have a new BK2 and was inspecting it after removing it from the box and put it in the sheath, but can't get it out for some reason.

@@hillbillydude I thank you for the tip and I will try that. The knife is a monster and the sheath don't want to release it.
What kind of belt do you have I'm a big guy & that looks a lot easier
I just wear a heavy leather belt that I bought at a gun show. But this sheath mod works great for whatever belt or waist pack you want to put it on. Thanks for the comment!
@@hillbillydude I got several knifes Gerber & bucks..

Oliver's World, I've had mine since around 2012 and I've never had any issue with the sheath dulling it.
Thanks for letting me know! It was a common complaint and the only thing keeping me from buying it.
Great video man
subbed ATB Del
