    Funny you described it as a crowbar with an edge. I have literally used my Bk2 as a crowbar when I was in Afghanistan a few time. Cracking open a crate or freeing up a rusted or malformed door or hatch. Knife is a great all rounder.

      I have used mine to chisel through old nails on wooden pallets we were breaking down and to rip up carpet striping out of concrete and all kinds of other hard use and while it's not as putty as it was when I first got its still going strong 7 years later..it really is the best all in 1 knife.

    The Becker BK series knives have far and away the best contoured grips I've ever felt. I haven't done the micarta swap out, but even with that, I have never felt hot spots or like I was losing control of the knife as my hands fatigued. I did grip tape my BK9, and once that was on, yeah even wet, I have never feared the knife coming out of my hand until I set it down. Evidently, Ethan and I have exactly the same size hands.

    GREAT VIDEO!!! You made is very clear what the knife was for, why you did the tests you did, and how well it could perform. The mods you did are superb knife. I always say that it's best to have multiple knives and this, "crowbar with an edge" as you call it, is a knife that could go a very LONG way toward providing long term security and vitality if one was left in a genuine survival situation. I don't own this KA-BAR but I am now considering it.
    Thanks for a great video. Your disclaimers are very clear and help the viewer know exactly why and what you guys are doing every second of the video, excellent.

    Maarten and Mikkie- great review and mods. These knives are made just a couple of hours from me. Ka-Bar's have a great history. My buddy, who just loves your channel is a Vietnam vet. He brought over his USMC Ka-Bar from his time in the Vietnam War. He never sharpened it in the two years he was deployed. He was in combat and beat the shit out of it. It had zero rust. He asked me to clean it and I actually got dirt off of it from Vietnam. It was too cool, knowing the history of that knife. It was an honor to clean it for my buddy. It was still pretty sharp too. Your channel has gone viral and I understand why. Remember I'm coming to visit sometime. Holland rules.

      We have a lot of laws about knives but we have a rule of thumb. We can carry a knife as long as it fits the situations. Carrying a knife in town is always a no go. If you carry a machete on your backpack when you are in the woods it's no problem at all. I always have a fixed blade on my belt when i'm walking the forest. Thanks!

    Because of your video I bought the BK-2. It was cheap and can be found under $60.00 have not used it yet but have all faith that it will perform. About the scales... Are they thicker than the grivory/plastic ones?

    Great informative funny video as always, the zoom in and slowed moments on your reactions are the reason why I will keep watching. Usually these types of videos are so serious, but you guy keep it lighthearted and funny.

    Nice mirror finish on that regrind. I've got to do that to my bk2. I soaked the mikarta in boiled linseed oil, which gave it a nice look and feel, but I'm totally jealous of that grind man.

    Hey guys,
    Really enjoying these videos. Beautifully edited, always hilarious, and wonderfully informative. Thanks so much for all the work you put into these, the effort shows and is greatly appreciated!
    Are either of you familiar with Condor knives? Reasonably cheap, and it shows, (mainly in a plasticky handle and a softish stee quite prone to rust) but still workhorses that won't die! I've owned the Varan for a few years now, and I still can't decide if I like it or not. I'd love to hear of your experience with them!

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks a lot! condor mostly uses 1070 steel. I would actually never buy a knife in 1070. It's a machete steel at best. They do look cool for their price though. Condor would be a nice knife for in the shed to do some chores with you wouldn't use your expensive knife for.
      I don't have any experience with condor knives and I don't know if they use any other steels as well.

    What is the recipe for the stew. Did you add rice to it at the end? It looks delicious. Tomato, parpika, brocolli, egg plant, Chicken, carrots, onion, rice and raisins? looks realy good.

  • @sektion333
    @sektion333 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    great Video love the disclaimers, I love this blade, but I do think the esee steel and warranty is better, than the 1095 crovan is there a reason you prefer it to the esee 1095. Keep in mind I may be partial to esee because I used an Esee 5 throughout my service and fell in love with its reliability.

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi man!
      The difference between 1095 and 1095 cro van arn't major. The big difference between the steels is that essee hardens it's steel up to just 56 hrc which is really soft while becker hardens it up to 59.
      The ESEE's that we've used performed very bad compared to other knives that we use so purely based on that we don't really like ESEE that much.

    what about helle knives?
    I am looking for a good knife to keep forever and.leave it to my son, which one do you recommend?
    thank you

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey mate,
      I tried a Helle GT36. it was a cool knife but I sold it because it was rat tang and I couldn't really use it that hard. It took a great edge though. Who knows we might try a full tang helle someday. The steel helle uses is not very excited though. it's good but we already have had so many 12c27 knives.
      As a knife to last you a lifetime I would recommend you to look at bark river. you can get them in different steels and different handle materials. There are also a ton of models to choose from so you can actually pretty much personalize the knife. I would highly suggest going for cpm-3v or elmax steel.

    Test a Ka-Bar Warthog Knife vs Ka-Bar BK2 and see which knife wins? BK2 has a skeleton tang. I have seen them break on video.
