It was compounded by having discovered his own cancer only a week or 2 after her death. The love these 2 had for eachother was so very evident thru this song. I shed a tear everytime I see it. That kiss at the end was something so genuine and beautiful between friends, I felt it, as Im sure many others did, as if it was me being kissed by my closest most loved friend.

This concert (The Main Event) was one of the best I ever had the pleasure of attending. Liv and John had known each other since the 60s, so they had a wonderful friendship and chemistry 🥰. The other Aussie gem that performed in this concert was Anthony Warlow, and his duo with John singing Granada was excellent and very funny 😅🤗. John's voice lends itself to nail any genre😊.
Loved John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John duets, he brought out something special in her. Olivia was always a generous duet partner to match and harmonize beautifully. Another duet to consider reactions is their version of his song BURN FOR YOU a little later in their careers and the Sept 26, 2024 'lost vocal' release of ON-J with Jim Brickman and Il Vovo titled MY DREAM.
This was originally released as a solo by John many years earlier. Olivia (R.I.P.) was the only person with the talent that could turn it into a duet. As they were both life long friends, they had the passion of their friendship to really sell the song.
You're right about John's voice being a God given talent. He had 3 breathing lessons when he was a teenager, but other than that, he's never had any formal singing lessons. Thank you so much for doing my request. I was at that concert and it just blew me away. The concert was with John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John and one of our greatest musical theatre artists, Anthony Warlow. The camaraderie and love between the three of them is something quite special. There’s so much more of the concert which I’m sure you’ll get around to seeing. John even sings a bit of opera with Anthony which is really quite funny. This was so nice to wake up to Sunday morning while I was having my cup of tea. Cheers from Melbourne, Suzie❤️
John and Olivia started in the business at the same time, in the same town. Despite coming from opposite sides of the tracks, they always got along well. They were great friends since they were teenagers and remained so until 'livie's death. By the way, John cleared the kiss with his wife Jill, before the event.😊
Our Livvy was so beautiful and such a lovely person. I remember watching Johnny Farnham and Livvy on Bandstand, in black and white, growing up in the 60s.
Thankyou for this reaction, John is our national treasure. As everybody before has said he is one of the most down to earth guys you will ever come across.
2 of the very best Aussie singers there are, as far as I'm concerned they are the best but there are so many great singer from Australia. Most of the women around me were crying as for myself goose bumps from head to toe.
Gday Mr Son of Buck. Glad you finally found this song. When you get time, John has a number of duets with Tom Jones and Anthony Warlow, an amazing Australian Opera singer, out there just crying for a Son of Buck reaction. Love your work, stay Aussie mate, can't go wrong.
This was so beautiful, great song and sung to perfection by both of these Aussie legends. The stage presence and performance was so moving, and emotional. John and Olivia have been best of friends for many many years and every time they perform together their connection with each other is magical. And towards the end I think John’s voice was even higher than Olivia’s, incredible.
Of all the farnham xoncerts i have been tobover the years. This one is special. Appart from being an opportunity to hear three of the greates voices on the planet singing together, we witnessed true freindship and support amongst artist. Both Anthony Warlow and Olivia Newton John were recovering from cancers and had lost beleif in their abilities to get back on stage..John being a true freind asked them to go on tour with him and he would back them up all the way. That kiss was just a sweet guesture between 2 best freinds and totally supported by Johns wife and im assuming Olivias partner. And even though they were acting you can tell its real. ❤

Would you believe, John never had any singing lessons. He did have a few breathing lessons though, the rest is all him, and yes Olivea was beautiful both inside and out.🇦🇺😘
John & Olivia are Australia's sweethearts both were originally born in the UK but grew up Australian & are very proud of it, god bless you 😊 from Adelaide South Australia
John and Olivia were long-time good mates. Here is John singing in another of his over 20 genres of capability. Anthony Warlow also joined them at this concert. Please react to Anthony's magnificent performance of , "This Is The Moment", from the musical, 'Jekyll ang Hyde'. It is spine-tingling !
John and Livvy started out together art 16 and 17 years old. They remained close friends for life and John was the last person she spoke with on the phone before she passed away with her family. His wife had to put him back together again. A week earlier he had lost his best friend and manager Glenn Wheatley to complications from COVID. John had permission to kiss Livvy from his wife once a show for the 3 months that concert toured. Gilly was also close to her. So many people who see this think there was more than there was between them. Thank you for not being one of them.❤
Beautiful isn't it? These two old and dear friends had such chemistry on stage because the love was real, albeit platonic. His wife of (now) more than 50yrs, gave her blessing on the kiss. ✌❤
You should try to find the John Farnham documentary released by Sony pictures last year. Will give you the whole fascinating story of how he got to where he is
My fav of their's, is their performance at Sydney Olympics 2000 walking down amongst the athletes singing "Dare to Dream". Beautiful. Whilst on the subject of the Sydney Olympics, suggest you react to Australia's Vanessa Amorosi singing "Heroes Live Forever" she was only 19 at the time. Mind blowing performance
Two great Australian artists. They have been friends since the late 60's, and have performed together on several occasions; John actually asked his wife, if he could kiss Olivia at the end of the performance; great dramatic theatre.
Loved your respectful reaction to this beautiful performance. It was certainly a perfect duet. John and Olivia are immensely talented and both lovely human beings. I'm still sad over Livvy's death. She left a huge legacy for the people of the state I live in, in Australia (Victoria) by gifting a cancer wellness hospital to that state. John is just the consummate performer. This was originally a hit single for him but he made it into a duet for this series of concerts with his friend, Livvy. So sad she is no longer with us and John has recovered from his own battle with mouth cancer. Whether he sings again, is yet to be seen, but we have decades of musical legacy from both these people to enjoy.
Ohh jeez, here come the tears again. John and Olivia were such great mates that John's wife Jilly reached out to her when John was in the depths of despair. His best mate and manager of 35 years, Glenn Wheatley, passed away from Covid at the same time as John was wheeled in for drastic surgery. John was so despondent he lost all interest in the making of the biopic about him, Finding The Voice. Jilly rang Olivia who said, '‘Yeah darling, I’ll give him a call. He needs a kick up the backside!'” Without Olivia's intervention the movie might not have been completed. Sadly, Olivia didn't live to see the movie release, but her audio is there in the biopic, cracked and broken with illness, but there nevertheless.
....it was so hard hearing ON-J's speaking voice in that film. What stand up mates they were. I asked her once, after the second release w/ bonus track of their Christmas album....'wouldn't a duet album of standards with John Farnham be of interest - as I named songs from the Great American Songbook....and she said she would only 'need another lifetime' How lucky to hear them duet. He made her rise to the occasion to be her best, and she got him singing OVER THE RAINBOW for her and at her cancer & wellness center ONJCWRC (for free! :) )
John has a range of A2 to G5 which is about 2.8 octaves. He can sing anything! Have you heard him sing Help or You're the Voice in his concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra?
John asked his wife Jillian permission to kiss Olivia. They were great friends. I read somewhere that the day she passed was the day he got his diagnosis. Not sure how true. Glad your better John.

G'day mike Your spot on John is a God given talent He's not trained it all natural I seen him reply to interviewer asking if he been practising with coach He replied no I'm just extremely luck I was given this gift Aussie's are torn between john and jimmy as who's the best But everyone agrees their both special talents John got voice label because the song voice and he's versatility of genre's Granada with Anthony Warlow and John is as good but very much fun between them both Anthony is classical trained played phantom of the opera He Also early in his career got cancer and lost he's hair and never returned Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍

Hey Mike. I know you said you struggle with ear plugs messing up with listening to the video and trying to hear when you are talking. I had the same problem until I bought some Bone conducting earplugs. They sit behind your ear on the main hearing bone and allow you to hear your voice and other sounds around you with your ears. The thing is that John didn’t really have to work on his voice. He’s never had a voice lesson as far as I know. He was able to produce this voice as a smoker. He smoked for many years.
@@mithrasrevisited4873 Sorry mate, but there was no training for John. He never had a singing lesson in his life, except for a breathing lesson, he was just born with his magical talents. Have a great night 👍
I would say he trained himself. I saw an interview once, can't remember who it was,. They said they shared a place with John once, and he drove him mad singing, as he started as soon as he woke up, and went all day practicing his vocals.

Such a wonderful performance from them grew up with them love them both so much.
Search their music through every decade Both had super sweet personalities and voices their entire lives and started performing from their teens
Such a beautifull song and performance. Love it so much.
Loved your reaction thankyou. Have a great dat
John has a range of A2 to G5 which is about 2.8 octaves. He can sing anything! Have you heard him sing Help or You're the Voice in his concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra?
This is definitely the best duet performance I have ever heard! Beautiful harmonies and fantastic voices!
John asked his wife Jillian permission to kiss Olivia. They were great friends. I read somewhere that the day she passed was the day he got his diagnosis. Not sure how true. Glad your better John.
Love them both, R.I.P. Olivia.
🤗At the same concert, 💕you must watch 👀John and Anthony do Grandeur.🫶Anthony was the youngest Fantom, when he started.💋And Johns range can keep up with him, but not holding a sustained note.💕💕🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶💕💕💕🫶🫶🫶🫶

Great reaction Mike
That was such a tearjerker it was just incredible
Hey Mike. I know you said you struggle with ear plugs messing up with listening to the video and trying to hear when you are talking. I had the same problem until I bought some Bone conducting earplugs. They sit behind your ear on the main hearing bone and allow you to hear your voice and other sounds around you with your ears. I think they will help immensely with your reactions. The quality of sound is great.
Another great song, Thank you, enjoyed your reaction,
This is John’s song you should listen to him sing this on he’s own watch the live clip from with the MSO classic Jack concert 1989..
God forgot to give me my talent.

Hey 3 songs to check out for your 'Driving Mix' ............ 1) Wide Open Road - The Triffids 2) Cattle & Cane - The Go-Betweens 3) Under A Milky Way - The Church ..... enjoy!
Look up Delta Goodrem and Gurramal.
The thing is that John didn’t really have to work on his voice. He’s never had a voice lesson as far as I know. He was able to produce this voice as a smoker. He smoked for many years.
Not God given, no such creature. This is evolution and training.
@@roslynjonsson2383he never had formal singing lessons but I guarantee he had coaching lessons at least with Little River Band because that was how that band operated.
@@Laraine3 John had been singing for many years before he joined LRB, so I doubt very much that he had coaching by them sorry. I honestly can't see it happening, regardless of what their normal routine was. LRB approached John hon, not the other way around. If you have watched John's documentary, its clearly stated that John only ever had a breathing lesson, and that was it.
@@roslynjonsson2383 John didn’t just magically get up front of LRB and instinctively know what to sing and where to sing it. LRB had a very high standard of discipline and nothing was left to adlib.
Illicit love , when you have already committed to another and told them you love them should not be held up as exemplamentry. It is not .
Screen wayyyyy to small we can barely see it..that not enjoyable for us.
