John has been a very lucky man. His cancer was in the mouth and he had to have part of his jaw removed and reconstructed. He has been in recovery for around 2 years now and his family have said that he is currently cancer free and still able to sing. It would have been devastating for him if it had taken his voice, as he just lives to sing. You will learn that his songs represent his views on life which is about solidarity, peace and equality among people. He is a very humble man, a humanitarian and generous with his time. He has fronted many fund raising concerts for people/farmers suffering during droughts and fires in Australia and as far away as Rwanda. He travelled overseas to perform free concerts for our peace keeping troops in war torn East Timor, who couldn't be home for Christmas. And while he may only just now be gaining the awareness of people in the US, He has been well know across Europe as well as Australia and New Zealand. He has also been well known and respected by many of the world's greats for decades. People like Elton John, Celine Dion, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Sammy Davis Jnr, Richard Mark's, Robbie Williams, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ray Charles, Tom Jones, Lionel Ritchie to name a few. Most of whom have either performed with John or have been fans of John's over the years. Just watch Celine Dions movie biopic just released. John is the only artist she pays tribute to. She is a massive fan. Unfortunately the American music industry didn't get John Farnham at the time as they couldn't figure out what genre he fit into. And if he wanted to try and make it in the US he would have to hit the road and start at the bottom and as he had a young family he was not prepared to take the time away from them. Besides he was filling huge stadiums in Australia (selling more seats than the likeS of Michael Jackson who toured at the same time as John once..lol)..and that was enough for him ...Who would want to start at the bottom again. He had had enough struggles in Australia to get to where he was so who would blame him for not wanting to start over again. I hope you'll react to much more from John. He is Australia's sweetheart. I've seen Farnsey live 17 times, was at this concert, and am actually in this video lol. John has been in my family for 5 generations, and is the soundtrack to our lives. John is ingrained into our Aussie souls, and we love him so much. He is the best of the best humans that have ever been. He's one of the most humble people you could ever meet, and we Aussies and New Zealanders are so grateful and proud of all that he is ❤❤❤

Iconic song by an iconic Australian. Robbie Williams performed this song in the pre-show at the 2022 AFL Grand Final as a tribute to Farnsey and the 100,000 strong crowd loved it.
Lovely of you to be so concerned for John's health. You will be pleased to know that he is still in high spirits, telling jokes and having fun as usual. He is doing well !! Cheers❤

The good news is, although the cancer was in his jaw and his surgery lasted 12 hours and he had to have his jaw reconstructed. Just earlier this year the news come from John’s family that he is now cancer free. We still don’t know whether he’ll take to the stage again but apparently he’s been singing around the house. When Jimmy was sick last December, John rang Jimmy and said he thought they should do When Something is Wrong With Baby again but this time in their hospital gowns. John has got a wicked sense of humour and that along with his wife Jill of 53 years and his 2 sons he’s doing well.🇦🇺😘

I think John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time. He is the voice over here and Australia’s favorite son. Please do more John, with over 50 years of performing there’s a lot of great stuff out there. From his early years of starting out to his “Little river band” days and then his later solo years, the best of during the late 80’s and the 90’s. Hi Mike 👋 Hi Aussie Army 👋 Where there is Farnsey, we will gather in droves! 😅 👍 ❤ Thank you for reacting to John and for your kind words of support for him going through his cancer. He is thankfully doing really well and is currently cancer-free. Can also still sing according to his family so who knows, maybe more performances to come! ☺️ This song is incredibly special and is often referred to as an unofficial national anthem of Australia. And with any luck, we will see you reaction to his version of Help soon too. Take care 🙂 ❤❤
All of John Farnham's, Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel reactions should be live as their performances are a show in themselves. 😂😂 watch out when John starts tightening the stand.
Thanks Mike for getting to John he is so loved and respected in Australia I think because he is such a regular down to earth guy. He is still shocked and surprised when people show up. So much more to discover❤❤❤
One of John’s greatest hits and one of many of John’s songs with a powerful and positive message. And those mic stand trick a John trademark, who else can throw a mic stand meters in the air and catch it while still performing, it’s so cool. I think John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time, he can sing anything, any genre.
@@SonofBuck-f7z Yes John intended to be a plumber … but… *John worked as a plumber's apprentice after leaving school. After being discovered by manager Darryl Sambell, he decided to take time off from plumbing to pursue a singing career. Needless to say, Farnesy never finished his plumbing apprenticeship.
Hi Mike love your reactions mate!...John Farnham is the Voice nobody else comes close he is a true Aussie Legend his voice control is second to none...Before his concerts he warms up by singing a Led Zeppelin song "Black Dog" he has never sung it in concert or on any of his records...There is an audio recording of it on youtube because a sound technician recorded it during John's warmup...It is absolutely BRILLIANT! and really worth you reacting to...Keep up the good work mate!
They say John is now cancer free, but he has been through major surgery and at the age of 74 I doubt that he will be doing any more concerts. Especially as his best friend and manager Glenn Wheatley passed away with Covid. They were so close, joined at the hip as they say. John has also done a lot of work for charity, bushfire relief, droughts, relief for the farmers and entertaining the troops, he’s been there. He’s a great guy and we all love him. Glad to hear you beat cancer. I do believe that whether you beat it or not, it’s all part of God’s plan. I know you’re busy but if you get a chance, John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John singing ‘Please don’t ask me’ at The Main Event Concert is something really special.😊
John Farnham had his first number one in Australia with Sadie the Cleaning lady in 1968 when he was just 18. He was a teen idol for a number of years but his career hit a bit of a hurdle in the late 70’s. In the mid 80’s he and his manager heard this song (and picking it above We Built this City) started recording - funded by his manager mortgaging his house. Radio wasn’t initially interested in a returning teen idol but once it got a little airplay it exploded. The resulting album Whispering Jack went to number 1 in Australia for 25 weeks. Like Chisel has mainly been an Australian success story although he has had some success in Europe. He is a great performer and is greatly loved in Australia.
I like John and Tom Jones small spot on Hey Hey It's Saturday an old evening variety show here in Australia. Together they take turns singing "My Yiddish Momme" and you see a wry smile come over Tom's face when hearing and watching John sing. Even he, Sir Tom is impressed. Love it
If you eant to know more of john, there are two things of interest. One is Funny Farnham. The other is, a compilation of interviews. They both show his wonderful personality.
Our beloved John has had cancer in his Jaw. We may not hear him sing again, but knowing he is okay and enjoying life with his family, it's enough for me. The fact he has so many videos out there means we will here him sing forever. I am glad you faught cancer and that you too get to enjoy what life has to offer. My Mum had breast cancer in her 50's. It was aggressive but she is still here today. My Dad has cancer too and other things too and we nearly lost him earlier this year. He was in hospital for 2 months and they were asking family to make the ultimate decision. He has made it through and is now at home. We can be thankful for every moment with him. Keep well all.
As a fellow old copper like yourself from QLD I love the honesty in your comments, mate. You are a breath of fresh air and I’m enjoying your channel. Stay safe, mate.
John Farnham, another great Aussie icon! I'm not really a concert type person. There's only a handful of people I'd bother seeing live. Farnsey is one of them
Great reaction.. I noticed John’s son being on a podcast talking about being John’s son.. I’m going to try and listen to it Also When I was 14yrs old i was diagnosed with a life threatening disease and I was told I would never have kids and that if I survived next few yrs it wouldn’t matter as I would be dead by 21. I remember getting really down but then I thought just say when I’m 20 they come out with new research. And guess what happened when I was 17yrs old they found a way to slow the illness and as I live in country with free healthcare my parents were able to pay for my costs and also even better my mum spent the first yr of my treatment being paid both her wage from her excellent employer and a solid carers pension for her so that she could spend the year cooking with and for me, laying in bed gossiping about everything and anything and making sure she knew if I did pass away earlier than what was wanted that I had been very lucky to have some great experiences
One of the best voices on the planet. It’s such a shame he isn’t known worldwide as he should be. Millions of people have missed out on his talent but it’s slowly getting out there with reactors like you discovering him. Also I saw Kamala Harris is using this song for her election campaign so I’m hoping people dig a little deeper and discover that it’s John and his many amazing songs.
Thank you for reacting to the great 'Farnsey' - you didn't mention the Mic toss, did you miss it? just after the bagpipes and Drum, you see John fiddle with the mic stand as he looks over his shoulder, - then he tosses it up in the air, catches it and throws it across the stage, bit later strolls across to it, kicks it up and catches it again,... whenever John starts fiddling with the mic, keep watching, you never know what he will do, hope to see you do more reactions of John, there are so many more songs to do. Thank you again.
Yes he definitely referred to as The Voice in Australia. This song is a huge anthem qnd even the younger generations know evey word! Fun fact: Kamala Koala is using this song in one of he campaign adds atm 😂
John singing around his home going by his boys and said dad happy He had jaw cancer and removed part of it replace it from I think they said rib bone It's only because he's wife he's here today he woke up and jaw and teeth was acing He wasn't concerned but he's wife made He go get checked and then got rushed into hospital It got close to loosing him but from all reports healthy and happy at home Your correct He is called the voice and many international artist rate him one of the best if not the best singers in the world Also natural talent not taught to sing born to do it Freddy mercury from Queen wanted John to replace him after passing as said best voice he'd ever herd John did many charities for disasters especially farmers and animals from fires floods drought's he'd come out of retirement to sing and normally get he's best friend and manager Glen to organise and get talented artist from all over the world to do it with him Glen was a big lose in john's life and happen while John was fighting cancer he mate Glen passed suddenly They where like brothers and family so was they wife's and kids and unfortunately John couldn't do any tribute for him due to just having operation and didn't even know if he was going to make it It would've hit him very hard even now You should 2atch the documentary they did for John it explains the highs and lows àlso his and glen's mateship without Glen would've seen the John that everyone sees today Tons of john's stuff out their just pick live stuff because always his performance makes it special The recording looses something even in his vocals If you'd like to see some of his personality look up Angel's with Lisa Edwards his back up singer He also does amazing grace with his other two backup singers You'll see the further you watch him he always acknowledges someone in the band on most songs and get a solo He is a pretty humble person and not watched the documentary as can't watch himself Even when being interviewed and if show him in clips he get embarrassed Funny thing could've been a comedian if singing didn't work out always cracking jokes at he's concerts Why I suggested angel's Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Hard to believe that concert was 35 years ago in 1989 at the National Tennis Centre (Rod Laver Centre) in Melbourne. And Mike, thanks for getting the pronunciation of Melbourne correct ... Melb'ne.
Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere but John was given the nickname "Whispering Jack" by audio engineers, due to the tendency for him to blow out studio microphones unless they draped cloth over the mike or got John to sing a lot softer than he was inclined to. At some points in this concert he's holding the microphone a good 3-4 feet away from him and is still clear as a bell over a whole orchestra...
I subd' a few days ago. So glad I did . I never get tired of seeing his joy when singing. Try to watch the doco on his life. .. brilliant. Sorry if you've already seen them but he does a ripping we will rock you with queen. and a great duet with Anthony Warlow. Hope you grab them.. Keep it going mate ... great stuff! thanks. AL
Just love your reactions, I would love it if you could react to John singing It’s A Long to Way to the Top from the same concert and also John singing Burn for you. Keep on enjoying our Aussie music
Also add his version of Black Dog. It's audio only as he only sings it as a warm-up and sound test before a concert. It is unbelievable!!! Love Robert Plants version, but John just blows it out of the water! He uses a song most performers would never even attempt as his sound check. Imagine!! He is a freak if nature. Never had a singing lesson and never warms up before a performance. Just comes out and sings with that God given voice! Enjoy your journey into the wonderful world of John Farnham...The Voice
Our Musicians and " Celebrities" reward us with their craft and we thank them by letting them live a relaxed life where they can walk down the street or go out for dinner at their Local with their Families and NOT be mobbed.. We are all equal.. Just in case your request list is getting small Ted Mulry Gang- Jump in my Car & John Paul Young - Yesterdays Hero
John was originally told he could not record this song but deiced to ask for forgiveness rather than permission LOL it was written by 4 people from England. Most Australians do not follow any of the so called religions.
Mr Son of Buck, try John with Olivia Newton John, and John with opera star Anthony Warlow. John with Tom Jones is also very special. Stay Aussie mate, you are killin' it.
Vice-President of the USA, Kamala Harris is using John's version of this song in an advertisement. John's concerts sold out many times over. He retired some years ago. John is over his jaw cancer. He was astounded at the love and best wishes that were sent to him for his recovery. The operation on it went for approximately 11 hours. It seemed like the whole of Australia was there for him. Apparently he is singing again around home. I CAN"T BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE NOT REACTED TO MORE OF JOHN FARNHAM, EITHER. (I'm not shouting - just don't know how to type in bold.) John sings in over TWENTY genres and perfectly in each one, always changing his songs up in improvement. Try John and his group singing, in a capella, 'Love's In Need,' for your Sunday Song reaction and take us to church.
He was never supposed to sing You're the Voice. The songwriter Chris Thompson only knew him from his teenage years as Johnnie Farnham singing Sadie the Cleaning Lady.
This song came out in the mid-'80s, at the height of the Cold War, when the US and Russia were freaking the world out with their threat to use nuclear weapons.
John is the best I will always believe this however as a Kiwi maybe you could listen to one of ours Stan Walker he co wrote a song called I Am for the Ava Dubaney Film called Origin. His family have a gene that causes cancer it has killed many in his family he has no stomach how he manages I do not know. But watch the official video for the movie which he and a cousin put together most of the scenes are places in and around where both his and his very beautiful wife’s. Tribal lands are those showing a lady is the star of the movie.
If you’re interested in a newer artist, Delta Goodrem is a wonderful story of another superb singer who was struck down with illness and is criminally underrated.
Dont know about blocking much but maybe pause more often or do translucent videos might help. Perhaps search john farnham reactions and see how other reactors do it

@@SonofBuck-f7zWonderful news Mike that you have been Cancer Free for a while 💙🙏🙏fr.🐨🐊🦘
He has got to be the absolute greatest singer Australia has ever produced. Just amazing. He is very precious to us.
I just heard this song in a Political Advertisement for America's Presidential Election. I was so proud he finally got heard in the US🥰
John is Australia's Voice - or our GOAT greatest of all time
Great pipes! Almost mistook him for a plumber.
He looks like a plumber?? 😂. Me thinks he forgot his tools and came on stage with a microphone instead lol.
You’re nuts Kappy lol 😊
@@bernadettelanders7306 well he was a plumber! Probably why he had great pipes 😂
@@Dr_KAP
I know lol, wonder if he carried a few tools when performing if a tap got the wonks lol
So close!
@@SonofBuck-f7z
Yes John intended to be a plumber … but…
*John worked as a plumber's apprentice after leaving school. After being discovered by manager Darryl Sambell, he decided to take time off from plumbing to pursue a singing career. Needless to say, Farnesy never finished his plumbing apprenticeship.
I actually heard this song in the background at the first Democratic convention in your country just the other week.
wow interesting!
It was mouth cancer, not throat cancer and he's recovering thank God.
Treat yourself, grab those you love, and watch john's full concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It's worth it 😍
He's a National treasure ❤🇦🇺🦘
Thank you, and I just added the request to the list ma'am
What a phenomenal experience for all performers involved. They all grew up listening to John singing !
You are such a good and genuine man. The John Farnham rabbit hole is a deep one mate
Thank you my friend. Very kind of you to comment
I’m going to try and listen to it
Also When I was 14yrs old i was diagnosed with a life threatening disease and I was told I would never have kids and that if I survived next few yrs it wouldn’t matter as I would be dead by 21. I remember getting really down but then I thought just say when I’m 20 they come out with new research. And guess what happened when I was 17yrs old they found a way to slow the illness and as I live in country with free healthcare my parents were able to pay for my costs and also even better my mum spent the first yr of my treatment being paid both her wage from her excellent employer and a solid carers pension for her so that she could spend the year cooking with and for me, laying in bed gossiping about everything and anything and making sure she knew if I did pass away earlier than what was wanted that I had been very lucky to have some great experiences
very moving story. thank you. im glad you're still here
One of the best voices on the planet.
Amazing human ❤️
I'm glad you beat cancer Mike. My mum was also one of the lucky ones
thank you, and thank god your mom is good to go...
Fantastic song.from him.Sadie the cleaning lady is a close second
Thank you for reacting to the great 'Farnsey' - you didn't mention the Mic toss, did you miss it? just after the bagpipes and Drum, you see John fiddle with the mic stand as he looks over his shoulder, - then he tosses it up in the air, catches it and throws it across the stage, bit later strolls across to it, kicks it up and catches it again,... whenever John starts fiddling with the mic, keep watching, you never know what he will do, hope to see you do more reactions of John, there are so many more songs to do. Thank you again.
I saw it, and I thought it was cool. I didn't mention it during the event, and then forgot at the end.. But I did see it!
You're Aussie slang is coming along there. I noted your perfect Melbun Symphony Orchestra pronunciation. Not many non-aussies can do that
Yes he definitely referred to as The Voice in Australia. This song is a huge anthem qnd even the younger generations know evey word!
Fun fact: Kamala Koala is using this song in one of he campaign adds atm 😂
Good reaction mate from Australia.
hes the best singer iv heard. in this type of power ballad thing at least.
John was philanthropic and did many concerts
To raise $ for those in need locally and OSeas
John singing around his home going by his boys and said dad happy
He had jaw cancer and removed part of it replace it from I think they said rib bone
It's only because he's wife he's here today he woke up and jaw and teeth was acing
He wasn't concerned but he's wife made He go get checked and then got rushed into hospital
It got close to loosing him but from all reports healthy and happy at home
Your correct He is called the voice and many international artist rate him one of the best if not the best singers in the world
Also natural talent not taught to sing born to do it Freddy mercury from Queen wanted John to replace him after passing as said best voice he'd ever herd
John did many charities for disasters especially farmers and animals from fires floods drought's he'd come out of retirement to sing and normally get he's best friend and manager Glen to organise and get talented artist from all over the world to do it with him
Glen was a big lose in john's life and happen while John was fighting cancer he mate Glen passed suddenly
They where like brothers and family so was they wife's and kids and unfortunately John couldn't do any tribute for him due to just having operation and didn't even know if he was going to make it
It would've hit him very hard even now
You should 2atch the documentary they did for John it explains the highs and lows àlso his and glen's mateship without Glen would've seen the John that everyone sees today
Tons of john's stuff out their just pick live stuff because always his performance makes it special
The recording looses something even in his vocals
If you'd like to see some of his personality look up Angel's with Lisa Edwards his back up singer
He also does amazing grace with his other two backup singers
You'll see the further you watch him he always acknowledges someone in the band on most songs and get a solo
He is a pretty humble person and not watched the documentary as can't watch himself
Even when being interviewed and if show him in clips he get embarrassed
Funny thing could've been a comedian if singing didn't work out always cracking jokes at he's concerts
Why I suggested angel's
Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Hard to believe that concert was 35 years ago in 1989 at the National Tennis Centre (Rod Laver Centre) in Melbourne.
And Mike, thanks for getting the pronunciation of Melbourne correct ... Melb'ne.
John has always remained a humble man unless you ask him to sing Sadie
Yeah, the song that got him going is the one he doesn't want to sing now :(
Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere but John was given the nickname "Whispering Jack" by audio engineers, due to the tendency for him to blow out studio microphones unless they draped cloth over the mike or got John to sing a lot softer than he was inclined to.
Keep it going mate ... great stuff!
thanks.
AL
The story about this one is they didn't have permission to use it but did
Just love your reactions, I would love it if you could react to John singing It’s A Long to Way to the Top from the same concert and also John singing Burn for you. Keep on enjoying our Aussie music
Thanks Trish, I've added those to the list.
There's always someone worse off no matter how bad you feel
It
Amen
Our Musicians and " Celebrities" reward us with their craft and we thank them by letting them live a relaxed life where they can walk down the street or go out for dinner at their Local with their Families and NOT be mobbed.. We are all equal.. Just in case your request list is getting small Ted Mulry Gang- Jump in my Car & John Paul Young - Yesterdays Hero
Recommend checking out a much younger John singing bridge over troubled water it’s so good
John was originally told he could not record this song but deiced to ask for forgiveness rather than permission LOL it was written by 4 people from England. Most Australians do not follow any of the so called religions.
He is now declared cancer free which is great, but at what cost.
Mr Son of Buck, try John with Olivia Newton John, and John with opera star Anthony Warlow. John with Tom Jones is also very special. Stay Aussie mate, you are killin' it.
You have to try your the voice with John Fareham, Anthony Warlow & Oliver Newton John
Unofficial Australian Anthem
John is the best I will always believe this however as a Kiwi maybe you could listen to one of ours Stan Walker he co wrote a song called I Am for the Ava Dubaney Film called Origin. His family have a gene that causes cancer it has killed many in his family he has no stomach how he manages I do not know. But watch the official video for the movie which he and a cousin put together most of the scenes are places in and around where both his and his very beautiful wife’s. Tribal lands are those showing a lady is the star of the movie.
Watch John's cover of The Beatles - Help from the same concert.
This tour was the John Farnham and his big band tour. Typical Farnsie sense of humour.
If you’re interested in a newer artist, Delta Goodrem is a wonderful story of another superb singer who was struck down with illness and is criminally underrated.
Please react to "Gethsemane"; John Played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar.
very hard song to sing
Dont know about blocking much but maybe pause more often or do translucent videos might help. Perhaps search john farnham reactions and see how other reactors do it
good advice, thank you
Now being used in Kamala Harris ads! You might be hearing it a lot more 😄
I doubt it, I tune out of political ads.
Mike this track by John is currently being used by Kamala Harris for her politcal ralies so you may hear it again.
Not officially
And they cut out the line, how long can we look at each other down the barrel of a gun? Feels so wrong to me.😢
Enjoy a coffee on me 🙂🇦🇺
Thank you Frankie. I toast it too you my friend
Try to hear Guy Sebastian & Bella Taylor Smith duet "the Prayer" beautifully uplifting for the spirit
