    I'm one of those "winter is better than summer" people and the reason is honestly super simple. If I'm too cold, I can put on more layers. Doesn't matter how cold it is, I can just keep adding layers until I'm warm. The opposite doesn't really work if it's too hot.

      Absolutely not for me at least. Summer is only good for beaches and sand (if you can afford to go on a holiday somewhere where beaches are) and pools if you like gatherings, but it's absolutely dreadful for too hot weathers and mosquito allergies (or just bugs in general because ew). Winter is only good for aesthetic, snow and snowflakes, other than that, it's dreadful because it is too cold and no amount of clothes could ever warm me enough (it's been happening to me this whole winter idek why, maybe I am chronically cold or maybe it has to do something with that butterfly thingy in our throats (idk what that's called) either way, not fun). Autumn isn't fun either because of too much mud that I ALWAYS somehow step in. That's why I think Spring is the best, at least for me.

      They're apples and oranges, honestly
      LotR is a high fantasy epic, a meticulously crafted masterpiece that reflects and pays homage to its author's life and ideals, and a love letter to the cultural complexity of a bygone era
      Harry Potter is an urban fantasy series that is geared mostly towards younger audiences, but appeals to all ages. Instead of creating its own world entirely from scratch, it sets up an engaging "world within a world" in a modern, familiar, and relatable setting. While it is unfortunate that its author has come out as a divisive individual, that alone shouldn't discredit the effort and dedication that was put into it

      @@TheShadowReviewer As someone who's going through the LOTR movies for the first time, I'm not sure I agree fully. A lot of the characters feel kinda...underdeveloped? There are a handful of ones they introduce and then expect me to care about. Gimli is entertaining, but pretty one note. Sam and Gandalf are great, but Frodo is very lackluster when it comes to being an interesting protagonist. The action set pieces are amazing, but the fighting itself is full of cuts so that you can't see the choreography very well. I don't know, maybe my thoughts will change once I've completed the third movie.

    Jack, if you’re experiencing seasonal depression during the winter, try installing a living moss wall or fern wall somewhere in the house, and pair it with a grow light. Doesn’t have to be huge either. You’re not JUST missing the heat. You’re missing the greenery and light too. Solidly in the "winter is better than summer" team. I can always add more layers, wrap up in a blanket, or sit in front of the fireplace if I'm cold. But in summer, I can only take off so many clothes before it becomes a crime, and even then... with high humidity, it does not matter. That hot stickiness just permeates and it's inescapable unless you are blasting AC.
    Also, having two very snuggly, very warm dogs... is absolutely miserable when it is already hot out and all you have to try and cool off is a fan. But during winter, snuggling up to my little boys is peak coziness.

      Ironically I'm in the opposite camp for the same reasons. It doesn't matter how many layers I put on, at some point they stop doing anything to help. Only so many blankets I can add before it stops making a difference. And a fire can only heat one side of me at a time. But a cold drink or a bit of a breeze cools me right down. I can always get a popsicle or hold an ice pack on my neck or splash myself with water. There are endless ways I can keep cool, but only so much I can do to stay warm. And being too cold makes me not want to do anything, makes it extremely difficult to just get out of bed. So I understand you, but on the opposite extreme lol

But they live in Florida and the heat is so unbearable for me, ive passed out simply from walking outside for 20mins when I lived there, had to be dragged inside and given an ice bath. Funny enough, they hate the cold but always have their AC set to 65°F cuz they can't properly breath in the heat. To me that just feels like their wasting money on AC when they could just live somewhere a bit cooler so they can actually enjoy being outside without having issues with their breathing, but they said they refuse to live anywhere where it snows.

    In The Last of Us 2, I just think the narrative would flow SO MUCH better if Joel's death was placed later in the game instead of the tutorial. That way we're playing as Abby and Ellie in this sort of non-linear storyline to figure out why Ellie is chasing Abby, so we can wonder how they're connected. Then we continue playing Abby after the flashbacks catch-up with Joel's death only now we know her backstory leading up to it.

      @onlyaBT ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I'm no expert, but I feel like there was a better way to convey the message of blind loyalty and tribalism than they did. It felt very condescending in a way... Ellie's Days 1, 2, and 3 were really weirdly paced and the non-linear approach was cool, but to me felt like an absolute drag (save for the actual story beats). Abby's 10-hour part was well-paced even though at first i was simply dreading being her. I thought it was the more tolerable part of the game, but my remaining gripe is that when characters died on Abby's side, it felt so glossed over and disingenuous. It felt like they were characters simply written to die as opposed to the deaths in Ellie's part contributing to her vile nature. As well as in the first game, the deaths served a purpose of feeding Joel's fear or hardening Ellie's at first innocent heart. Other than these criticisms, I think the game was good. I just didn't connect with it as much as the first.

    • @darknesswave100
      @darknesswave100 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I also don't like the fact that they turned Joel into an idiot. He was always careful in the first game and always talked about it but somehow he gave his name out to complete strangers he just met. Also the odds of Abby and her group finding the one person she was looking for are astronomical to put it nicely. The worst part of the game (didn't enjoy it for several reasons) was at the end with Ellie all of a sudden growing some semblance of morality after murdering countless people just to get to Abby only to out of literal nowhere say violence isn't the answer. Yeah tell that to the pile of bodies you've left trying to get to her

    4:28 It's always sad to hear about someone who's never had a good steak. I actually had a moment in my adult life when it had been a long time since I'd had a steak (like not since early teens or younger), and I had two in the span of like two years and both tasted like shit. No flavor, and the second one had been at this super fancy fine dining place my grandma had taken me and my brother to for thanksgiving, and it was like the shittiest fine dining place ever. The steaks smelled great and were cooked pretty well (if a bit more on the rare side than medium rare), but literally had not been seasoned at all. Like not even salt or black pepper or a marinate. The thing cost like $50 and I could have made a better one at home with the cheapest shittiest cut from a Walmart. It was so bad and unflavorful that I literally began to question whether steak had ever actually been good or if it was just my child brain going "mmm red meat good." Thankfully I had a steak a few months after while on vacation that was really good and it restored my faith in steaks. And was like half the price.
    Edit: Also, as an artist I do have strong opinions about pencils. Wooden pencils have more versatility, and if you are doing any sort of traditional art fully in graphite and want smooth shading, they are the way to go, HOWEVER mechanical pencils have a consistency that cannot be matched. If your art style has a heavy emphasis on linework and/or (cross)hatching, mechanical pencils will provide you with the sort of smooth, clean lines that you can't really get with wooden pencils unless you're constantly stopping and sharpening them and holding them at a consistent angle. Wooden pencils just get fuzzy edges too easily. Personally I go for mechanical pencils most of the time, as I have a line heavy style, and usually use them for the initial sketch, so I need to have clean lines to work from when I ink my drawings. Wooden pencils are reserved for more realistic, graphite drawings with shading or for figure drawing/studies (as I usually shade these and usually don't ink them)

    • @animeartist888

      Personally not a fan of steak, and I'm pretty sure it's caused by a bit of childhood trauma with them. We got those cheapy Walmart strip steak cuts, and my stepfather always cooked them with waaaaay too much of a seasoning I didn't even like in the first place. They were tough, overly salty, overly peppery, and had huge chunks of gristle. I chewed and choked down so many of them that the very idea of trying a "real" steak makes my lip curl in disgust. However! I very much understand that it was my upbringing that caused it, so... I don't judge my fiance for ordering his blue steaks at basically every restaurant we try, and I even went well out of my way to find a good way to cook one as a birthday surprise for him. (For the record, he holds that it was the best steak he's ever had, even better than the ones his dad used to make that he raved about constantly up until that point.)
      Also an artist here, and I agree with your pencil take 100%. I would love to have mechanical shading pencils to try, but I haven't seen any good sets. That said, my trusty wooden shading pencil set has brought dimension to many pictures that I first drew the lines with my favorite mechanical pencil.

Being cold sucks, trying to put on more layers of clothes to keep warm only to end up finding yourself TOO warm that you have to take things off is a huge pain. And driving in winter is absolutely terrible, having to deal with the ice and snow on your car or the roads, needing to drive slower to avoid losing control and crashing into somebody, it's just a bad time all around. Both seasons have their merits, I just can't stand being cold, it's too difficult to get bundled enough to warm up.

    The winter vs summer one gave me so much flashbacks of walking on roads of solid ice in the dark or shoveling wet heavy snow for over an hour.... in the dark. Or waking up and looking at an analogue clock that says 11 and not knowing if it is am or pm because both are equally dark so you look for a digital one to find out if stores are open or not. Or walking to school backwards because the windchill felt like acid on the cheeks. Arctic circle fun times.

      Felt that. I've lived in Alaska my whole life (albeit in Souty Central Alaska, but still) and I am so sick and tired of the snow, especially this year. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose summer. Yes it's hot, but it's not PAINFUL, both in joints if you've got crap ones, but also from shoveling and pushing your car if you got stuck. Oh and if your city just. Doesn't get plowed. At all.

    I feel like the 'hot take' on TLOU2 is "I just didn't like it, having nothing to do with the relationships, and what Abby looked like, etc". For a lot of us, we were super involved in Joel and Ellie's story in the first game. The second game is one I can't play, because it's too obsessed with revenge and being depressing. I did 'not' read a single spoiler beforehand. Objectively, it looks amazing, the acting is great, and if I didn't have TLOU1 to compare it too, I likely would have really liked it. For many fans, the revenge plot is just too depressing, and I don't play games to depress myself. That's it, my entire reason for not liking it.

      Sure for games that have fairly generic systems or gameplay the names and models don't matter as much but when it's a mainline game in a long standing franchise it matters that it's nothing like the other games in the series, it's like if a new COD came out and it was a turn based RPG you best believe all the FPS fans would be mad

      Not sure if that classifies as a hot or cold country or something in the middle _(and the weathers been getting warmer the past few years; these numbers are based off of what I remember from recent years but i think it used to be colder when i was a kid)_ but regardless I prefer winter and summer can go fuck itself.

      I'm also from Scandinavia and I prefer summer over winter any day. However, I do also agree that it's easier to deal with freezing weather than hot weather. I still hate winter though. So, I think it's important to distinguish whether we're talking about the _temperature_ or the _weather._ Because it's freaking annoying having to deal with snow and ice and slippery roads, but it's not that hard to deal with cold temperatures on their own. Summer weather might have a lot of rain, depending on where you are, but it'll otherwise be mostly sunny, with either humid or dry air. You will, however, not be at risk of slipping and breaking your bones, just because you had to take the dog for a walk. Besides, as you probably know, we get like... maybe 6 hours of sunlight during the winter, here in Scandinavia (some places even get zero hours). Meanwhile, we get, what feels like, 20+ hours of sunlight during the summer. So, yeah, I prefer summers. XD

      @@elijahpelito4722 Yes. As it stands, she is a character that more than 50% of the playerbase wanted dead. And the game offers no choice in the matter because "revenge bad". It's not good writing to have Abby kill Joel and offer no option to enact revenge on her (after also having no choice but to eradicate everyone she was close to).

      @@Tom--pf8ub The thing is, it's Ellie's story, the player doesn't get to choose because 1) It's not an Rpg, and 2) Ellie decided to forgive Joel by letting Abby go (because she saw Joel in Abby since Abby did the same thing Joel did in the first game), it would make the story less impactful if we got a choice in the end.

    When it comes to winter vs summer, I think I also prefer winter, I mean with summer, it’s hot, and you can only take off so many layers. With winter if it’s too cold, just slap on another jacket and you’re good to go. Plus I hate being hot and sweaty and that’s just kind of the neutral state during summer time if you ever go outside on a normal day. Winter isn’t like that and it’s actually enjoyable to be outside most the time, unless it’s absolutely bitter cold.

    Cold weather = Best Weather. You can wear extra layers of clothing. You cannot however remove your skin or summon the cool breeze to save you from the heat.
    Edit: I lived without an Air Conditioner for several years and it was horrible. I could not sleep comfortably or for long at all.

    As someone who lives in a place where in the summer, it's boiling, literally miserable weather, and the winter is also extremely miserable weather.. which also lasts 6 months for us compared to summer.... i hate BOTH of them, and thats why i stay inside every single day. Even our spring and fall is soooooo cold
