This is why all that nonsense about "words mean whatever people think they do" is my pet peeve. No, mortified still means embarrassed, and LOL means laughing out loud no matter how many old people repeat that abbreviation when it should be RIP or something.

My aunt died back in April and recently my grandma was using Facebook and somehow managed to upload a picture of my aunt's casket with a rap song in the background to Facebook.. publicly. It was VERY quickly deleted by my mom, but man for a good 15 minutes that was the saddest and funniest thing I had seen in ages.
If my momma doesn't video tape me in my casket with rap music playing, then I'm not dying 😤

The whole thing with people still being on the internet when they die is very sobering. I remember on an old writing website I had someone more or less send me a suicide note as one of their few friends there, and then they...disappeared. Since I didn't know them in person I never knew if they went through with it or just left the website amidst whatever they were going through, but that's always stuck with me. And now with social media as the norm I have multiple people on my page where I'll get a notification that it's their birthday two, three, four years after they've passed, and so especially damning if you happen to click into their page and see people saying happy birthday as if they're still there. It's kind of a weird world we live in, where we've eternalized ourselves in perhaps the one way we maybe shouldn't have.
Personally I find it comforting when people have their old pages and profiles up. I can easily go and look through memories. I'm one of the "weirdos" you're talking about who still dms my dead friend on Twitter to say stuff like "merry christmas wherever you are" or tell them I miss them. If Twitter or Facebook got rid of all the inactive pages of people who passed, lots of people who loved them would be very upset. It's no different than visiting a gravesite or looking through an album, or calling someone just to hear their voicemail recording and remember them. It's a very normal thing to do and it only seems weird because technology makes it easier to do in a different way

This video made me realize how similiar old people are to kids. Like in the sense that you could go up to kids and interact and then out of nowhere they'll tell you all about their parents divorce or how much they love someone and follow it up with "they died." Then change the subject to something completely different like paw patrol
I've been saying for a while now that there are two types of grandparents: the super wholesome ones, and the ones who can't wait for their grandchildren to grow up so they can make dirty jokes around them

The one with a million tabs open... I felt that. My mom, Carrie Fisher rest her soul, wondered why she ran out of data so fast and why her phone was so slow and I showed her why. She had so many tabs open that her phone couldn't even display the number and all of her apps were open. I love how she was able to joke about it and learn from it. God, I miss her.

My grandmother had turned her a setting in compability mode on, which inverted all colors on the screen. She is taking pictures of everyone all the time, and at one gettogether she just mentioned that all the photos she was taking was "kind of weird". So I naturally offered to take a look and see if there was anything to be done. Literally everything was completely off, all pictures was basically unviewable and people were barely even recognizable. She had at one day accidentally turned it on, and then just fully accepted that this was just her phone now and had lived with it for around 2 months.
Man, I was so hoping that he'd stumble into the 'making songs out of internet drama' versions of some of these. They are so good!

I just turned 20 and ive been feeling the same way. I used to come home so excited to catch up on his videos, he was a huge inspiration for me growing up. When he started talking about when he died and his videos would still be around, all i could think about was how close i felt to someone ive never met before, how devastated i would be to find out he was gone. Im sure we've all grown and changed since then, but hes the same beautiful soul. Ill be watching in 9 years, even if he doesnt upload, because all of his videos will always be here, just like he said!

I once had an older lady order an ad for the newspaper. She needed to send us a photo so she photocopied her entire phone with the picture displayed, then scanned that photocopy into the computer, sent that and told me "to work my magic". I was practically crying looking at it 🤣🤣🤣
I work at a bingo hall and I can confirm there re a lot of old people. I can't say why they like going for sure but my theory is that they like to complain. That's the best place to go when you can do that the whole time your there and your bingo buddies will agree with you cause they are also complaining. No one who plays bingo is happy. Lol

Not a grandma yet, but I'm 44. My daughter will be 20 in June and her boyfriend will be 22 in July. My youngest will be 15 in July... he's the one that got me watching this channel. What's really fun is when I shock my youngest by watching something he hasn't seen yet, but hears it from my phone or computer. One day, I was watching a collab with Pewdiepie and Cinnamon Toast Ken and he blurted out, "MOM! Are you watching Pewdiepie"? 🤣
I'm a grandmother who loves this channel!!! While I don't think I would comment about people dying under light hearted posts, I am guilty of having a million tabs open, and I don't really understand "texting etiquette". Like saying "ok" or "yes" or "no" with a period I've learned is considered, like, rude-ish? Also, I do have my phone number written down and taped to the back of my phone, because I can't remember it , nor do I know how to find it in my phone itself. The odd thing is. Most of my gen X peers don't have these problems, I guess I just have an analog brain for some reason. My 80 year old mother does better than me!!

As freaky as it is thinking that yes if you passed away all your content would still be up for us to watch, I have to say that after Technoblade's passing I've been finding comfort in watching back all his stuffs since it's all we have left of him online as his community, I think that as scary as it is in a way it's also amazing that I still have 10 years worth of content he made still available to me after his passing :)

That old woman responding to a picture to talk about having cancer reminds me of when I posted a picture I had drawn for me by an artist of a couple friends of mine, one of whom I suspected may have died recently (thankfully he didn't) and had this whole sentimental post attached to it. One person decided to reply to it with "did you sign up for this camp yet? Come on you need to do it, it's important." He did the same thing again on another post one of my teammates in hockey posted on their page and tagged me in after we won a championship together in our league. I had to delete both comments because they just were so out of context and uncalled for.
Based on that experience, I'm willing to believe all of these were real posts. As much as that baffles the mind to see people this blissfully ignorant on how to interact online.
