As a person who's dealt with Major Depressive Disorder for over 30 years, much of Avi's work speaks to me deeply. He portrays depression and anxiety is an accurate manner, but there's always a positive twist; a glimmer of light, the hope that it will get better. Bless this man!

I think this is such a powerful song. The lyrics are so real, the music is fitting and Avi just takes you right on a journey with his singing.

The song was produced by Shooter Jennings so Outlaw Country maybe?
The piano was a saga. They are up in a loft and had to get the piano up into it and then down again.
I was a psychological counselor so I see it in that context not religious. After you gain the insight about a pattern of your thinking or behavior you need to consciously break the habit to stop it recurring.
There are so many folk and country artists with long dark hair and beards that I didn't think of that connotation. Hozier for example, that Avi and his music often get compared to in Ireland and the U.K., has a similar look.
Thank you for reacting to this.
    How goes the wedding planning?

He had a live session before the song released… he explained that it was about depression and anxiety… he is telling them to leave him alone and stay behind that closed door.

He has such a great voice. This song has a great message, similar to the message of "Church" by Tom McDonald.

Avi is Jewish. When you go back to the original Hebrew. that word is Yehoodee which has been translated
into the word Judah, i.e. the tribe of Judah. And of course Jesus was of the tribe of Judah, so Avi carries the same human DNA as Jesus. That word Jew does not apply to the other tribes of Jacob/Israel.
His mother's Jewish family believed in Jesus, ie. were/are Christians. I do not know exactly where his father stands but I have seen him post NT scripture before.
Avi was rehearsing for his bar Mitzv (generally age 13) which he was singing, when his Rabbi informed him he
    had a great voice.
Also he loved to sing a favorite Simon and Garfunkel song he and his mother would sing. His mom singing melody and Avi practicing his abilities to harmonize.
Oh, there are 4 or 5 extra Biblical, ancient writings describing Jesus physical looks. If you saw them, it would shake you to your very core.
    Great Reaction.

No. Avi is NOT a Christian stop spreading that lie. What Avi is, according to him directly in interviews, a man who ended his religious training at his Bar mitzvah. A non observant Jew. Quite common. He has never said anything to lead anyone to believe he belongs to any group that Jews in particular don't like that comes from Evangelical Christians.

The song also talks about "the first place" one goes being the worst case scenario

The first time I heard this song wasn't actually the song, but the Teaser. I started to cry a bit when I heard just the chorus of the song in the teaser. When the song finally came out and I listened to it, I cried with a smile on my face, because this song relates to some of the things that I had locked inside me. As a child getting bullied by everyone from since kindergarten to high school, I mean it got less severe, but at some point I wondered, "why am I still here, what is the purpose of me living if I have to endure all of this?". I had depression and wanted to commit suicide, but was afraid of what I might find when I die, I even prayed to God that I would die before I reached the age of 18. I know, this is unfair to all the people who didn't want to die, but did anyway, but I honestly thought that I would've been doing the world a favor by removing myself from it, since the world didn't want me. I don't have depression anymore since I left high school and don't have to put up with random insults, just for existing, I tend to get anxious when I'm around strangers and crowds, but other than that I am fine and I lived till the age of 18. Thank you Brad for reacting to this song and even interpreting it for those who didn't understand, and to those who did understand and can relate, don't think negative, one thing I learned is that their will be people who don't like you for no reason and who would insult you for your flaws, but just know that their will always be people who love you. Try to ignore the negative and find the positive within the negative. God loves and bless you and have a good day/night and sorry for the long message.

Even though i'm a stranger i'm glad you are still here and that you got out of your depression! The world is never better without someone just more empty for the people who loved them

As someone who understands the survival mind as well as how to move oneself into a genuine well-being from the inside and out, I very much appreciate this song as well as your comments on it. The survival mind is the creator of all of our anxiety, depression, the sense of separation and everything else in our lives that might be in place we don't want it to be, and it's the first we place we go. The survival mind can only see the worst cases scenarios, because it only understands survival and it has to be prepared, but the survival mind is not supposed to be the first place we go and it panics because it can see that it's not helping, yet it has no other skills than to look for the danger. We can't see solutions and answers and what's good from that place, it's in fact impossible. We have to move out of the survival mind and into our hearts to move beyond the survival level. This song, these lyrics, is about taking that control over the survival mind. The survival mind is an expert at making up things to keep us where we are because no matter how dangerous where we are is, it only understands that we are alive there and that's where it wants to keep us, it's its job. Today science has come so far and they are making the connections between science and spirituality, between body, mind and soul, between the mental, the emotional and the physical, and the energetic aspects of the human being. It's brilliant, is providing so many with tools and knowledge to heal, in whatever ways they need to. And we all need to heal one way or another, no matter who we are.
Fantastic reaction, Brad! Thank you! 🥰🙏
