I used this a lot in season 1 versus big body characters like zangief and marissa. So u can try that in matches against them. U can also use it against Akuma with his air fireball and Dhalsim when he’s floating without a plan
I thought that it was to punish meterless fireballs better. Both opponents throw a fireball, you the ex and the opponent a meterless one, you nullify it with 1 of the hits, then, if you're at that specific range, you do the follow-up to hit with the explosion and combo into level 2
My tip for this move is that it's best for when they jump and land on the OD fireball. If you know they're gonna land on it, hit the chaser to get a chip more damage and send them back a touch further. Other than that niche use, don't use it carelessly.
I'm only Plat 4 but I use this one pretty regularly - it's good for breaking through drive impacts in neutral and punishing people who jump straight up out of the corner, and once in a while as a finisher after HP Lash. But again, only Plat 4 :o)
She has combo routes that go into this, for example off sHK punish counter vs a jumping opponent. However, the combos just plain suck, so I wouldn't use them. Still, if the challenge is to land this in a real match, then it's as easy as waiting for a DP char to DP into you and to then punish it with sHK.
I am pretty sure i have landed this move a lot. I tend to overuse whip after bubble and ive caught quite a few dive kicks with the explosion. Its odd. It often trades but it makes using bubble a bit. safer in jump ranges
That's always the first move I do in a match. Or I use a fireball and then sinister slide. Always without fail. Most times I land that OD serpent lash too. Especially if your opponent just charges you.
You would have no problem landing this in Gold or Plat since players like to jump non-stop. you’d an anti air them each time and they’ll still jump at you lol. So in high ranked master, you might get 2 jumps per round. Your skills are impressive.

I only use it for chip damage or long range anti air when the opponent jumps in the corner.

That actually sounds kinda useful, since most dive kicks have a huge hurtbox in this game.
