i would make the argument that you like tier list *videos*, not tier lists really. the tier list in this video format is really just a framing device for a character-by-character strength analysis, with some extra emphasis on relative placements because you're explicitly ranking characters as you go. like, the graphic is secondary to the analysis itself here; people skipping to the end aren't consuming the content of the video, they're consuming a by-product of it.
You know what's cooler than tier lists? Match up charts from players on the characters they're most experienced with. The fun part of these videos isn't the tiers, it's the discussion about character strengths and weaknesses. Tier lists tend to talk about those in a vacuum, but match up charts let you go into the particulars on a case by case basis.
Matchup charts are what used to determine tier lists. They _should_ still determine tier lists theoretically, but full match-up charts for modern fighters with 20+ character rosters are impractical, so now it's a lot more nebulous. Broski's list here is as good as I've seen. I definitely agree that "stability" is a separate quantity from "strength" in SF6 and is equally important. It's the best explanation of why Gief is a bully yet will be _very_ difficult to win a major tournament with.
@@hands-ongaming7180tier list is like fast food and as far as video content goes most people wouldn’t even hear the reasoning they’ll just skip to the end and choose the top tiers. Excellent list. Probably the best one I've seen for SF6. I definitely agree that "stability" is a separate quantity from "strength" in SF6 and is equally important. It's the best explanation of why Gief is a bully yet will be very difficult to win a major tournament with. I think Dhalsim should be at the same strength level as Manon/Kimberly/Marisa (but same stability level), and I think Guile is not nearly as strong as the other characters at that level (I would actually put him on the same strength level as Luke/Chun/Juri, but same stability), but that's about it.
I think it’s a solid list. I agree with you on the fact that this game is just incredibly balanced. It’s hard ranking it when so many characters are viable.
Some people care about tier lists because they want to take the game seriously and they don't want to be hindered by a weak character. I come from melee, I don't know as much about SF, in melee you're are not going to win tournaments if you pick a low tier, and a mid-tier will hinder you, it's just facts from years of data

My favorite thing about tier lists is that I can point to Akuma being top tier and tell my friend who doesn't play sf6 but also thinks akuma is cool and go "dude look Akuma's fucked up you should play street fighter 6"
I made Ryu master rank from Diamond 1 in less than like one good days worth of attempts with the Denjin ryu changes. it greatly improves his consistency. It reminds me of Alex at the end of SFV where Stocking VT1 gave you such a tempo change in neutral that it affected how people try to get in on you. It accidentally skews the neutral into a situation you can manipulate and if they refuse to play that mind game you just get free value
I will be honest, as someone who has played Chun Li and got her to master and playing Juri now, I think Chun Li is a lot less stable of a character. I drop way more combos with Chun despite playing her for a year than I have with Juri in the short time I played her. So I feel Chun Li is a lot less stable and this is ultimately why more people are dropping her.
This whole list makes a lot of sense! My only big ❓️ is Jamie, I feel his strength should be high and inconsistency should be the MOST left. That's the reason he struggles, he *can* access really good tools and really good damage, just does it very inconsistently. Struggles in tournament cause you're eventually gonna have some bad rounds in a row.
I still love Manon😂. Ever since I found a cash out combo that does at least 5000 damage with no medals I've been so excited to play her. Makes me happy I could use it in actual matches
The thing that's quite unique to Street Fighter 6 is that even the weakest characters can just dominate because their weakness and their strengths are tied to the same thing. Their gimmicks. All the weakest characters are extremely gimmicky ones. And if they catch you in their gimmick for just a mere second, they steamroll you since all you need to kill in this game is 1-2 good oki reads.

I think very highly of Guile but I wouldn’t put him as the most stable character in the game. I think if anyone deserves that title rn it’s Ken. Great video tho
Also, even if you hate tier lists itself, maybe a video at the end of the season just going over each character's presence competitively could be fun. It's a great way to provide more intel than S-A-B-C. No done yet, but it's good with the intel at the same time so far. The one that has me scratch my head is Chun. Like no one plays her, she seems to have to do 1239 inputs to do half the same as other characters and seems complicated. I don't get why people place her near the top all the time. The drive rush fire ball is stronk?
She mostly has all the tools to be top tier on paper but like you said, she needs a lot more execution to do the similar things. Luke became top 1 in season 1 because he had all the tools but lower execution barriers for pretty much everything outside of flash knuckle combos (even then pros dropped them all the time and it didn't matter). Execution remains underrated as a balancing consideration in tier lists.
She has godlike neutral buttons, very good supers (especially level 2), strong oki, solid damage, good anti-airs. The only thing she lacks is somw big crazy "thing" that the tip top of characters have. Akuma vortex, rashid level 2, guile booms, etc.

I agree with the list, but I just wanna comment on the "Cammy usually gets low damage"
Cammy usually hits hard as hell honestly lol
